Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You may have noticed that stiffness was already mentioned within this list. This is because one of the most crucial elements to consider when buying for the best mattress is its firmness (and how firmness affects comfort). These aspects will reveal the bed’s suitableness for your sleeping place (s). Let’s review of the quality and firmness of the Helix mattress range.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses come in a wide range of options, with the softest being moderately soft and the most firm ones being moderately firm. Helix Sunset Helix Sunset is on the soft side of the spectrum; we gave it a hardness rating of 5.5 out of 10 in the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 is the industry standard for medium firmness.) Helix Dusk is next. Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10 which means that it’s more soft than the norm. It’s softer than the Helix Midnight, as well as Helix Dusk fall somewhere between the spectrum. Both mattresses received a rating of around 7/10, which is a bit firmer than normal. Helix Twilight and the Helix Twilight as well as the Helix Dawn are at the harder end of the spectrum with both receiving an 7.5/10 assessment (firmer than average).

It’s important to remember that the level of hardness is a matter of personal preference. When it comes to firmness, you may evaluate these mattresses in different ways based on your body weight and your personal preferences. People who are heavier, for instance could find the mattresses firmer since they can press further into the mattress to get to the support layers. On the other hand, people who weigh less be surprised to find these mattresses less firm due to the fact that they are located higher on the comfort level of each bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on the Helix mattresses for a lengthy period of time in order to gain an idea of what it’s like rest on each model in different positions. Check out what we discovered!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Where To Buy A Helix MattressBecause of its softness, due to its softness, the Helix Sunset wasn’t sufficient for back sleepers. The hips of ours sink a little too deeply into the mattress, which caused the spine to become misaligned.

The Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t the best for back sleepers, it’s ideal for those who prefer to sleep sideways. We were very relaxed in this position as the mattress’s softness helped cushion any pressure areas around the shoulder and hip. In fact, it’s one of the greatest mattresses for hip pain we’ve seen.

The Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach-sleeping due to its softness. Our hips sank too deeply into the mattress which pulled our spine out of alignment, just as they did when we were asleep back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhen reclining in a back position, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not outstanding. If you’re planning to sleep in this position all night, you’ll almost certainly need a more firm mattress with additional support and helps maintain an appropriate spine alignment.

The Helix Moonlight is an excellent choice for side sleeping due to its softness. We didn’t feel any unwelcome tension around the hips or shoulders.

It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not adequate for stomach-sleeping. Our hips fell too deeply in the mattress which caused the spine to be out of alignment.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureAs we slept upon the Helix Midnight We felt amazing. We enjoyed a touch of pressure alleviation without sacrificing spinal alignment , thanks to the mattress’s excellent blend of comfort and support. It’s the most comfortable mattress for back sleepers that we have reviewed on this list.

Although the Helix Midnight is more firm than it’s counterparts, the Helix Sunset and Moonlight and Moonlight, we found it pleasant to sleep on our sides on this mattress. It provides adequate pressure alleviation on the hip and shoulder, in our opinion.

While stomach sleeping on the Helix Midnight, we felt good , but not fantastic. People who sleep in this way throughout the night should consider an extra firm mattress that offers greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses we’ve tried, which could be the reason we felt so good while resting in our backs. We’re confident that we’ll have an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night because of the mattress’s suppleness.

It’s not surprising it is that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for a side sleeper considering that we’ve moved to the firmer side in the range. There was some discomfort around the hip and shoulder, which would definitely create a lot of discomfort if you were to sleep in this position all night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers who weigh around average, as it should assist to maintain a healthy spinal alignment. However, stomach sleepers who are heavier may not receive sufficient support in this model.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the greatest bed for back pain. It is ideal for those who require more support due to increased weight back pain, other causes. The firmer construction of this mattress aids in keeping hips lifted and in alignment in alignment with spine.

Because it is the case that Helix Twilight is more firm than the average mattress, we found it difficult to lay on our backs on this mattress. We felt suffocated in the shoulders and hips.

For most stomach sleepers, the Helix Twilight mattress to be an ideal choice, as the mattress’s firmness should offer enough support to the spine in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who favor a firm mattress will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s superior level of support. However, those who like an occasional relief from pressure when lying back might find the mattress to be excessively firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too difficult to sleep on side and you’ll end up having a lot of pressure points on your hip and shoulder. The Helix Dawn that is soft will be much more suitable for sleepers who prefer side sleeping.

The Helix Dawn Mattress is one of the greatest mattress designed for stomach sleepers, in our opinion. Through the night the firm and supportive mattress keeps the hips raised and in alignment with the spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses are all hybrid structure that has foam layers over coils. Despite these similarities, each model has its own distinctive individuality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a well-balanced foam feel. The soft comfort layer allows sleepers to feel comfortable and gives the mattress the feeling of a slow-moving.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, gives a bouncy feeling, particularly when compared to the Sunset one, which is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight is, just like the Helix Sunset, has an even feel and slower-moving upper layer. The Midnight is more firm than the Sunset, allowing sleepers to sink a little deeper into the top layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is due to the use dynamic foam on the upper layer as well as coils in the layer supporting it.

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, has a more sluggish top. It’s still a sturdy mattress, despite the comfort layer being slightly more cushiony.

The Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a bouncy, firm feel to it because of the use of dynamic foam (in the layer of comfort) and coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

Helix Midnight (which is a combination of pressure reduction and spinal support) or the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support and pressure relief) or the Helix Dusk are likely to be the preferred choice for back sleepers (which gives a firmer spinal support).

Sleeping on the Helix Midnight (if your preference is a more firm feeling) or the softer and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight or Sunset is most probable for side sleepers of average weight.

The stomach sleepers who are of moderate weight should prefer the supportive Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for those who are heavy-weight back sleepers because it eases pressure and maintains the alignment of the spine.

The softest models in the Helix range, like the Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset will provide enough pressure relief for heavier side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are heavy, on the other hand, will most likely go to the Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) for the best spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a variety of types available for lightweight back sleepers. The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all have lots of spinal support as well as different levels of pressure relief that can accommodate different styles of sleeping.

Similar to the side sleepers that are lightweight, you can select from Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset that should all offer adequate pressure relief, while allowing users to customize the level of hardness to suit their needs.

Finally stomach sleepers will appreciate Helix Twilight or Dawn to be the most supportive. Helix Twilight and Dawn for the best supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

As far as construction is concerned, each of the Helix mattresses are constructed the same manner: They have the same cover and foam comfort layers are laid over individually wrapped the coils to support them.

Every Helix mattresses, including, have A SoftTouch Design cover that is elastic, soft, and breathable. This allows air to circulate freely throughout the mattress’s top. Meanwhile, each Helix model has a support layer made up of coils individually wrapped and stacked over a high-density base foam which gives the mattress its overall structure and strength.

The similarities end there for the most part. The foam layers that provide comfort vary in thickness, stiffness, arrangement, and types of foam. Other materials are available on some versions. Let’s take a look at it more closely!.

Helix Sunset

The comfort layer of the Helix Sunset is comprised of pressure-relieving Memory Plus Foam, which offers the slower-moving feel which memory foam has become renowned for. A layer of transition made up of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s larger, more bouncier, and more bolstering, sits under the Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is comprised of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s primary comfort layer and the transition layer is made of Helix’s Dynamic Foam. This is another latex-foam option and the numerous layers of this foam gives it a buoyant feeling when compared to that of the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the primary comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it provides pressure reduction and body shaping. A layer of transitional, high-grade polyfoam sits under it. Memory Plus Foam. This layer is quite responsive, implying that the mattress as a whole reacts faster to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The Helix Dusk’s primary comfort layer is constructed from Helix Dynamic Foam, a foam substitute made of latex that is bouncy and responsive. It’s a layer composed of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam layer. (Think about the Dusk’s design as similar to the one of that of the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam is placed on top of Memory Plus Foam to create a bouncy, responsive surface, while Memory Plus Foam provides pressure relief as sleepers sink deeper into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

Helix Twilight, like the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above the dense, high-quality polyfoam transition layer. Its Memory Plus Foam adds some ease of use, but don’t be fooled: this is a firm mattress with only a little bounce.

Helix Dawn

Not to be left out The Helix Dawn features a Helix Dynamic Foam comfort layer that is layered over a dense, high-grade polyfoam transition layer. This combination produces a firm, bouncy, and supple sleep surface that has very minimal give.

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Do you feel hot or cold when sleeping? If you’re worried about your mattress being too hot, you might want to consider buying a LUXE model of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

According to our tests certain models are better than others when it comes to minimising disturbances to the surface of the mattress. The Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight offered the most effective motion-isolating. This is due to the slower-moving memory foam close to the top of each of these models, which does well at absorption of motion. These are the best mattresses for couples that are available on the market.

Edge Support

Each Helix mattress provided an excellent edge support across the board. As we sat and fell asleep near the edges of every mattress, we felt secure.

Durability

All of the Helix mattresses are manufactured with high-density foams and robust coils which ensure that they can last for a long period of period of.

Off-Gassing

We did notice an off-gassing issue from the six Helix mattresses in the beginning. It will disappear in a few days, or perhaps sooner.

Noise

We didn’t hear any distinct sound when moving around on the mattresses during the time of our test. Since all of these mattresses have coils, it’s possible that they’ll begin to make noise over time.

Sex

If you are looking for a sexual mattress, most individuals are concerned about how simple it will be to move positions on the bed. Since all Helix mattresses have coils, they are flexible enough to let you move around easily on each. The models with memory foam on the top layer (particularly, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) could make changing positions more difficult because of their slower movement.
