The Purple Hybrid mattress delivers the same signature Purple feel, but with a more durable and supportive construction. Unpacking Purple Mattress
Purple Hybrid Mattresses are made by the same company as Hyper-Elastic Polyester and the original Purple Bed. Purple offers three varieties of hybrid beds. These are appropriately named Purple Hybrid Premier 3 to Purple Hybrid Premier 4. Below I will explain why you might prefer one to the other and how they compare with the rest. Stick around to find out if a Purple Hybrid mattress is the right choice for you.
Purple Hybrid, also known by the Purple 2, measures 11 inches in thickness. It’s firmer than the other models and is suitable for stomach and back sleepers. It’s also the most affordable Purple Hybrid Mattress.
The Purple Hybrid Premier, formerly known as Purple 3, is 12 inches thick with a thicker Hyper-Elastic Polymer comfort layer. This makes it feel a bit softer and lands around a medium to medium-firm on the scale. Unpacking Purple Mattress
The Purple Hybrid Premier 4 is the most expensive of the Purple hybrid beds, but it’s a whopping 13 inches thick and is extra supportive. It’s similar to the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 and has a medium or medium-firm profile. We believe it would suit any body type.
Purple Hybrid Mattress Video Review
Purple Hybrids include purple details throughout the bed. This is a wonderful addition for anyone who loves the color. The details in the cover give it a premium look, and you can tell it’s a bit more heavy-duty than the flagship Purple mattress. What does the Purple feel like?
It’s quite different than the innerspring mattress in Grandma’s guest room, and I will tell you that. This bed is an entirely new concept that I believe worked well for the company. Unpacking Purple Mattress
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness and feel
Purple Hybrid beds are soft, airy and don’t feel like foam no matter what model they come in. The purple squares can be felt under your fingertips if you move your hand along the mattress’s center.
While it’s not obvious when you lay down, it feels like you’re floating on the back of a hammock or on your stomach. The thick layer of pocketsed coils underneath makes it very supportive.
Purple Hybrid 2 feels simultaneously supportive and pressure-relieving. However, it has a slightly firmer profile. The soft squares do not press into your hips and shoulders, unlike a traditional firm bed. But my back and spine feel extremely reinforced thanks to the Hyper-Elastic polymer layer. I like it a bit more firm than the Original Purple.
If you’re curious about the Purple Hybrid but you aren’t willing to explore unconventional ways of bedding, you might want to look elsewhere. You might be happy with the benefits of the Purple Hybrid if you are open-minded to a mattress feeling that reduces pressure on your hips and shoulders while making you feel lighter. Purple Hybrid Premier
The brand’s two top-level hybrid beds share the same Purple feel but have a slightly softer profile due to their thicker Hyper-Elastic polymer layers.
They both fall between medium to medium-firm or about a 6 on my firmness scale. Unpacking Purple Mattress
Purple Hybrid mattress construction
The Purple Hybrid’s four layers are approximately 11 inches in height and has four layers. Let’s take a look at the layers of this bed to get an idea of how Purple and Purple are made.
A thin slab of basic foam about an inch thick, which supports the thick pocketed coil layer above.
A thick system of 7.5-inch pocketed coils, individually wrapped with fabric to help limit motion transfer across the mattress. It is the foundation of this mattress’s support.
A thin half an inch of foam to help neutralize the feel of the pocketed coils in the bed’s foundation.
2 inches of Hyper-Elastic Pomer from the brand, laid out in grid formation. This is the main layer which distinguishes it the Purple Hybrid mattresses. Every mattress has a different thickness. It provides most of Purple’s comfort.
To make the sides more stable and sturdy, dense foam slabs are surrounded by the edges.
The Purple’s StretchMax cover is atop, and it is, as the name suggests, extra-stretchy. It feels more breathable than traditional mattress covers. I compare it to an athletic antisweat top rather than a soft cotton one. Unpacking Purple Mattress
Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
The brand’s top-tier mattresses are the Purple Hybrid Premier and Purple Hybrid Premier. Only the top layers make up the main difference in construction.
Purple 3 has a layer 3 in. of Hyper-Elastic Polymer at top; Purple 4 has 4 in.
They are slightly softer than the Purple Hybrid, although it doesn’t make much difference in feel. Unpacking Purple Mattress
Motion isolation is not a common feature of innerspring beds, but the Purple Hybrid offers a different approach with its pocketed coils.
It seems to be quite capable of isolating motion, even though it is very bouncy.
It almost makes no sound, so you’ll barely be able notice your partner’s movements on the other. Unpacking Purple Mattress
Purple Hybrid mattresses have firm foam at the edges that will hold you up if your body tends to lean towards the sides of the bed.
This mattress has edge support capabilities that I am happy to give two thumbs up.
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid is not made with any cooling material. Instead, its natural, breathable design makes it one the best mattresses for allowing airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat in the same way as memory foam or Poly foam. This makes Purple a great choice for hot sleepers who need extra cooling. Although it’s not cold, I don’t feel too hot when I sleep on the Purple. Unpacking Purple Mattress
Purple Hybrid’s best sleeping positions and body types
You wouldn’t expect every size shirt to fit at your local clothing store.
There are many options. The best mattress for you will depend on your body type and the position that you prefer to sleep in. Unpacking Purple Mattress
The main sleeping positions are stomach, back, or side. Purple Hybrids are best for stomach and back sleeping.
If you’re a side sleeper and really want the Purple Hybrid, I’d opt for one of the Purple Premier mattresses. They are slightly more comfortable and relieve pressure than the standard hybrid mattress, which will be a plus for your shoulders. Unpacking Purple Mattress
Type of body
No matter your body type, no matter if you are 105 lbs or 250 lbs, the Purple Hybrid Beds will suit you perfectly.
Purple Hybrid mattresses can be used by all body types as they are more supportive of traditional foam beds like Casper or Nectar. The mattress has a layer of steel-pocketed coils in the bottom. Steel is much more durable that foam. Over the next 10 years, you will see a significant difference in how this mattress holds up to time compared with an all-foam mattress. Unpacking Purple Mattress
Purple Hybrids are more expensive than original Purples. They also tend to be less affordable for those who need to spend as little as possible on a brand new bed. The Purple Hybrid is a good choice if your goal is to invest in your evening’s sleep.
Purple Hybrid mattresses are available in sizes ranging from twin XL to California King. Prices start at $1299 and go up until $1,899. The bed is not usually discounted, but there may be a promotion for free sheets or pillows.
Purple Hybrid Mattress has metal coils enclosed in foam to offer support, softness, and durability.

Each online mattress company offers a few extra benefits to make the purchase more worthwhile, including shipping and a complimentary trial. Unpacking Purple Mattress
Shipping is free to your front door. However, the type and cost of shipping will vary depending on the bed that you buy. Standard shipping is free for Purple Hybrids. For the Purple Hybrid Premier beds, you’ll actually get free white-glove delivery, and they’ll set up your mattress in-home for you.
You will have 100 nights to try your bed. If after night 99, your bed is not what you expected, you will be eligible for a full return. Purple offers a 10-year limited warranty on mattresses in the event of a manufacturer defect.
