Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You might have noticed that stiffness has already been discussed within this list. That’s because one of the most important aspects to think about when buying for a new mattress is the firmness (and how firmness affects comfort). These factors will tell you a lot about a mattress’s suitability for your chosen sleep place (s). Let’s review of the comfort and firmness that comes with the Helix mattress range.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses are available in a variety of hardness options, with the most soft being moderately soft, and the firmest being fairly firm. Its Helix Sunset is on the lower end of the scale We gave it a hardness rating at 5.5 /10 on the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 would be the industry standard for medium firmness.) Helix Dusk is next. Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10 which means that it’s softer than normal. The Helix Midnight as well as the Helix Dusk are in the middle of the spectrum. Both mattresses scored approximately a 7/10 which is slightly more firm than the average. They are Helix Twilight, as well as Helix Dawn are at the harder end of the spectrum, both getting an 7.5/10 score (firmer than average).

It’s crucial to be aware that the level of hardness is a matter of individual preference. If you’re looking for the firmness, you could evaluate these mattresses in different ways based on your body weight and your personal preferences. People who are heavier, for instance could find the mattresses more firm as they can push further into the mattress and reach into the support layers. On the other hand, people who weigh less discover that these mattresses are more supple due to their position on the comfort level of every bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on the Helix mattresses for a lengthy period of time in order to gain a clear picture of what it’s like to rest on each model in various positions. Have a look at the results!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Unboxing Helix MattressDue to its softness because of its softness, Helix Sunset didn’t feel nearly supportive enough for back sleeping. Our hips were a bit too far in the bed, causing the spine to become misaligned.

While the Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for those who sleep on their backs but it’s great for side sleepers. We were very at ease in this position due to the soft mattress cushioned possible stress points around the hip and shoulder. In actual fact, it’s one of the best mattresses to relieve hip discomfort we’ve seen.

The Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping because of its softness. Our hips sank too deeply into the mattress and pulled the back out of position just the way they did when were sleeping back to back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightAs a back sleeper while sleeping, back sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not outstanding. If you’re planning on sleeping in this position for the duration of the through the night, you’ll require a mattress with additional support and helps maintain an appropriate spine alignment.

It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent choice for side sleeping because of its comfort. We didn’t feel any uncomfortable pressure around the hips or shoulders.

It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping. Our hips fell too deeply to the bed, which caused the spine to shift.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhen we lay down upon the Helix Midnight and feeling fantastic, we were able to feel great. We enjoyed a touch of pressure alleviation without sacrificing spinal alignment thanks to the mattress’s excellent balance of support and comfort. It’s the most comfortable mattress for back sleepers on this list.

Although the Helix Midnight is more firm in comparison to the Helix Sunset as well as Moonlight and Moonlight, we were able to rest comfortably on our sides on this mattress. It provides adequate pressure alleviation on the hip and shoulder, in our opinion.

When we slept with our stomachs on the Helix Midnight, we were good but not great. People who sleep in this position all night should look for a firmer mattress that provides greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than the other models that we’ve tested. This could explain why we felt so at ease while sleeping on our backs. We’re sure that we’ll be able to maintain an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night because of the mattress’s supportive qualities.

It’s probably not surprising it is that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for a side sleeper considering that we’ve moved to the more firm end of the spectrum. We felt some pressure around the shoulder and hip that would create a lot of discomfort if you slept in this position all night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers who weigh around average since it can help to maintain a healthy spine alignment. However, stomach sleepers who are heavier may not receive enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the best mattress for back discomfort. It is ideal for those who require extra support due to increased weight, back pain, or other causes. The firmer construction of this mattress assists in keeping the hips elevated and aligned with the spine.

Since the Helix Twilight is slightly firmer than other mattresses, we found it difficult to lay on our backs on the mattress. We felt suffocated in the hips and shoulders.

For most stomach sleepers, the Helix Twilight mattress to be a great fit, since the mattress’s hardness will provide enough of spinal support in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who like mattresses that are firm will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s high level of support. However, those who like a little pressure alleviation when resting on their backs may likely find this mattress to be excessively firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too hard for side sleeping and you’ll be left having a lot of pressure points around your shoulder and hip. A softer model will be much more suitable for those who sleep on their sides.

It is the Helix Dawn mattress is considered to be the most comfortable mattress designed for stomach sleepers in our opinions. In the evening this supportive and firm mattress will keep your hips up and in alignment with the spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses are all hybrid structure that has foam layers over coils. However, despite these similarities every Helix mattress has its own distinct personality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a well-balanced foam feel. The soft comfort layer allows sleepers to relax and provides the mattress with a slow-moving feel.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy sensation, particularly when compared with the Sunset, which is less sensitive.

The Helix Midnight, like the Helix Sunset, has a balanced feel and a slower-moving upper layer. The Midnight is firmer than the Sunset which allows sleepers to sink more deeply into the top layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is because of the use of high-performance foam for the layer on top, and coils in the layer supporting it.

It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, is characterized by a slower-moving top. It’s still a solid mattress despite the comfort layer being slightly more comfortable.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a soft, firm and bouncy feel it because to the use of dynamic foam (in the cushion layer) and coils (in the support layer).

The stomach sleepers who are with a moderate weight should choose the supportive Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

The Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for heavyweight back sleepers, as it relieves pressure while maintaining the alignment of the spine.

The most comfortable models within the Helix range, like Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset, should provide sufficient of pressure relief for heavier side sleepers.

Helix Mattresses Construction

As far as construction is concerned, each of all of the Helix mattresses are built in the same way: They share the same cover and the foam comfort layers are laid over individually wrapped supports for coils.

Every Helix mattresses, in particular, have a SoftTouch Design cover that is flexible, soft and breathable. This design allows air to circulate freely through the mattress’s top. Meanwhile, each Helix model has a support layer made up of individually wrapped coils that are stacked over a dense base foam which provides the mattress with it’s overall design and stability.

The similarities end there for the most part. The foam layers that provide comfort differ in their thickness, stiffness, arrangement and kinds of foam. Additional materials are also offered on certain versions. Let’s take a take a closer look!.

Helix Sunset

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made up of pressure-relieving Memory Plus Foam, which provides the slow-moving, comfortable feel of memory foam that it is known for. A transition layer composed of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s more firm, bouncier and more bolstering, sits under memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Sunset’s top comfort layer is comprised out of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s comfort layer and transition layer is made of the Helix Dynamic Foam. This is another latex-foam option and the numerous layers of this foam give it a bouncy feeling when compared to the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the primary comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it provides pressure reduction and body shaping. A transition layer of thick, high-grade polyfoam sits beneath that Memory Plus Foam. The layer is extremely flexible, meaning that the mattress in general responds to pressure more quickly.

Helix Dusk

The Dusk’s main comfort layer is made up out of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s bouncy and receptive. The layer is made comprised of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam layer. (Think about the Dusk’s structure as similar to the one of that of the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam has been laid over Memory Plus Foam to produce a bouncy, responsive surface, while Memory Plus Foam helps relieve pressure as sleepers sink deeper into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

Helix Twilight, like the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above the dense, high-quality polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. Its Memory Plus Foam adds some convenience, but don’t get fooled: this is a firm mattress with only a little bounce.

Helix Dawn

Then, last but not least The Helix Dawn has the Helix Comfort Layer made of Dynamic Foam that is layered over a high-quality, dense polyfoam layer transition layer. The result is an extremely firm, bouncey, and comfortable sleep surface with very little give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We tested the Helix mattresses to a set of tests to find out how well they performed in key areas such as temperature control, motion transfer, edge support and much many more. Read on to learn the results!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Are you sleeping hot or cold? If you’re still concerned about the possibility of overheating, think about purchasing a LUXE version of your mattress.

Motion Transfer

According to our tests certain models are better than other models when it comes to keeping out any disturbances that might occur on the surface of the mattress. It was found that the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight provided the best motion-seclusion. That’s because they have a memory foam that is slower moving close to the top of each of the models, it does well at absorption of motion. These are among the best mattresses for couples on the market.

Edge Support

Every Helix mattress provided an excellent edge support across all models. When we sat and slept at the edge of each model, we felt comfortable and safe.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are made from high-density foams as well as sturdy coils which ensure that they can last for a long period of.

Off-Gassing

We noticed the off-gassing of the six Helix mattresses in the beginning. It will disappear in a few days, in the event that it is not earlier.

Noise

There was no noticeable noise when we moved around on one of these mattresses during the time we wrote our review. However, because all of them have coils, it’s possible that they’ll start to sound squeaky over time.

Sex

If you are looking for a sexual mattress, most individuals are concerned about how easy it will be to move places on their mattress. Since all Helix mattresses are made of coils, they should be responsive enough to allow you to move around easily on each. The models with memory foam on their top layers (particularly those that have memory foam in the top layer (such as Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) could make changing positions a little more difficult because of their slow motion.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year mattress guarantee are provided in every Helix mattress.
