Purple Hybrid mattresses have the same Purple feel, but with a more sturdy and supportive construction. Review Purple Mattress
From the company that gave you Hyper-Elastic Polymer and the original Purple bed comes the big-and-sturdy Purple Hybrid mattresses. Purple offers three varieties of hybrid beds. These are appropriately named Purple Hybrid Premier 3 to Purple Hybrid Premier 4. Below, I’ll dive into the different reasons why you may want one over the other, and if they’re worth their price in general. Keep reading to discover if the Purple Hybrid mattress is right for YOU.
Purple Hybrid, also known by the Purple 2, measures 11 inches in thickness. It is firmer than any of the other models, and it is great for stomach or back sleepers. With that said, it’s the most affordable Purple Hybrid mattress.
The Purple Hybrid Premier (formerly Purple 3) is 12 inches in thickness with a thicker Hyper elastic Polymer comfort layer. This makes the Purple Hybrid Premier feel a bit more soft and places it around a medium to moderate-firm scale. Review Purple Mattress
Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid bed is the most costly, but it is thicker than all Purple hybrid beds and provides extra support. Like the Purple Hybrid Premier 3, it has a medium to medium-firm profile, and we think it would suit all body types.
Purple Hybrid Mattress Video Review
The Purple Hybrid incorporates purple detailing throughout the bed, a great touch for an avid lover of the color. It’s more luxurious than the Purple Hybrid mattress, thanks to the premium cover. What does the Purple feel like?
It is completely different from Grandma’s innerspring mattress, I’ll be honest. It’s an innovative concept for a mattress that I think worked in the company’s favor. Review Purple Mattress
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness/feel
Purple Hybrid beds are soft, airy and don’t feel like foam no matter what model they come in. Feel the squishy, squared shapes underneath the mattress by running your fingers along its center.
It isn’t noticeable when you lie down. Instead, you feel buoyant and like you are floating on your back or in a hammock. Though, it’s also really supportive because of the thick layer of pocketed coils, which I’ll explain more below.
Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously provides pressure relief and support, while also maintaining a firmer profile. I believe it to be around a medium firm, or 7 on the firmness scale. The soft squares do not press into your hips and shoulders, unlike a traditional firm bed. But my back and spine feel extremely reinforced thanks to the Hyper-Elastic polymer layer. I like it a bit more firm than the Original Purple.
If you aren’t open to exploring new ways of bedding but are curious about the Purple Hybrid then you may want to consider other options. It might appeal to you if the mattress feels like it is releasing pressure from your hips, shoulders, back and making you feel lighter. Review Purple Mattress
Purple Hybrid Premier
The brand’s two top-level hybrid beds share the same Purple feel but have a slightly softer profile due to their thicker Hyper-Elastic polymer layers.
Both of them fall in the middle to mid-firm range, or roughly a 6 on our firmness scale. Review Purple Mattress
Purple Hybrid mattress construction
The Purple Hybrid is four layers thick and around 11 inches tall. Here is a basic breakdown of the layers in the Purple Hybrid so that you can get an understanding of what makes Purple, Purple.
A thin slab of basic foam about an inch thick, which supports the thick pocketed coil layer above.
A thick system of 7.5-inch pocketed coils, individually wrapped with fabric to help limit motion transfer across the mattress. It’s the main reason why this mattress is so supportive.
To neutralize the feeling of the coils within the foundation of the bed, add a thin 1/2 inch of foam.
Around 2 inches of the brand’s special Hyper-Elastic Polymer, laid out in a grid formation. This layer is what distinguishes the Purple Hybrid mattress from the others. Each mattress’s thickness varies. It is soft, bouncy and provides the majority of the Purple’s comfort.
Dense foam slabs surround the edges to give the sides a more solid and stable feel.
Purple’s StretchMax “StretchMax” covers are layered on top. They are, just like their name, extra-stretchy. It is more breathable that a typical mattress cover. I liken it more to an antisweat sports undergarment rather than a soft top made of cotton. Review Purple Mattress
Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
The Purple Hybrid Premier mattress is the highest-rated option from the brand. Only the top layers make up the main difference in construction.
Purple 3 has 3inches of Hyper Elastic Polymer at the top. Purple 4 has 4inches.
The Purple Hybrid is softer than these, although they don’t feel any different. Review Purple Mattress
Motion isolation is not something that innerspring beds are known for, but the Purple Hybrid has pocketsed coils and special material that make it possible.
I believe it’s quite effective at isolating motion even though it’s a super-bouncy mattress.
It barely makes any noise, and it’s almost impossible to notice your partner moving on the opposite side. Review Purple Mattress
Purple Hybrid mattresses include firm foam on the edges. If you are prone to slipping during the night, the Purple Hybrid will keep you more secure.
This mattress has edge support capabilities that I am happy to give two thumbs up.
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid does not have any fancy cooling materials. Its natural, breathable design means that it is one of the best mattresses available for allowing airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat like memory foam or poly foam might, making it appealing to hot sleepers like me who need the additional cooling relief. Purple isn’t cold to the touch but I don’t feel hot sleeping on it. Review Purple Mattress
Purple Hybrid’s perfect sleeping positions and body types
You wouldn’t expect that you would fit into every size shirt at your favorite clothes store.
There are many options. The best mattress for you will depend on your body type and the position that you prefer to sleep in. Review Purple Mattress
Side, stomach, back, or a combination thereof are the primary sleeping positions. The Purple Hybrid is best for stomach and back sleepers.
If you’re a side-sleeper and really want the Purple Hybrid I’d recommend one of the Purple Premier beds. They are a bit softer and more pressure-relieving than the standard hybrid model, which will be more of a benefit to your sides and shoulders. Review Purple Mattress
Type of body
No matter what your body size, no matter how heavy or light, the Purple Hybrid bed will work for you.
Purple Hybrid mattresses can be used by all body types as they are more supportive of traditional foam beds like Casper or Nectar. They have that layer of steel pocketed coils on the bottom, and if you think about it, steel is much more durable than foam. You will notice a difference in the durability of this mattress over a period of 10 years compared to an all foam bed. Review Purple Mattress
The Purple Hybrid costs more than the original Purple. It isn’t the best option for people trying to save as much money as possible when buying a new bed. If you’re looking for a way to improve your night’s rest, however, you might consider it a reasonable price.
Purple Hybrid mattresses are available from twin XL up to California king. The prices start at $1,299, and can go up to $1,899. Although they don’t often offer discounts on this bed, they might have a promotion that includes free sheets and pillows.
Purple Hybrid mattress features metal coils wrapped in foam to provide support and softness.

You’ll have a solid 100 nights to test out your bed. You can return your bed if you aren’t satisfied with it by the end of night 99. Purple guarantees its mattresses for a minimum of 10 years in case of manufacturer defect.
