Purple Hybrid mattress firmness & Feel
Purple Hybrid mattresses, regardless of which model you buy, are soft and airy. They don’t feel like foam. You can feel the soft, squishy corners of the mattress bend and transform underneath if you place your hand on the middle.
It isn’t noticeable when you lie down. Instead, you feel buoyant and like you are floating on your back or in a hammock. Though, it’s also really supportive because of the thick layer of pocketed coils, which I’ll explain more below.
Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously relieves pressure and supports, but has a slightly firmer profile. This Purple Hybrid 2 is around a medium-firm or 7 out 10 on my firmness scale. The soft squares of the Purple Hybrid 2 don’t push against your hips and shoulders like a regular firm bed. However, I feel my back and spine are reinforced by Hyper-ElasticPolymer. I like it a bit more firm than the Original Purple.
If you aren’t open to exploring new ways of bedding but are curious about the Purple Hybrid then you may want to consider other options. Although they share the brand’s signature Purple feel, the two higher-level hybrid beds are slightly different because they contain thicker layers Hyper-Elastic Polymer.

Purple Hybrids come in three versions, each with a different layer of Purple Grid gel.
The Purple Hybrid’s four layers are approximately 11 inches in height and has four layers. Let’s take a look at the layers of this bed to get an idea of how Purple and Purple are made.
A thin slab of basic Foam about an inch in thickness, which supports the thick pocketed coil above.
A thick system containing 7.5-inch coils in pockets, each individually wrapped with fabric to prevent motion transfer. It’s what makes this mattress so supportive.
A thin layer of foam about a quarter inch thick to neutralize the effect of the mattress’s foundation.
The Hyper-Elastic polymer of the brand is 2 inches thick. It’s laid out in a grid structure. This is the primary layer that distinguishes it from the other two Purple Hybrid mattresses — each mattress has a different thickness of this layer. It provides most of Purple’s comfort.
To make the sides more stable and sturdy, dense foam slabs are surrounded by the edges.
Purple’s StretchMax “StretchMax” covers are layered on top. They are, just like their name, extra-stretchy. It is more breathable that a typical mattress cover. I liken it more to an antisweat sports undergarment rather than a soft top made of cotton. Queen Size Purple Mattress

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
Purple Hybrid Premier is the brand’s highest-end mattress option. The only difference in construction is the top layers.
Purple 3 has a layer of Hyper elastic Polymer at its top that measures 3 inches, while Purple 4 has 4 inches.

Motion isolation
Motion isolation isn’t something innerspring beds are good at. But with the Purple Hybrid’s pocketsed coils as well as the special material inside, it’s an entirely different story.
I think it’s pretty good at isolating motion, even if it is a super-bouncy bed.

Edge support

Temperature
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid doesn’t have any cooling materials, but its natural breathable design makes them one of the best mattresses to allow airflow.

Side, stomach, back, or a combination thereof are the primary sleeping positions. Purple Hybrids are best for stomach and back sleeping.
