First impressions
The Purple Hybrid incorporates purple detailing throughout the bed, a great touch for an avid lover of the color. The details in the cover give it a premium look, and you can tell it’s a bit more heavy-duty than the flagship Purple mattress. People want to know what the Purple feels like.

Purple Hybrid mattress firmness, feel and feel
Regardless of the model you get, the Purple Hybrid mattresses are soft and airy without feeling like foam. You can feel the soft, squishy corners of the mattress bend and transform underneath if you place your hand on the middle.
It’s not super noticeable when you’re laying down, it just feels buoyant like you’re floating on your back or laying on a hammock. Though, it’s also really supportive because of the thick layer of pocketed coils, which I’ll explain more below.
Purple Hybrid 2 feels simultaneously supportive and pressure-relieving. However, it has a slightly firmer profile. Purple Hybrid mattress construction
There are three types of Purple Hybrids, each with a different Purple Grid gel layer thickness.
The Purple Hybrid has four layers and is approximately 11 inches high. Here is a basic breakdown of the layers in the Purple Hybrid so that you can get an understanding of what makes Purple, Purple.
A thin layer of basic foam, about one-inch thick, that supports the thick pocketed coil layers above.
The mattress has a thick system made of 7.5-inch pockets coils. Each coil is individually wrapped in fabric to reduce motion transfer. It is the foundation of this mattress’s support.
A thin, half-inch of foam is used to neutralize the sensation of the bed’s foundation.
The Hyper-Elastic polymer of the brand is 2 inches thick. It’s laid out in a grid structure. This is the primary layer that distinguishes it from the other two Purple Hybrid mattresses — each mattress has a different thickness of this layer. It is soft, bouncy, and provides the most comfort of the Purple.
The dense foam slabs that surround the edges make the sides more sturdy and supportive.

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
Two Purple Hybrid Premier mattresses are the best-selling mattress options. Really, the only major differences in construction are the top layers.
Purple 3 has a layer of Hyper elastic Polymer at its top that measures 3 inches, while Purple 4 has 4 inches.

Motion isolation
Motion isolation isn’t usually an innerspring bed’s forte, but with the pocketed coils and special material you find in the Purple Hybrid, it’s a different story.
It seems to be quite capable of isolating motion, even though it is very bouncy.

Edge support
The Purple Hybrid mattresses are constructed with firm foam around the edges to hold your body up more firmly if you tend to creep towards the side of the bed during the night.

Temperature
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid doesn’t have any cooling materials, but its natural breathable design makes them one of the best mattresses to allow airflow.
