The Purple Hybrid mattress delivers the same signature Purple feel, but with a more durable and supportive construction. Purple Mattress Topper Queen
Purple Hybrid Mattresses are made by the same company as Hyper-Elastic Polyester and the original Purple Bed. Purple actually has three types of hybrid beds. They are appropriately named the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 or 4 and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 or 4. Below I will discuss the reasons you might choose one over another and whether they are worth the price. Find out if a Purple Hybrid Mattress is right for you.
Purple Hybrid is also known as Purple 2 and is 11 inches thick. It’s also firmer than the other two models and is ideal for back or stomach sleepers. It’s also one of the most affordable Purple Hybrid mattresses.
The Purple Hybrid Premier, formerly known as Purple 3, is 12 inches thick with a thicker Hyper-Elastic Polymer comfort layer. This makes the Purple Hybrid Premier feel a bit more soft and places it around a medium to moderate-firm scale. Purple Mattress Topper Queen
Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid Hybrid is the most expensive Purple hybrid bed, but it’s also thicker (13 inches) and offers extra support. It is similar to the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 in that it has a medium-firm profile. We think it would be suitable for most body types.
Purple Hybrid Mattress Video Review
Purple Hybrids have purple detailing all over the bed. It’s a great choice for someone who is passionate about the color. The cover has premium details that give it a more luxurious look than the Purple flagship mattress. What does the Purple mattress feel like?
It’s certainly not the same innerspring mattress that Grandma used in her guest room. This bed is an entirely new concept that I believe worked well for the company. Purple Mattress Topper Queen
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness/feel
Purple Hybrid beds are soft, airy and don’t feel like foam no matter what model they come in. The purple squares can be felt under your fingertips if you move your hand along the mattress’s center.
It’s barely noticeable when you lie down. It just feels buoyant, like you’re floating in your hammock or on top of your head. It’s very supportive due to the thick layer pocketed coils. I’ll explain this further below.
Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously relieves pressure and supports, but has a slightly firmer profile. This Purple Hybrid 2 is around a medium-firm or 7 out 10 on my firmness scale. The soft squares do not press into your hips and shoulders, unlike a traditional firm bed. But my back and spine feel extremely reinforced thanks to the Hyper-Elastic polymer layer. It’s firmer than the Original Purple mattress.
The Purple Hybrid is a great option if you don’t want to experiment with other bedding styles. You might be happy with the benefits of the Purple Hybrid if you are open-minded to a mattress feeling that reduces pressure on your hips and shoulders while making you feel lighter. Purple Hybrid Premier
The brand’s two highest-level hybrid beds feature the same Purple feel. However, they have a slightly softer profile due to thicker layers made of Hyper-Elastic Pomer.
I think they both land in between a medium to medium-firm, or around a 6 on the firmness scale. Purple Mattress Topper Queen
Purple Hybrid mattress construction
The Purple Hybrid has 4 layers and measures around 11 inches high. Let’s take a look at the layers of this bed to get an idea of how Purple and Purple are made.
A thin slab made of basic foam approximately one inch thick that supports the thick layer of pocketed coils above.
A thick system containing 7.5-inch coils in pockets, each individually wrapped with fabric to prevent motion transfer. It’s what makes this mattress so supportive.
A thin half inch of foam to help neutralize any sensations caused by the pockets in the bed’s base.
2 inches of Hyper-Elastic Pomer from the brand, laid out in grid formation. This is the main layer which distinguishes it the Purple Hybrid mattresses. Every mattress has a different thickness. It is soft, bouncy, and provides the most comfort of the Purple.
To give the sides more support and stability, dense foam slabs are placed around the edges.
On top is the Purple’s “StretchMax” cover, and just like the name implies, it’s extra-stretchy. It’s more breathable than any standard mattress cover. You can compare the feel to a soft cotton top or an athletic antisweat shirt. Purple Mattress Topper Queen
Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
Purple Hybrid Premier is the brand’s highest-end mattress option. Really, the only major differences in construction are the top layers.
Purple 3 has 3″ of Hyper-Elastic polymer at the top and Purple 4 has 4″.
While it doesn’t make a significant difference in feel, they are more soft than the Purple Hybrid. Purple Mattress Topper Queen
Motion isolation isn’t something innerspring beds are good at. But with the Purple Hybrid’s pocketsed coils as well as the special material inside, it’s an entirely different story.
I think it’s pretty good at isolating motion, even if it is a super-bouncy bed.
It virtually makes no noise, and you’ll hardly be able to notice your partner moving around on the other side. Purple Mattress Topper Queen
Purple Hybrid mattresses include firm foam on the edges. If you are prone to slipping during the night, the Purple Hybrid will keep you more secure.
This is why I give the edge support capabilities of this mattress two thumbs up.
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid has a natural breathable structure that allows for airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat like memory foam or poly foam might, making it appealing to hot sleepers like me who need the additional cooling relief. Purple is not cold but it does not feel hot. Purple Mattress Topper Queen
Purple Hybrid’s ideal positions for sleeping and body types
You wouldn’t be able to wear every shirt in your favorite clothing store. The same goes for mattresses.
There are many options. Your preference for a particular position and your body type are key factors in choosing the best mattress. Purple Mattress Topper Queen
The primary sleeping positions are side, stomach, back or a combination of them all. Purple Hybrid is recommended for stomach and back sleepers.
If you’re a side sleeper and really want the Purple Hybrid, I’d opt for one of the Purple Premier mattresses. They are a bit softer and more pressure-relieving than the standard hybrid model, which will be more of a benefit to your sides and shoulders. Purple Mattress Topper Queen
Type of body
No matter what your body size, no matter how heavy or light, the Purple Hybrid bed will work for you.
Purple Hybrid beds are better for all types of bodies than regular foam beds like Casper, Nectar and Casper. You will notice the layer of steel pocketed coils at the bottom. It is far more durable than foam. It will be noticeable how the mattress will perform over the years compared with an all foam mattress. Purple Mattress Topper Queen
The Purple Hybrid is more expensive than the original Purple, of course, and isn’t the best for people who are trying to spend as little as they can on a new bed. You might find it reasonable if you want to invest in your nights of sleep.
Purple Hybrid mattresses are available from twin XL up to California king. Prices start at $1,299 and go all the way up to $1,899. They don’t usually run discounts for this bed, but they may have a promotion going for free sheets or pillows with your purchase.
Purple Hybrid mattresses have metal coils that are encased with foam for support and softness.
