First impressions
Purple Hybrids include purple details throughout the bed. This is a wonderful addition for anyone who loves the color. The details in the cover give it a premium look, and you can tell it’s a bit more heavy-duty than the flagship Purple mattress. Purple Hybrid mattress firmness & Feel
No matter which model you choose, Purple Hybrid mattresses feel soft and airy but not like foam. The purple squares can be felt under your fingertips if you move your hand along the mattress’s center.
It’s not super noticeable when you’re laying down, it just feels buoyant like you’re floating on your back or laying on a hammock. The thick layer pocketsed coils make it really supportive, which I’ll explain below.
Purple Hybrid 2 feels simultaneously supportive and pressure-relieving. However, it has a slightly firmer profile. While the soft squares aren’t pushed into your hips or shoulders if you lie sideways, they don’t feel like a typical firm mattress. However, my back and spine feel reinforced by the Hyper Elastic Polymer layer. I find it a little firmer than my Original Purple mattress.

Purple Hybrids come in three versions, each with a different layer of Purple Grid gel.
The Purple Hybrid is four layers thick and around 11 inches tall. Here is a basic breakdown of the layers in the Purple Hybrid so that you can get an understanding of what makes Purple, Purple.
A thin slab about an inch thick of basic foam that supports the thick pocketed coil layer.
The mattress is made up of thick pockets of coils measuring 7.5 inches in diameter, each wrapped in fabric to limit movement transfer. This is the reason this mattress is so supportive.
A thin half an inch of foam to help neutralize the feel of the pocketed coils in the bed’s foundation.
Around 2 inches of the brand’s special Hyper-Elastic Polymer, laid out in a grid formation. This is the main layer that differentiates it from the Purple Hybrid mattress. Each mattress has a different thickness. It is soft, bouncy, and provides the most comfort of the Purple.
Dense foam slabs surround the edges to give the sides a more solid and stable feel.

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
The brand’s top-tier mattresses are the Purple Hybrid Premier and Purple Hybrid Premier. The top layers are what really make the difference in construction.
The Purple 3 has a 3-inch layer of Hyper-Elastic Polymer at the top, while Purple 4 has 4 inches.

Motion isolation
Motion isolation is not something that innerspring beds are known for, but the Purple Hybrid has pocketsed coils and special material that make it possible.
It seems to be quite capable of isolating motion, even though it is very bouncy.

Edge support
Purple Hybrid mattresses have firm foam at the edges that will hold you up if your body tends to lean towards the sides of the bed.
This is why I give the edge support capabilities of this mattress two thumbs up.
Temperature
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid is not made with any cooling material. Instead, its natural, breathable design makes it one the best mattresses for allowing airflow.
