First impressions
Purple Hybrid beds have purple details, which is great for those who love the color. The details in the cover give it a premium look, and you can tell it’s a bit more heavy-duty than the flagship Purple mattress. What does the Purple feel like?

Purple Hybrid mattress firmness/feel
Purple Hybrid mattress are soft and comfortable, no matter what model you purchase. You can feel the soft, squishy corners of the mattress bend and transform underneath if you place your hand on the middle.
It isn’t noticeable when you lie down. Instead, you feel buoyant and like you are floating on your back or in a hammock. However, the thick layer made of pocketed coils makes it extremely supportive.
Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously relieves pressure and supports, but has a slightly firmer profile. This Purple Hybrid 2 is around a medium-firm or 7 out 10 on my firmness scale. The soft squares don’t push into your hips and shoulders when you’re on your side like your typical firm bed, but my back and spine feel very reinforced above the bed’s Hyper-Elastic Polymer layer. I find it a little firmer than my Original Purple mattress.
If you aren’t open to exploring new ways of bedding but are curious about the Purple Hybrid then you may want to consider other options. The brand’s two upper-level hybrid beds have the same signature Purple feel, but they have a slightly softer profile because of their thicker layers of Hyper-Elastic Polymer.

Purple Hybrid comes as three different models. Each model has a different thickness Purple Grid gel layer.
The Purple Hybrid measures approximately 11 inches high and has four layers. This is a quick breakdown of the layers of the Purple Hybrid to give you an idea of what makes Purple, Purple.
A thin slab of basic foam about an inch thick, which supports the thick pocketed coil layer above.
A thick system of 7.5-inch pocketed coils, individually wrapped with fabric to help limit motion transfer across the mattress. This is the reason this mattress is so supportive.
A thin half inch of foam to help neutralize any sensations caused by the pockets in the bed’s base.
The Hyper Elastic Polymer brand uses covers that are approximately 2 inches in height. These are laid out in a grid-like pattern. This is the main layer which distinguishes it the Purple Hybrid mattresses. Every mattress has a different thickness. It is soft, bouncy and provides the majority of the Purple’s comfort.
To make the sides more stable and sturdy, dense foam slabs are surrounded by the edges.

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
Purple Hybrid Premier is the brand’s highest-end mattress option. The top layers of construction are the only significant differences.
Purple 3 has 3″ of Hyper-Elastic polymer at the top and Purple 4 has 4″.

Motion isolation
Motion isolation isn’t something innerspring beds are good at. But with the Purple Hybrid’s pocketsed coils as well as the special material inside, it’s an entirely different story.
It is quite good at isolating movement, even though it is super-bouncy.

Edge support
Purple Hybrid mattresses include firm foam on the edges. If you are prone to slipping during the night, the Purple Hybrid will keep you more secure.
This mattress has edge support capabilities that I am happy to give two thumbs up.
Temperature
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid does not have any fancy cooling materials. Its natural, breathable design means that it is one of the best mattresses available for allowing airflow.

Position
You can sleep in one of three primary positions: stomach, side, back or any combination. I think the Purple Hybrid will work best for back and stomach sleepers.

Type of body
The Purple Hybrid beds can be used regardless of body weight, so no matter what size you are, they will fit you perfectly.
Purple Hybrid mattresses can be used by all body types as they are more supportive of traditional foam beds like Casper or Nectar. The mattress has a layer of steel-pocketed coils in the bottom. Steel is much more durable that foam. The difference in how this mattress will hold up over time compared to an all-foam bed will be especially noticeable over the course of 10 years.
