Purple Hybrid Mattress delivers the same Purple feel with a stronger and more supportive construction. Purple Mattress Review Consumer Reports
Purple Hybrid Mattresses are made by the same company as Hyper-Elastic Polyester and the original Purple Bed. Purple offers three varieties of hybrid beds. These are appropriately named Purple Hybrid Premier 3 to Purple Hybrid Premier 4. Below I will discuss the reasons you might choose one over another and whether they are worth the price. Keep reading to discover if the Purple Hybrid mattress is right for YOU.
Purple Hybrid, also known by the Purple 2, measures 11 inches in thickness. It’s firmer than the other models and is suitable for stomach and back sleepers. It’s also the most economical Purple Hybrid mattress.
The Purple Hybrid Premier, formerly known as Purple 3, is 12 inches thick with a thicker Hyper-Elastic Polymer comfort layer. This makes it feel slightly softer, and it lands at a medium-firm to medium-firm level on the scale. Purple Mattress Review Consumer Reports
Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid bed is the most costly, but it is thicker than all Purple hybrid beds and provides extra support. It’s similar to the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 and has a medium or medium-firm profile. We believe it would suit any body type.
Purple Hybrid Mattress Video Review
Purple Hybrids have purple detailing all over the bed. It’s a great choice for someone who is passionate about the color. It’s more luxurious than the Purple Hybrid mattress, thanks to the premium cover. What does the Purple feel like?
It’s totally different from the innerspring mattress in Grandma’s guest room. It’s a completely new design for a bed and it ended up working in the company’s favor. Purple Mattress Review Consumer Reports
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness/feel
Regardless of the model you get, the Purple Hybrid mattresses are soft and airy without feeling like foam. Feel the squishy, squared shapes underneath the mattress by running your fingers along its center.
It’s not super noticeable when you’re laying down, it just feels buoyant like you’re floating on your back or laying on a hammock. The thick layer pocketsed coils make it really supportive, which I’ll explain below.
The Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously feels pressure-relieving and supportive, while maintaining a slightly firmer profile; I think it’s around a medium-firm, or 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The soft squares don’t push into your hips and shoulders when you’re on your side like your typical firm bed, but my back and spine feel very reinforced above the bed’s Hyper-Elastic Polymer layer. It’s firmer than the Original Purple mattress.
You might be interested in the Purple Hybrid, but aren’t ready to try out new bedding options. You might be happy with the benefits of the Purple Hybrid if you are open-minded to a mattress feeling that reduces pressure on your hips and shoulders while making you feel lighter. Purple Hybrid Premier
The brand’s two upper-level hybrid beds have the same signature Purple feel, but they have a slightly softer profile because of their thicker layers of Hyper-Elastic Polymer.
I think they both land in between a medium to medium-firm, or around a 6 on the firmness scale. Purple Mattress Review Consumer Reports
Construction of Purple Hybrid mattresses
The Purple Hybrid has four layers and is approximately 11 inches high. Here’s a simple breakdown of the bed’s layers so you get an idea of what makes Purple, Purple:
A thin slab of basic foam about an inch thick, which supports the thick pocketed coil layer above.
To limit motion transfer, the mattress features a thick system of 7.5-inch pocketsed coils that are individually wrapped with fabric. It’s what makes this mattress so supportive.
A thin half an inch of foam to help neutralize the feel of the pocketed coils in the bed’s foundation.
The brand’s Hyper-Elastic Polymer is approximately 2 inches thick, laid out in a grid pattern. This is the main layer which distinguishes it the Purple Hybrid mattresses. Every mattress has a different thickness. It’s soft, bouncy, and provides most Purple Hybrid’s comfort.
Surrounding the edges are dense foam slabs to make the sides feel more supportive and sturdy.
The Purple’s StretchMax cover is atop, and it is, as the name suggests, extra-stretchy. It is more breathable that a typical mattress cover. I liken it more to an antisweat sports undergarment rather than a soft top made of cotton. Purple Mattress Review Consumer Reports
Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
Two Purple Hybrid Premier mattresses are the best-selling mattress options. The only difference in construction is the top layers.
Purple 3 has 3″ of Hyper-Elastic polymer at the top and Purple 4 has 4″.
The Purple Hybrid is softer than these, although they don’t feel any different. Purple Mattress Review Consumer Reports
Motion isolation is not a common feature of innerspring beds, but the Purple Hybrid offers a different approach with its pocketed coils.
It’s quite good at isolating movements, even though the bed is super-bouncy.
It barely makes any noise, and it’s almost impossible to notice your partner moving on the opposite side. Purple Mattress Review Consumer Reports
Purple Hybrid mattresses include firm foam on the edges. If you are prone to slipping during the night, the Purple Hybrid will keep you more secure.
This is why I give the edge support capabilities of this mattress two thumbs up.
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. It’s not designed with any fancy cooling material, but instead, the Purple Grid’s natural breathable design makes it one of the best mattresses for allowing airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat like memory foam or poly foam might, making it appealing to hot sleepers like me who need the additional cooling relief. Purple isn’t cold to the touch but I don’t feel hot sleeping on it. Purple Mattress Review Consumer Reports
Purple Hybrid’s ideal positions for sleeping and body types
You wouldn’t expect every size shirt to fit at your local clothing store.
There are many options. Your preferred position and body type will determine the perfect mattress. Purple Mattress Review Consumer Reports
The primary sleeping positions are side, stomach, back or a combination of them all. The Purple Hybrid is best for stomach and back sleepers.
If you’re a side-sleeper and really want the Purple Hybrid I’d recommend one of the Purple Premier beds. These mattresses are softer than the standard hybrid model and will provide more relief for your shoulders and sides. Purple Mattress Review Consumer Reports
Type of body
The Purple Hybrid beds are perfect for anyone, regardless of their body type.
The Purple Hybrid mattresses are great for all body types because they are more supportive than typical foam beds like Nectar or Casper. They have that layer of steel pocketed coils on the bottom, and if you think about it, steel is much more durable than foam. It will be noticeable how the mattress will perform over the years compared with an all foam mattress. Purple Mattress Review Consumer Reports
Purple Hybrids are more expensive than original Purples. They also tend to be less affordable for those who need to spend as little as possible on a brand new bed. You might find it reasonable if you want to invest in your nights of sleep.
Purple Hybrid mattresses come in sizes from twin-XL to California-king. Prices start from $1,299 and can go all the way to $1.899. The bed is not usually discounted, but there may be a promotion for free sheets or pillows.
Purple Hybrid Mattress has metal coils enclosed in foam to offer support, softness, and durability.
