Purple Hybrid mattress firmness and feel
Purple Hybrid beds are soft, airy and don’t feel like foam no matter what model they come in. When you run your hand down the center of the mattress, you can feel the squishy squares bend and morph underneath.
While it’s not obvious when you lay down, it feels like you’re floating on the back of a hammock or on your stomach. The thick layer pocketsed coils make it really supportive, which I’ll explain below.
Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously relieves pressure and supports, but has a slightly firmer profile. This Purple Hybrid 2 is around a medium-firm or 7 out 10 on my firmness scale. The soft squares don’t push into your hips and shoulders when you’re on your side like your typical firm bed, but my back and spine feel very reinforced above the bed’s Hyper-Elastic Polymer layer. I like it a bit more firm than the Original Purple.

Purple Hybrid mattress construction
The Purple Hybrid comes in three different models, each with a different thickness of the Purple Grid gel layer.
The Purple Hybrid has four layers and is approximately 11 inches high. Here is a basic breakdown of the layers in the Purple Hybrid so that you can get an understanding of what makes Purple, Purple.
A thin slab of basic foam about an inch thick, which supports the thick pocketed coil layer above.
A thick system containing 7.5-inch coils in pockets, each individually wrapped with fabric to prevent motion transfer. It is what makes this mattress so comfortable.
To neutralize the feeling of the coils within the foundation of the bed, add a thin 1/2 inch of foam.
2 inches of Hyper-Elastic Pomer from the brand, laid out in grid formation. This layer is what distinguishes the Purple Hybrid mattress from the others. Each mattress’s thickness varies. It’s soft, bouncy, and provides most Purple Hybrid’s comfort.
Surrounding the edges are dense foam slabs to make the sides feel more supportive and sturdy.

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
The brand’s top-tier mattresses are the Purple Hybrid Premier and Purple Hybrid Premier. Really, the only major differences in construction are the top layers.
Purple 3 has 3inches of Hyper Elastic Polymer at the top. Purple 4 has 4inches.

Motion isolation
Motion isolation is not something that innerspring beds are known for, but the Purple Hybrid has pocketsed coils and special material that make it possible.
It’s quite good at isolating movements, even though the bed is super-bouncy.
