The Purple Hybrid mattress delivers the same signature Purple feel, but with a more durable and supportive construction. Purple Mattress Return Experience
From the company that gave you Hyper-Elastic Polymer and the original Purple bed comes the big-and-sturdy Purple Hybrid mattresses. Purple actually offers three hybrid beds: the Purple Hybrid and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 & 4. Below, I will explore the various reasons you may choose one over the others and whether the cost is worth it. Find out if a Purple Hybrid Mattress is right for you.
Purple Hybrid, also called the Purple 2, is the thinnest hybrid option and measures in at 11 inches. It is firmer than any of the other models, and it is great for stomach or back sleepers. It is also the most affordable Purple Hybrid model.
The Purple Hybrid Premier, also known as Purple 3 is 12 in thick and features a thicker Hyperelastic Polymer comfort coating. This makes it feel slightly softer, and it lands at a medium-firm to medium-firm level on the scale. Purple Mattress Return Experience
Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid hybrid bed is the most expensive, but it is 13 inches thicker and more supportive than the others. It is similar to the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 in that it has a medium-firm profile. We think it would be suitable for most body types.
Purple Hybrid Mattress Video Review
Purple Hybrid beds have purple details, which is great for those who love the color. Its premium appearance is due to the high-quality cover. What does the Purple feel like?
It’s certainly not the same innerspring mattress that Grandma used in her guest room. It’s a completely new design for a bed and it ended up working in the company’s favor. Purple Mattress Return Experience
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness & Feel
Purple Hybrid beds are soft, airy and don’t feel like foam no matter what model they come in. When you run your hand down the center of the mattress, you can feel the squishy squares bend and morph underneath.
It’s not super noticeable when you’re laying down, it just feels buoyant like you’re floating on your back or laying on a hammock. It’s very supportive due to the thick layer pocketed coils. I’ll explain this further below.
Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously provides pressure relief and support, while also maintaining a firmer profile. I believe it to be around a medium firm, or 7 on the firmness scale. Although the soft squares won’t press into your hips or shoulders when you lie on your back, my spine and back feel reinforced by the Hyper-Elastic Polymer layer. I think it’s a tad bit firmer than the Original Purple mattress.
You might be interested in the Purple Hybrid, but aren’t ready to try out new bedding options. It might appeal to you if the mattress feels like it is releasing pressure from your hips, shoulders, back and making you feel lighter. Purple Mattress Return Experience
Purple Hybrid Premier
Although they share the brand’s signature Purple feel, the two higher-level hybrid beds are slightly different because they contain thicker layers Hyper-Elastic Polymer.
They both fall between medium to medium-firm or about a 6 on my firmness scale. Purple Mattress Return Experience
Purple Hybrid mattress construction
The Purple Hybrid has four layers and is approximately 11 inches high. Below is a breakdown of each layer of the Purple Hybrid bed. This will give you an idea about what makes Purple and Purple.
A thin slab of basic Foam about an inch in thickness, which supports the thick pocketed coil above.
A thick system containing 7.5-inch coils in pockets, each individually wrapped with fabric to prevent motion transfer. It is what makes this mattress so comfortable.
A thin half an inch of foam to help neutralize the feel of the pocketed coils in the bed’s foundation.
2 inches of Hyper-Elastic Pomer from the brand, laid out in grid formation. This is the layer that makes it different from the Purple Hybrids. Each mattress has an individual thickness. It provides most of Purple’s comfort.
Surrounding the edges are dense foam slabs to make the sides feel more supportive and sturdy.
The Purple’s StretchMax cover is atop, and it is, as the name suggests, extra-stretchy. I think it feels more breathable than your typical mattress cover and compare the feel more to an athletic antisweat undergarment than a soft cotton top. Purple Mattress Return Experience
Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
Purple Hybrid Premier is the brand’s highest-end mattress option. Only the top layers make up the main difference in construction.
The Purple 3 has a 3-inch layer of Hyper-Elastic Polymer at the top, while Purple 4 has 4 inches.
The Purple Hybrid is softer than these, although they don’t feel any different. Purple Mattress Return Experience
Motion isolation isn’t usually an innerspring bed’s forte, but with the pocketed coils and special material you find in the Purple Hybrid, it’s a different story.
It’s quite good at isolating movements, even though the bed is super-bouncy.
It almost makes no sound, so you’ll barely be able notice your partner’s movements on the other. Purple Mattress Return Experience
The Purple Hybrid mattresses are constructed with firm foam around the edges to hold your body up more firmly if you tend to creep towards the side of the bed during the night.
So, I give this mattress the enthusiastic thumbs up for edge support.
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. It’s not designed with any fancy cooling material, but instead, the Purple Grid’s natural breathable design makes it one of the best mattresses for allowing airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat in the same way as memory foam or Poly foam. This makes Purple a great choice for hot sleepers who need extra cooling. The Purple is not cold to my skin, but it doesn’t make me feel hot. Purple Mattress Return Experience
Purple Hybrid’s ideal sleeping positions and body types
You wouldn’t expect to find the right size shirt at your favorite clothing shop, so don’t assume that every mattress will be accommodating.
Because there are so many choices, it is important to choose carefully. The best mattress for you will depend on your body type and the position that you prefer to sleep in. Purple Mattress Return Experience
You can sleep in one of three primary positions: stomach, side, back or any combination. Purple Hybrids will be most suitable for stomach and back sleepers.
The Purple Premier mattress is the best option for side sleepers. These mattresses are slightly softer and less pressure-relieving than standard hybrid models, which will benefit your shoulders and sides more. Purple Mattress Return Experience
Type of body
No matter your body type, no matter if you are 105 lbs or 250 lbs, the Purple Hybrid Beds will suit you perfectly.
Purple Hybrid beds are better for all types of bodies than regular foam beds like Casper, Nectar and Casper. They have that layer of steel pocketed coils on the bottom, and if you think about it, steel is much more durable than foam. You will notice a difference in the durability of this mattress over a period of 10 years compared to an all foam bed. Purple Mattress Return Experience
Purple Hybrids are more expensive than original Purples. They also tend to be less affordable for those who need to spend as little as possible on a brand new bed. If you’re looking to invest in your night’s sleep, though, it’s very possible you see it as a reasonable price.
Purple Hybrid mattresses are available from twin XL up to California king. Prices start at $1,299 and go all the way up to $1,899. They don’t usually run discounts for this bed, but they may have a promotion going for free sheets or pillows with your purchase.
Purple Hybrid mattress features metal coils wrapped in foam to provide support and softness.
