Purple Mattress Long Term Review – Our Purple Mattress Hybrid Review 2021

The Purple Hybrid mattress delivers the same signature Purple feel, but with a more durable and supportive construction. Purple Mattress Long Term Review

Purple Hybrid Mattresses are made by the same company as Hyper-Elastic Polyester and the original Purple Bed. Purple offers three varieties of hybrid beds. These are appropriately named Purple Hybrid Premier 3 to Purple Hybrid Premier 4. Below I will explain why you might prefer one to the other and how they compare with the rest. You will find out if Purple Hybrid mattresses are right for you.

Purple Hybrid , also known as the Purple 2, is the thinnest of the hybrid options and stands at 11 inches thick. It’s also firmer than the other two models and is ideal for back or stomach sleepers. It’s also the most economical Purple Hybrid mattress.

The Purple Hybrid Premier is 12 inches thick and has a thicker Hyper Elastic Polymer comfort layer. This makes it feel a bit softer and lands around a medium to medium-firm on the scale. Purple Mattress Long Term Review

Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid bed is the most costly, but it is thicker than all Purple hybrid beds and provides extra support. The Purple Hybrid Premier 4 has a medium to firm profile, which we believe would suit most body types.

First impressions

The Purple Hybrid incorporates purple detailing throughout the bed, a great touch for an avid lover of the color. The cover has premium details that give it a more luxurious look than the Purple flagship mattress. The most important thing people want to learn about this mattress is how it feels.

It’s quite different than the innerspring mattress in Grandma’s guest room, and I will tell you that. This is a novel concept for a bed, and I believe it worked in the company’s favor. Purple Mattress Long Term Review

Purple Hybrid mattress firmness/feel

No matter which model you choose, Purple Hybrid mattresses feel soft and airy but not like foam. You can feel the soft, squishy corners of the mattress bend and transform underneath if you place your hand on the middle.

It isn’t noticeable when you lie down. Instead, you feel buoyant and like you are floating on your back or in a hammock. The thick layer of pocketsed coils underneath makes it very supportive.

The Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously feels supportive and pressure-relieving, but it also has a slightly firmer profile. It’s 7/10 on the firmness scale. The soft squares don’t push into your hips and shoulders when you’re on your side like your typical firm bed, but my back and spine feel very reinforced above the bed’s Hyper-Elastic Polymer layer. I think it’s a tad bit firmer than the Original Purple mattress.

You might be interested in the Purple Hybrid, but aren’t ready to try out new bedding options. If you are open to the idea of a mattress that relieves pressure from your hips, shoulders, and back, while also making you feel light, this might be a good choice for you. Purple Hybrid Premier

Although they share the brand’s signature Purple feel, the two higher-level hybrid beds are slightly different because they contain thicker layers Hyper-Elastic Polymer.

I think they both land in between a medium to medium-firm, or around a 6 on the firmness scale. Purple Mattress Long Term Review

Purple Hybrid mattress construction

Purple Mattress Long Term ReviewThere are three types of Purple Hybrids, each with a different Purple Grid gel layer thickness.

The Purple Hybrid has 4 layers and measures around 11 inches high. Below is a breakdown of each layer of the Purple Hybrid bed. This will give you an idea about what makes Purple and Purple.

A thin slab made of basic foam approximately one inch thick that supports the thick layer of pocketed coils above.

A thick system containing 7.5-inch coils in pockets, each individually wrapped with fabric to prevent motion transfer. This is the reason this mattress is so supportive.

A thin half inch of foam to help neutralize any sensations caused by the pockets in the bed’s base.

The brand’s Hyper-Elastic Polymer is approximately 2 inches thick, laid out in a grid pattern. This is the primary layer that distinguishes it from the other two Purple Hybrid mattresses — each mattress has a different thickness of this layer. It is soft, bouncy and provides the majority of the Purple’s comfort.

Dense foam slabs surround the edges to give the sides a more solid and stable feel.

Purple’s StretchMax Cover is on the top. It’s very stretchy, just as its name suggests. It feels more breathable than traditional mattress covers. I compare it to an athletic antisweat top rather than a soft cotton one. Purple Mattress Long Term Review

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers

The Purple Hybrid Premier mattress is the highest-rated option from the brand. Only the top layers make up the main difference in construction.

Purple 3 has a layer of Hyper elastic Polymer at its top that measures 3 inches, while Purple 4 has 4 inches.

It doesn’t make a huge difference in feel, but they are softer than the Purple Hybrid. Purple Mattress Long Term Review

Motion isolation

Motion isolation is not something that innerspring beds are known for, but the Purple Hybrid has pocketsed coils and special material that make it possible.

It seems to be quite capable of isolating motion, even though it is very bouncy.

It is almost silent and your partner will not be able hear you. Purple Mattress Long Term Review

Edge support

Purple Hybrid mattresses include firm foam on the edges. If you are prone to slipping during the night, the Purple Hybrid will keep you more secure.

This is why I give the edge support capabilities of this mattress two thumbs up.

Temperature

The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid has a natural breathable structure that allows for airflow.

It doesn’t retain heat as memory foam and poly foam might. This makes it attractive to hot sleepers such as me, who require additional cooling. Purple isn’t cold to the touch but I don’t feel hot sleeping on it. Purple Mattress Long Term Review

Purple Hybrid’s best sleeping positions and body types

You wouldn’t expect that you would fit into every size shirt at your favorite clothes store.

There are many options. Generally, your perfect mattress comes down to your body type and your favorite position to sleep in. Purple Mattress Long Term Review

Position

You can sleep in one of three primary positions: stomach, side, back or any combination. The Purple Hybrid is best for stomach and back sleepers.

I would recommend the Purple Premier mattresses to side sleepers who really want the Purple Hybrid. They are a little more soft and pressure-relieving that the standard hybrid model, which will make them more beneficial for your sides and shoulders. Purple Mattress Long Term Review

Body type

No matter what your body size, no matter how heavy or light, the Purple Hybrid bed will work for you.

Purple Hybrid mattresses work well for everyone because they offer more support than traditional foam beds such as Casper or Nectar. The mattress has a layer of steel-pocketed coils in the bottom. Steel is much more durable that foam. It will be noticeable how the mattress will perform over the years compared with an all foam mattress. Purple Mattress Long Term Review

Price

The Purple Hybrid bed is more expensive than the original Purple. This is not a good option for those who want to spend as little money as possible on a new mattress. You might find it reasonable if you want to invest in your nights of sleep.

Purple Hybrid mattresses are available in sizes ranging from twin XL to California King. Prices start at $1299 and go up until $1,899. They don’t usually run discounts for this bed, but they may have a promotion going for free sheets or pillows with your purchase.

Purple Hybrid mattresses are made with metal coils and foam that provide support and softness.
