Purple Hybrid mattresses have the same Purple feel, but with a more sturdy and supportive construction. Purple Mattress Logo
Purple Hybrid mattresses come from the same company that made Hyper-Elastic Pomer and the original Purple bed. Purple offers three varieties of hybrid beds. These are appropriately named Purple Hybrid Premier 3 to Purple Hybrid Premier 4. Below I will explain why you might prefer one to the other and how they compare with the rest. Stick around to find out if a Purple Hybrid mattress is the right choice for you.
Purple Hybrid, also known by the Purple 2, measures 11 inches in thickness. It’s also firmer than the other two models and is ideal for back or stomach sleepers. With that said, it’s the most affordable Purple Hybrid mattress.
The Purple Hybrid Premier, also known as Purple 3 is 12 in thick and features a thicker Hyperelastic Polymer comfort coating. This makes the Purple Hybrid Premier feel a bit more soft and places it around a medium to moderate-firm scale. Purple Mattress Logo
Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid Hybrid is the most expensive Purple hybrid bed, but it’s also thicker (13 inches) and offers extra support. Like the Purple Hybrid Premier 3, it has a medium to medium-firm profile, and we think it would suit all body types.
Purple Hybrid Mattress Video Review
Purple Hybrid beds have purple details, which is great for those who love the color. It has a premium appearance thanks to the fine details on the cover. You can also tell that it is a bit heavier than the Purple flagship mattress. People want to know what the Purple feels like.
It’s quite different than the innerspring mattress in Grandma’s guest room, and I will tell you that. This bed is an entirely new concept that I believe worked well for the company. Purple Mattress Logo
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness, feel and feel
Purple Hybrid mattress are soft and comfortable, no matter what model you purchase. The purple squares can be felt under your fingertips if you move your hand along the mattress’s center.
While it’s not obvious when you lay down, it feels like you’re floating on the back of a hammock or on your stomach. Though, it’s also really supportive because of the thick layer of pocketed coils, which I’ll explain more below.
The Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously feels pressure-relieving and supportive, while maintaining a slightly firmer profile; I think it’s around a medium-firm, or 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The soft squares don’t push into your hips and shoulders when you’re on your side like your typical firm bed, but my back and spine feel very reinforced above the bed’s Hyper-Elastic Polymer layer. I find it a little firmer than my Original Purple mattress.
If you’re curious about the Purple Hybrid but you aren’t willing to explore unconventional ways of bedding, you might want to look elsewhere. You might be happy with the benefits of the Purple Hybrid if you are open-minded to a mattress feeling that reduces pressure on your hips and shoulders while making you feel lighter. Purple Hybrid Premier
The brand’s two hybrid beds at the top of the range have the same Purple feel. However they are slightly more softened by thicker layers hyper elastic polymer.
They are between medium and medium-firm. I would say they’re about 6 on the firmness spectrum. Purple Mattress Logo
Purple Hybrid mattress construction
The Purple Hybrid is four layers thick and around 11 inches tall. Let’s take a look at the layers of this bed to get an idea of how Purple and Purple are made.
A thin layer of basic foam, about one-inch thick, that supports the thick pocketed coil layers above.
A thick system containing 7.5-inch coils in pockets, each individually wrapped with fabric to prevent motion transfer. It is what makes this mattress so comfortable.
A thin half inch of foam to help neutralize any sensations caused by the pockets in the bed’s base.
Around 2 inches of the brand’s special Hyper-Elastic Polymer, laid out in a grid formation. This is the main layer that differentiates it from the Purple Hybrid mattress. Each mattress has a different thickness. It is soft, bouncy, and provides the most comfort of the Purple.
To make the sides more stable and sturdy, dense foam slabs are surrounded by the edges.
Purple’s StretchMax (or Extra-Stretchy) cover can be found on the top. It feels more breathable than traditional mattress covers. I compare it to an athletic antisweat top rather than a soft cotton one. Purple Mattress Logo
Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
The brand’s top-tier mattresses are the Purple Hybrid Premier and Purple Hybrid Premier. Only the top layers make up the main difference in construction.
Purple 3 has 3″ of Hyper-Elastic polymer at the top and Purple 4 has 4″.
It doesn’t make a huge difference in feel, but they are softer than the Purple Hybrid. Purple Mattress Logo
Motion isolation is not something that innerspring beds are known for, but the Purple Hybrid has pocketsed coils and special material that make it possible.
It is quite good at isolating movement, even though it is super-bouncy.
It barely makes any noise, and it’s almost impossible to notice your partner moving on the opposite side. Purple Mattress Logo
Purple Hybrid mattress are made with firm foam around edges to keep your body upright if you find yourself slipping towards the side of bed at night.
This mattress has edge support capabilities that I am happy to give two thumbs up.
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. It’s not designed with any fancy cooling material, but instead, the Purple Grid’s natural breathable design makes it one of the best mattresses for allowing airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat in the same way as memory foam or Poly foam. This makes Purple a great choice for hot sleepers who need extra cooling. Although it’s not cold, I don’t feel too hot when I sleep on the Purple. Purple Mattress Logo
Purple Hybrid’s ideal sleeping positions and body types
You wouldn’t expect that you would fit into every size shirt at your favorite clothes store.
Because there are so many choices, it is important to choose carefully. Your preferred position and body type will determine the perfect mattress. Purple Mattress Logo
There are three main sleeping positions: side, stomach or back. Purple Hybrids are best for stomach and back sleeping.
If you are a side sleeper, the Purple Hybrid mattress would be a good choice. These mattresses are slightly softer and less pressure-relieving than standard hybrid models, which will benefit your shoulders and sides more. Purple Mattress Logo
Type of body
Regardless of your body type, whether you weigh 105 pounds or 250 pounds, I think the Purple Hybrid beds will be perfectly suitable for you.
Purple Hybrid beds are better for all types of bodies than regular foam beds like Casper, Nectar and Casper. The bottom layer is made of steel coils with pockets. Steel is more durable than foam. This mattress will last 10 years longer than an all-foam one. Purple Mattress Logo
The Purple Hybrid is more costly than the original Purple and may not be the best choice for those looking to spend as low as possible on a bed. If you’re looking for a way to improve your night’s rest, however, you might consider it a reasonable price.
Purple Hybrid mattresses can be purchased in sizes from twinXL to California queen. The prices start at $1,299, and can go up to $1,899. You won’t find any discounts on this bed but they may offer free sheets or pillows when you buy.
Purple Hybrid mattress features metal coils wrapped in foam to provide support and softness.
