The Purple Hybrid mattress delivers the same signature Purple feel, but with a more durable and supportive construction. Purple Mattress Locations
Purple Hybrid Mattresses are made by the same company as Hyper-Elastic Polyester and the original Purple Bed. Purple offers three kinds of hybrid beds. The Purple Hybrid, Purple Hybrid Premier 3/3 and Purple Hybrid Premier 4 are the appropriate names. Below, I’ll dive into the different reasons why you may want one over the other, and if they’re worth their price in general. Continue reading to learn if a Purple Hybrid is right for your needs.
Purple Hybrid, also called the Purple 2, is the thinnest hybrid option and measures in at 11 inches. It is also more firm than the other models, making it ideal for stomach or back sleepers. With that said, it’s the most affordable Purple Hybrid mattress.
The Purple Hybrid Premier is 12 inches thick and has a thicker Hyper Elastic Polymer comfort layer. This makes it feel a touch softer and it is around a medium-firm. Purple Mattress Locations
Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid Hybrid beds are the most expensive. However, it’s 13 inches thick and extra supportive. Like the Purple Hybrid Premier 3, it has a medium to medium-firm profile, and we think it would suit all body types.
Purple Hybrid Mattress Video Review
Purple Hybrid beds have purple details, which is great for those who love the color. The details in the cover give it a premium look, and you can tell it’s a bit more heavy-duty than the flagship Purple mattress. The most important thing people want to learn about this mattress is how it feels.
Well, it’s completely different from the innerspring mattress in the guest room at Grandma’s, I’ll tell you that much. It’s an innovative concept for a mattress that I think worked in the company’s favor. Purple Mattress Locations
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness/feel
Purple Hybrid mattresses, regardless of which model you buy, are soft and airy. They don’t feel like foam. Feel the squishy, squared shapes underneath the mattress by running your fingers along its center.
It isn’t noticeable when you lie down. Instead, you feel buoyant and like you are floating on your back or in a hammock. The thick layer pocketsed coils make it really supportive, which I’ll explain below.
The Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously feels pressure-relieving and supportive, while maintaining a slightly firmer profile; I think it’s around a medium-firm, or 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The soft squares of the Purple Hybrid 2 don’t push against your hips and shoulders like a regular firm bed. However, I feel my back and spine are reinforced by Hyper-ElasticPolymer. I think it’s a tad bit firmer than the Original Purple mattress.
You might be interested in the Purple Hybrid, but aren’t ready to try out new bedding options. If you are open to the idea of a mattress that relieves pressure from your hips, shoulders, and back, while also making you feel light, this might be a good choice for you. Purple Mattress Locations
Purple Hybrid Premier
The brand’s two hybrid beds at the top of the range have the same Purple feel. However they are slightly more softened by thicker layers hyper elastic polymer.
I think they both land in between a medium to medium-firm, or around a 6 on the firmness scale. Purple Mattress Locations
Purple Hybrid mattress construction
The Purple Hybrid is four layers thick and around 11 inches tall. Let’s take a look at the layers of this bed to get an idea of how Purple and Purple are made.
A thin layer of basic foam, about one-inch thick, that supports the thick pocketed coil layers above.
A thick system containing 7.5-inch coils in pockets, each individually wrapped with fabric to prevent motion transfer. It is what makes this mattress so comfortable.
A thin half an inch of foam to help neutralize the feel of the pocketed coils in the bed’s foundation.
2 inches of Hyper-Elastic Pomer from the brand, laid out in grid formation. This is the main layer which distinguishes it the Purple Hybrid mattresses. Every mattress has a different thickness. It’s soft, bouncy, and provides most Purple Hybrid’s comfort.
Dense foam slabs surround the edges to give the sides a more solid and stable feel.
On top is the Purple’s “StretchMax” cover, and just like the name implies, it’s extra-stretchy. I think it feels more breathable than your typical mattress cover and compare the feel more to an athletic antisweat undergarment than a soft cotton top. Purple Mattress Locations
Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
Two Purple Hybrid Premier mattresses are the best-selling mattress options. The top layers are what really make the difference in construction.
Purple 3 has a layer of Hyper elastic Polymer at its top that measures 3 inches, while Purple 4 has 4 inches.
The Purple Hybrid is softer than these, although they don’t feel any different. Purple Mattress Locations
Motion isolation is not a common feature of innerspring beds, but the Purple Hybrid offers a different approach with its pocketed coils.
I think it’s pretty good at isolating motion, even if it is a super-bouncy bed.
It barely makes any noise, and it’s almost impossible to notice your partner moving on the opposite side. Purple Mattress Locations
Purple Hybrid mattresses feature firm foam around the edges. This is to prevent you from slipping on the edges of the mattress.
This mattress has edge support capabilities that I am happy to give two thumbs up.
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid has a natural breathable structure that allows for airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat like memory foam or poly foam might, making it appealing to hot sleepers like me who need the additional cooling relief. It’s not cold to the touch, but I really don’t feel hot while sleeping on the Purple. Purple Mattress Locations
Purple Hybrid’s best sleeping positions and body types
You wouldn’t be able to wear every shirt in your favorite clothing store. The same goes for mattresses.
You have so many options. Your preferred position and body type will determine the perfect mattress. Purple Mattress Locations
The main sleeping positions are stomach, back, or side. I think the Purple Hybrid will work best for back and stomach sleepers.
If you are a side sleeper, the Purple Hybrid mattress would be a good choice. These mattresses are slightly softer and less pressure-relieving than standard hybrid models, which will benefit your shoulders and sides more. Purple Mattress Locations
Type of body
No matter what your body size, no matter how heavy or light, the Purple Hybrid bed will work for you.
The Purple Hybrid mattresses are great for all body types because they are more supportive than typical foam beds like Nectar or Casper. The mattress has a layer of steel-pocketed coils in the bottom. Steel is much more durable that foam. You will notice a difference in the durability of this mattress over a period of 10 years compared to an all foam bed. Purple Mattress Locations
The Purple Hybrid is more expensive than the original Purple, of course, and isn’t the best for people who are trying to spend as little as they can on a new bed. The Purple Hybrid is a good choice if your goal is to invest in your evening’s sleep.
Purple Hybrid mattresses can be purchased in sizes from twinXL to California queen. Prices start at $1,299 and go all the way up to $1,899. Although they don’t often offer discounts on this bed, they might have a promotion that includes free sheets and pillows.
Purple Hybrid mattress features metal coils wrapped in foam to provide support and softness.
