First impressions
The Purple Hybrid incorporates purple detailing throughout the bed, a great touch for an avid lover of the color. It’s more luxurious than the Purple Hybrid mattress, thanks to the premium cover. What does the Purple feel like?

Purple Hybrid mattress firmness/feel
Purple Hybrid mattress are soft and comfortable, no matter what model you purchase. Feel the squishy, squared shapes underneath the mattress by running your fingers along its center.
It’s barely noticeable when you lie down. It just feels buoyant, like you’re floating in your hammock or on top of your head. It’s very supportive due to the thick layer pocketed coils. I’ll explain this further below.
Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously provides pressure relief and support, while also maintaining a firmer profile. I believe it to be around a medium firm, or 7 on the firmness scale. The soft squares do not press into your hips and shoulders, unlike a traditional firm bed. But my back and spine feel extremely reinforced thanks to the Hyper-Elastic polymer layer. I feel it is a touch firmer that the Original Purple.

The brand’s two highest-level hybrid beds feature the same Purple feel. However, they have a slightly softer profile due to thicker layers made of Hyper-Elastic Pomer.

There are three types of Purple Hybrids, each with a different Purple Grid gel layer thickness.
The Purple Hybrid’s four layers are approximately 11 inches in height and has four layers. Here is a basic breakdown of the layers in the Purple Hybrid so that you can get an understanding of what makes Purple, Purple.
A thin slab of basic foam about an inch thick, which supports the thick pocketed coil layer above.
A thick system containing 7.5-inch coils in pockets, each individually wrapped with fabric to prevent motion transfer. It is the foundation of this mattress’s support.
To neutralize the feeling of the coils within the foundation of the bed, add a thin 1/2 inch of foam.
Around 2 inches of the brand’s special Hyper-Elastic Polymer, laid out in a grid formation. This is the layer that makes it different from the Purple Hybrids. Each mattress has an individual thickness. It provides most of Purple’s comfort.
The dense foam slabs that surround the edges make the sides more sturdy and supportive.

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
Purple Hybrid Premier is the brand’s highest-end mattress option. Really, the only major differences in construction are the top layers.
Purple 3 has a layer of Hyper elastic Polymer at its top that measures 3 inches, while Purple 4 has 4 inches.

Motion isolation
Motion isolation isn’t something innerspring beds are good at. But with the Purple Hybrid’s pocketsed coils as well as the special material inside, it’s an entirely different story.
I think it’s pretty good at isolating motion, even if it is a super-bouncy bed.

Edge support
Purple Hybrid mattress are made with firm foam around edges to keep your body upright if you find yourself slipping towards the side of bed at night.
This is why I give the edge support capabilities of this mattress two thumbs up.
Temperature
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. It’s not designed with any fancy cooling material, but instead, the Purple Grid’s natural breathable design makes it one of the best mattresses for allowing airflow.
