Purple Hybrid mattress offers the same Purple feel as its predecessor, but is more durable and supports your body. Purple Mattress Faq
From the company that gave you Hyper-Elastic Polymer and the original Purple bed comes the big-and-sturdy Purple Hybrid mattresses. Purple actually has three types of hybrid beds. They are appropriately named the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 or 4 and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 or 4. Below, I will explore the various reasons you may choose one over the others and whether the cost is worth it. You will find out if Purple Hybrid mattresses are right for you.
Purple Hybrid is also known as Purple 2 and is 11 inches thick. It’s also firmer than the other two models and is ideal for back or stomach sleepers. It’s also the most affordable Purple Hybrid Mattress.
The Purple Hybrid Premier, formerly known as Purple 3, is 12 inches thick with a thicker Hyper-Elastic Polymer comfort layer. This makes it feel slightly softer, and it lands at a medium-firm to medium-firm level on the scale. Purple Mattress Faq
Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid Hybrid beds are the most expensive. However, it’s 13 inches thick and extra supportive. The Purple Hybrid Premier 4 has a medium to firm profile, which we believe would suit most body types.

First impressions
Purple Hybrids have purple detailing all over the bed. It’s a great choice for someone who is passionate about the color. The cover has premium details that give it a more luxurious look than the Purple flagship mattress. What does the Purple mattress feel like?
It’s totally different from the innerspring mattress in Grandma’s guest room. This is a novel concept for a bed, and I believe it worked in the company’s favor. Purple Mattress Faq
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness & Feel
Purple Hybrid mattresses, regardless of which model you buy, are soft and airy. They don’t feel like foam. When you run your hand down the center of the mattress, you can feel the squishy squares bend and morph underneath.
It’s not super noticeable when you’re laying down, it just feels buoyant like you’re floating on your back or laying on a hammock. Though, it’s also really supportive because of the thick layer of pocketed coils, which I’ll explain more below.
The Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously feels supportive and pressure-relieving, but it also has a slightly firmer profile. It’s 7/10 on the firmness scale. The soft squares do not press into your hips and shoulders, unlike a traditional firm bed. But my back and spine feel extremely reinforced thanks to the Hyper-Elastic polymer layer. I like it a bit more firm than the Original Purple.
If you’re interested in the Purple Hybrid but don’t have the time or desire to explore other types of bedding, it might be worth looking elsewhere. The Purple Hybrid might be for you if it offers a mattress feel that is both supportive and light on the hips, shoulders and back. Purple Mattress Faq
Purple Hybrid Premier
The brand’s two highest-level hybrid beds feature the same Purple feel. However, they have a slightly softer profile due to thicker layers made of Hyper-Elastic Pomer.
I believe they are both medium-firms, or approximately a 6, on the firmness scale. Purple Mattress Faq
Purple Hybrid mattress construction
Purple Hybrid comes as three different models. Each model has a different thickness Purple Grid gel layer.
The Purple Hybrid’s four layers are approximately 11 inches in height and has four layers. Below is a breakdown of each layer of the Purple Hybrid bed. This will give you an idea about what makes Purple and Purple.
A thin layer of basic foam, about one-inch thick, that supports the thick pocketed coil layers above.
The mattress is made up of thick pockets of coils measuring 7.5 inches in diameter, each wrapped in fabric to limit movement transfer. This is the reason this mattress is so supportive.
A thin half an inch of foam to help neutralize the feel of the pocketed coils in the bed’s foundation.
Around 2 inches of the brand’s special Hyper-Elastic Polymer, laid out in a grid formation. This is the main layer that differentiates it from the Purple Hybrid mattress. Each mattress has a different thickness. It is soft, bouncy and provides the majority of the Purple’s comfort.
Surrounding the edges are dense foam slabs to make the sides feel more supportive and sturdy.
On top is the Purple’s “StretchMax” cover, and just like the name implies, it’s extra-stretchy. It’s more breathable than any standard mattress cover. You can compare the feel to a soft cotton top or an athletic antisweat shirt. Purple Mattress Faq

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
Purple Hybrid Premier is the brand’s highest-end mattress option. Only the top layers make up the main difference in construction.
Purple 3 has 3″ of Hyper-Elastic polymer at the top and Purple 4 has 4″.
They are slightly softer than the Purple Hybrid, although it doesn’t make much difference in feel. Purple Mattress Faq
Motion isolation
Motion isolation isn’t usually an innerspring bed’s forte, but with the pocketed coils and special material you find in the Purple Hybrid, it’s a different story.
I think it’s pretty good at isolating motion, even if it is a super-bouncy bed.
It virtually makes no noise, and you’ll hardly be able to notice your partner moving around on the other side. Purple Mattress Faq
Edge support
Purple Hybrid mattresses feature firm foam around the edges. This is to prevent you from slipping on the edges of the mattress.
So, I give this mattress the enthusiastic thumbs up for edge support.
Temperature
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid is not made with any cooling material. Instead, its natural, breathable design makes it one the best mattresses for allowing airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat in the same way as memory foam or Poly foam. This makes Purple a great choice for hot sleepers who need extra cooling. Although it’s not cold, I don’t feel too hot when I sleep on the Purple. Purple Mattress Faq
Purple Hybrid’s ideal positions for sleeping and body types
You wouldn’t be able to wear every shirt in your favorite clothing store. The same goes for mattresses.
Because there are so many choices, it is important to choose carefully. Generally, your perfect mattress comes down to your body type and your favorite position to sleep in. Purple Mattress Faq
Position
There are three main sleeping positions: side, stomach or back. Purple Hybrids are best for stomach and back sleeping.
If you’re a side-sleeper and really want the Purple Hybrid I’d recommend one of the Purple Premier beds. These mattresses are softer than the standard hybrid model and will provide more relief for your shoulders and sides. Purple Mattress Faq
Type of body
The Purple Hybrid beds are perfect for anyone, regardless of their body type.
The Purple Hybrid mattresses are great for all body types because they are more supportive than typical foam beds like Nectar or Casper. They have that layer of steel pocketed coils on the bottom, and if you think about it, steel is much more durable than foam. You will notice a difference in the durability of this mattress over a period of 10 years compared to an all foam bed. Purple Mattress Faq
Price
The Purple Hybrid costs more than the original Purple. It isn’t the best option for people trying to save as much money as possible when buying a new bed. If you’re looking to invest in your night’s sleep, though, it’s very possible you see it as a reasonable price.
The standard Purple Hybrid mattress is available in sizes from twin XL to California king. Prices start at $1,299 and go all the way up to $1,899. You won’t find any discounts on this bed but they may offer free sheets or pillows when you buy.
The Purple Hybrid mattress has metal coils encased in foam to offer support and softness.
