Purple Hybrid Mattress delivers the same Purple feel with a stronger and more supportive construction. Purple Mattress Cover Review
Purple Hybrid mattresses are made by the same company who created Hyper-Elastic polymer and the original Purple mattress. In fact, Purple offers three different hybrid beds, appropriately named the Purple Hybrid , and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 and 4 . Below, I’ll discuss the many reasons why you might want one or the other. And if the price is right for you. Keep reading to discover if the Purple Hybrid mattress is right for YOU.
Purple Hybrid (also known as the Purple 2) is the thinnest option of hybrids and measures only 11 inches thick. It is also more firm than the other models, making it ideal for stomach or back sleepers. It’s also one of the most affordable Purple Hybrid mattresses.
The Purple Hybrid Premier, formerly known as Purple 3, is 12 inches thick with a thicker Hyper-Elastic Polymer comfort layer. This makes it feel slightly softer, and it lands at a medium-firm to medium-firm level on the scale. Purple Mattress Cover Review
The Purple Hybrid Premier 4 is the most expensive of the Purple hybrid beds, but it’s a whopping 13 inches thick and is extra supportive. It is similar to the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 in that it has a medium-firm profile. We think it would be suitable for most body types.

First impressions
Purple Hybrids include purple details throughout the bed. This is a wonderful addition for anyone who loves the color. The cover has premium details that give it a more luxurious look than the Purple flagship mattress. People want to know what the Purple feels like.
It’s quite different than the innerspring mattress in Grandma’s guest room, and I will tell you that. It’s a completely new design for a bed and it ended up working in the company’s favor. Purple Mattress Cover Review
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness/feel
Regardless of the model you get, the Purple Hybrid mattresses are soft and airy without feeling like foam. If you press your finger on the center of the mattress, the squishy pieces will bend and change underneath.
While it’s not obvious when you lay down, it feels like you’re floating on the back of a hammock or on your stomach. However, the thick layer made of pocketed coils makes it extremely supportive.
The Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously feels pressure-relieving and supportive, while maintaining a slightly firmer profile; I think it’s around a medium-firm, or 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. While the soft squares aren’t pushed into your hips or shoulders if you lie sideways, they don’t feel like a typical firm mattress. However, my back and spine feel reinforced by the Hyper Elastic Polymer layer. I like it a bit more firm than the Original Purple.
The Purple Hybrid is a great option if you don’t want to experiment with other bedding styles. You might be happy with the benefits of the Purple Hybrid if you are open-minded to a mattress feeling that reduces pressure on your hips and shoulders while making you feel lighter. Purple Hybrid Premier
The brand’s two highest-level hybrid beds feature the same Purple feel. However, they have a slightly softer profile due to thicker layers made of Hyper-Elastic Pomer.
They are between medium and medium-firm. I would say they’re about 6 on the firmness spectrum. Purple Mattress Cover Review
Purple Hybrid mattress construction
The Purple Hybrid comes in three different models, each with a different thickness of the Purple Grid gel layer.
The Purple Hybrid is four layers thick and around 11 inches tall. Here’s a simple breakdown of the bed’s layers so you get an idea of what makes Purple, Purple:
A thin slab about an inch thick of basic foam that supports the thick pocketed coil layer.
The mattress has a thick system made of 7.5-inch pockets coils. Each coil is individually wrapped in fabric to reduce motion transfer. It is what makes this mattress so comfortable.
To neutralize the feeling of the coils within the foundation of the bed, add a thin 1/2 inch of foam.
2 inches of Hyper-Elastic Pomer from the brand, laid out in grid formation. This is the primary layer that distinguishes it from the other two Purple Hybrid mattresses — each mattress has a different thickness of this layer. It’s bouncy, squishy, soft and provides most of the Purple’s comfort.
Dense foam slabs surround the edges to give the sides a more solid and stable feel.
The Purple’s StretchMax cover is atop, and it is, as the name suggests, extra-stretchy. It feels more breathable and breathable then a standard mattress cover. Purple Mattress Cover Review

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
The Purple Hybrid Premier mattress is the highest-rated option from the brand. The top layers of construction are the only significant differences.
Purple 3 has 3inches of Hyper Elastic Polymer at the top. Purple 4 has 4inches.
It doesn’t make a huge difference in feel, but they are softer than the Purple Hybrid. Purple Mattress Cover Review
Motion isolation
Motion isolation isn’t usually an innerspring bed’s forte, but with the pocketed coils and special material you find in the Purple Hybrid, it’s a different story.
I think it’s pretty good at isolating motion, even if it is a super-bouncy bed.
It is almost silent and your partner will not be able hear you. Purple Mattress Cover Review
Edge support
Purple Hybrid mattresses have firm foam at the edges that will hold you up if your body tends to lean towards the sides of the bed.
This mattress has edge support capabilities that I am happy to give two thumbs up.
Temperature
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. It’s not designed with any fancy cooling material, but instead, the Purple Grid’s natural breathable design makes it one of the best mattresses for allowing airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat as memory foam and poly foam might. This makes it attractive to hot sleepers such as me, who require additional cooling. Although it’s not cold, I don’t feel too hot when I sleep on the Purple. Purple Mattress Cover Review
Purple Hybrid’s best sleeping positions and body types
You wouldn’t be able to wear every shirt in your favorite clothing store. The same goes for mattresses.
Especially since there are so many different options to pick from. Your preference for a particular position and your body type are key factors in choosing the best mattress. Purple Mattress Cover Review
Position
Side, stomach, back, or a combination thereof are the primary sleeping positions. Purple Hybrids will be most suitable for stomach and back sleepers.
If you are a side sleeper, the Purple Hybrid mattress would be a good choice. These mattresses are slightly softer and less pressure-relieving than standard hybrid models, which will benefit your shoulders and sides more. Purple Mattress Cover Review
Type of body
Regardless of your body type, whether you weigh 105 pounds or 250 pounds, I think the Purple Hybrid beds will be perfectly suitable for you.
The Purple Hybrid mattresses are great for all body types because they are more supportive than typical foam beds like Nectar or Casper. The mattress has a layer of steel-pocketed coils in the bottom. Steel is much more durable that foam. Over the next 10 years, you will see a significant difference in how this mattress holds up to time compared with an all-foam mattress. Purple Mattress Cover Review
Prices
The Purple Hybrid bed is more expensive than the original Purple. This is not a good option for those who want to spend as little money as possible on a new mattress. If you’re looking to invest in your night’s sleep, though, it’s very possible you see it as a reasonable price.
Purple Hybrid mattresses can be purchased in sizes from twinXL to California queen. Prices start at $1299 and go up until $1,899. While they do not typically offer discounts on this mattress, they may have a promotional offer that gives you free sheets or pillows.
Purple Hybrid Mattress has metal coils enclosed in foam to offer support, softness, and durability.
