Purple Hybrid Mattress delivers the same Purple feel with a stronger and more supportive construction. Purple Mattress Company
The Purple Hybrid mattress is made by the same company that created Hyper-Elastic Polymer, the original Purple bed and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 and 4. Purple offers three kinds of hybrid beds. The Purple Hybrid, Purple Hybrid Premier 3/3 and Purple Hybrid Premier 4 are the appropriate names. Below I will explain why you might prefer one to the other and how they compare with the rest. Continue reading to learn if a Purple Hybrid is right for your needs.
Purple Hybrid , also known as the Purple 2, is the thinnest of the hybrid options and stands at 11 inches thick. It’s also firmer than the other two models and is ideal for back or stomach sleepers. It’s also the most economical Purple Hybrid mattress.
The Purple Hybrid Premier formerly known under the name Purple 3 measures 12 inches thick. It has a thicker HyperElastic Polymer comfort level. This makes it feel a touch softer and it is around a medium-firm. Purple Mattress Company
Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid Hybrid is the most expensive Purple hybrid bed, but it’s also thicker (13 inches) and offers extra support. It’s similar to the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 and has a medium or medium-firm profile. We believe it would suit any body type.

First impressions
The Purple Hybrid incorporates purple detailing throughout the bed, a great touch for an avid lover of the color. The details in the cover give it a premium look, and you can tell it’s a bit more heavy-duty than the flagship Purple mattress. What does the Purple feel like?
Well, it’s completely different from the innerspring mattress in the guest room at Grandma’s, I’ll tell you that much. This is a novel concept for a bed, and I believe it worked in the company’s favor. Purple Mattress Company
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness, feel and feel
Purple Hybrid mattresses, regardless of which model you buy, are soft and airy. They don’t feel like foam. You can feel the soft, squishy corners of the mattress bend and transform underneath if you place your hand on the middle.
It’s not super noticeable when you’re laying down, it just feels buoyant like you’re floating on your back or laying on a hammock. Though, it’s also really supportive because of the thick layer of pocketed coils, which I’ll explain more below.
The Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously feels supportive and pressure-relieving, but it also has a slightly firmer profile. It’s 7/10 on the firmness scale. While the soft squares aren’t pushed into your hips or shoulders if you lie sideways, they don’t feel like a typical firm mattress. However, my back and spine feel reinforced by the Hyper Elastic Polymer layer. I find it a little firmer than my Original Purple mattress.
If you aren’t open to exploring new ways of bedding but are curious about the Purple Hybrid then you may want to consider other options. The Purple Hybrid might be for you if it offers a mattress feel that is both supportive and light on the hips, shoulders and back. Purple Mattress Company
Purple Hybrid Premier
The brand’s two highest-level hybrid beds feature the same Purple feel. However, they have a slightly softer profile due to thicker layers made of Hyper-Elastic Pomer.
I think they both land in between a medium to medium-firm, or around a 6 on the firmness scale. Purple Mattress Company
Purple Hybrid mattress construction
Purple Hybrids come in three versions, each with a different layer of Purple Grid gel.
The Purple Hybrid has 4 layers and measures around 11 inches high. This is a quick breakdown of the layers of the Purple Hybrid to give you an idea of what makes Purple, Purple.
A thin slab made of basic foam approximately one inch thick that supports the thick layer of pocketed coils above.
To limit motion transfer, the mattress features a thick system of 7.5-inch pocketsed coils that are individually wrapped with fabric. This is the reason this mattress is so supportive.
A thin half an inch of foam to help neutralize the feel of the pocketed coils in the bed’s foundation.
The Hyper-Elastic polymer of the brand is 2 inches thick. It’s laid out in a grid structure. This is the primary layer that distinguishes it from the other two Purple Hybrid mattresses — each mattress has a different thickness of this layer. It is soft, bouncy and provides the majority of the Purple’s comfort.
Surrounding the edges are dense foam slabs to make the sides feel more supportive and sturdy.
Purple’s StretchMax “StretchMax” covers are layered on top. They are, just like their name, extra-stretchy. It’s more breathable than any standard mattress cover. You can compare the feel to a soft cotton top or an athletic antisweat shirt. Purple Mattress Company

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
The brand’s top-tier mattresses are the Purple Hybrid Premier and Purple Hybrid Premier. The only difference in construction is the top layers.
Purple 3 has 3″ of Hyper-Elastic polymer at the top and Purple 4 has 4″.
They are slightly softer than the Purple Hybrid, although it doesn’t make much difference in feel. Purple Mattress Company
Motion isolation
Although motion isolation is not usually an innerspring bed’s strength, the Purple Hybrid’s pocketed coils, special material, and other features make it a unique story.
It’s quite good at isolating movements, even though the bed is super-bouncy.
It virtually makes no noise, and you’ll hardly be able to notice your partner moving around on the other side. Purple Mattress Company
Edge support
Purple Hybrid mattresses include firm foam on the edges. If you are prone to slipping during the night, the Purple Hybrid will keep you more secure.
This mattress has edge support capabilities that I am happy to give two thumbs up.
Temperature
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid doesn’t have any cooling materials, but its natural breathable design makes them one of the best mattresses to allow airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat as memory foam and poly foam might. This makes it attractive to hot sleepers such as me, who require additional cooling. It’s not cold to the touch, but I really don’t feel hot while sleeping on the Purple. Purple Mattress Company
Purple Hybrid’s ideal positions for sleeping and body types
You wouldn’t expect that you would fit into every size shirt at your favorite clothes store.
There are many options. Your preferred position and body type will determine the perfect mattress. Purple Mattress Company
Position
The main sleeping positions are stomach, back, or side. Purple Hybrid is recommended for stomach and back sleepers.
If you are a side sleeper, the Purple Hybrid mattress would be a good choice. These mattresses are softer than the standard hybrid model and will provide more relief for your shoulders and sides. Purple Mattress Company
Type of body
Regardless of your body type, whether you weigh 105 pounds or 250 pounds, I think the Purple Hybrid beds will be perfectly suitable for you.
Purple Hybrid mattresses can be used by all body types as they are more supportive of traditional foam beds like Casper or Nectar. The bottom layer is made of steel coils with pockets. Steel is more durable than foam. The difference in how this mattress will hold up over time compared to an all-foam bed will be especially noticeable over the course of 10 years. Purple Mattress Company
Price
The Purple Hybrid is more costly than the original Purple and may not be the best choice for those looking to spend as low as possible on a bed. It’s possible that you will see the Purple Hybrid as a reasonable cost if you are looking to make an investment in your sleep.
The standard Purple Hybrid mattress is available in sizes from twin XL to California king. Prices start at $1299 and go up to $1899. You won’t find any discounts on this bed but they may offer free sheets or pillows when you buy.
Purple Hybrid mattresses have metal coils that are encased with foam for support and softness.
