From the company that gave you Hyper-Elastic Polymer and the original Purple bed comes the big-and-sturdy Purple Hybrid mattresses. Purple offers three kinds of hybrid beds. The Purple Hybrid, Purple Hybrid Premier 3/3 and Purple Hybrid Premier 4 are the appropriate names. Below, I’ll discuss the many reasons why you might want one or the other. And if the price is right for you. Continue reading to learn if a Purple Hybrid is right for your needs.
Purple Hybrid, also known by the Purple 2, measures 11 inches in thickness. It is also more firm than the other models, making it ideal for stomach or back sleepers. With that said, it’s the most affordable Purple Hybrid mattress.
The Purple Hybrid Premier is 12 inches thick and has a thicker Hyper Elastic Polymer comfort layer. This makes it feel a touch softer and it is around a medium-firm. Purple Mattress Codes
The Purple Hybrid Premier 4 is the most expensive of the Purple hybrid beds, but it’s a whopping 13 inches thick and is extra supportive. It has a medium-firm profile and would be suitable for all body types, just like the Purple Hybrid Premier 3.
Purple Hybrid Mattress Video Review
The Purple Hybrid incorporates purple detailing throughout the bed, a great touch for an avid lover of the color. The cover has premium details that give it a more luxurious look than the Purple flagship mattress. People want to know what the Purple feels like.
It is completely different from Grandma’s innerspring mattress, I’ll be honest. This bed is an entirely new concept that I believe worked well for the company. Purple Mattress Codes
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness/feel
Regardless of the model you get, the Purple Hybrid mattresses are soft and airy without feeling like foam. If you press your finger on the center of the mattress, the squishy pieces will bend and change underneath.
It is not noticeable when you lay down. You just feel like you’re floating over your back or on a hammock. The thick layer pocketsed coils make it really supportive, which I’ll explain below.
Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously relieves pressure and supports, but has a slightly firmer profile. This Purple Hybrid 2 is around a medium-firm or 7 out 10 on my firmness scale. Although the soft squares won’t press into your hips or shoulders when you lie on your back, my spine and back feel reinforced by the Hyper-Elastic Polymer layer. I think it’s a tad bit firmer than the Original Purple mattress.
You might be interested in the Purple Hybrid, but aren’t ready to try out new bedding options. If you are open to the idea of a mattress that relieves pressure from your hips, shoulders, and back, while also making you feel light, this might be a good choice for you. Purple Mattress Codes
Purple Hybrid Premier
Although they share the brand’s signature Purple feel, the two higher-level hybrid beds are slightly different because they contain thicker layers Hyper-Elastic Polymer.
They both fall between medium to medium-firm or about a 6 on my firmness scale. Purple Mattress Codes
Purple Hybrid mattress construction
The Purple Hybrid has four layers and is approximately 11 inches high. Here’s a simple breakdown of the bed’s layers so you get an idea of what makes Purple, Purple:
A thin slab of basic Foam about an inch in thickness, which supports the thick pocketed coil above.
To limit motion transfer, the mattress features a thick system of 7.5-inch pocketsed coils that are individually wrapped with fabric. It’s what makes this mattress so supportive.
A thin half inch of foam to help neutralize any sensations caused by the pockets in the bed’s base.
The Hyper Elastic Polymer brand uses covers that are approximately 2 inches in height. These are laid out in a grid-like pattern. This is the layer that makes it different from the Purple Hybrids. Each mattress has an individual thickness. It is soft, bouncy and provides the majority of the Purple’s comfort.
The dense foam slabs that surround the edges make the sides more sturdy and supportive.
Purple’s StretchMax “StretchMax” covers are layered on top. They are, just like their name, extra-stretchy. It is more breathable that a typical mattress cover. I liken it more to an antisweat sports undergarment rather than a soft top made of cotton. Purple Mattress Codes
Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
Two Purple Hybrid Premier mattresses are the best-selling mattress options. Really, the only major differences in construction are the top layers.
Purple 3 has a layer 3 in. of Hyper-Elastic Polymer at top; Purple 4 has 4 in.
While it doesn’t make a significant difference in feel, they are more soft than the Purple Hybrid. Purple Mattress Codes
Motion isolation is not a common feature of innerspring beds, but the Purple Hybrid offers a different approach with its pocketed coils.
I think it’s pretty good at isolating motion, even if it is a super-bouncy bed.
It makes almost no noise and you won’t be able to see your partner on the other side. Purple Mattress Codes
Purple Hybrid mattresses include firm foam on the edges. If you are prone to slipping during the night, the Purple Hybrid will keep you more secure.
As a result, I give edge support capabilities on this mattress two enthusiastic thumbs up.
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid has a natural breathable structure that allows for airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat as memory foam and poly foam might. This makes it attractive to hot sleepers such as me, who require additional cooling. Purple is not cold but it does not feel hot. Purple Mattress Codes
Purple Hybrid’s perfect sleeping positions and body types
You wouldn’t be able to wear every shirt in your favorite clothing store. The same goes for mattresses.
Because there are so many choices, it is important to choose carefully. Your preference for a particular position and your body type are key factors in choosing the best mattress. Purple Mattress Codes
Side, stomach, back, or a combination thereof are the primary sleeping positions. Purple Hybrid is recommended for stomach and back sleepers.
If you’re a side-sleeper and really want the Purple Hybrid I’d recommend one of the Purple Premier beds. They are a bit softer and more pressure-relieving than the standard hybrid model, which will be more of a benefit to your sides and shoulders. Purple Mattress Codes
Type of body
No matter your body type, no matter if you are 105 lbs or 250 lbs, the Purple Hybrid Beds will suit you perfectly.
Purple Hybrid mattress are great for anyone, as they provide more support than standard foam beds like Casper and Nectar. They have that layer of steel pocketed coils on the bottom, and if you think about it, steel is much more durable than foam. This mattress will last 10 years longer than an all-foam one. The Purple Hybrid bed is more expensive than the original Purple. This is not a good option for those who want to spend as little money as possible on a new mattress. If you’re looking for a way to improve your night’s rest, however, you might consider it a reasonable price.
Purple Hybrid mattresses can be purchased in sizes from twinXL to California queen. Prices start at $1,299 and go all the way up to $1,899. The bed is not usually discounted, but there may be a promotion for free sheets or pillows.
Purple Hybrid mattress features metal coils wrapped in foam to provide support and softness.
