Purple Hybrid mattresses offer the same Purple feel but are more durable and supportive. Purple Mattress Base Review
Purple Hybrid mattresses come from the same company that made Hyper-Elastic Pomer and the original Purple bed. Purple actually offers three hybrid beds: the Purple Hybrid and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 & 4. Below I will discuss the reasons you might choose one over another and whether they are worth the price. Find out if a Purple Hybrid Mattress is right for you.
Purple Hybrid, also known by the Purple 2, measures 11 inches in thickness. It is also more firm than the other models, making it ideal for stomach or back sleepers. It is also the most affordable Purple Hybrid model.
The Purple Hybrid Premier is 12 inches thick and has a thicker Hyper Elastic Polymer comfort layer. This makes it feel a touch softer and it is around a medium-firm. Purple Mattress Base Review
Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid Hybrid beds are the most expensive. However, it’s 13 inches thick and extra supportive. The Purple Hybrid Premier 4 has a medium to firm profile, which we believe would suit most body types.
Purple Hybrid Mattress Video Review
The Purple Hybrid incorporates purple detailing throughout the bed, a great touch for an avid lover of the color. It has a premium appearance thanks to the fine details on the cover. You can also tell that it is a bit heavier than the Purple flagship mattress. People want to know what the Purple feels like.
It’s certainly not the same innerspring mattress that Grandma used in her guest room. It’s a new concept for a bed that I think ended up working in the company’s favor. Purple Mattress Base Review
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness and feel
Purple Hybrid mattresses, regardless of which model you buy, are soft and airy. They don’t feel like foam. If you press your finger on the center of the mattress, the squishy pieces will bend and change underneath.
It is not noticeable when you lay down. You just feel like you’re floating over your back or on a hammock. However, the thick layer made of pocketed coils makes it extremely supportive.
The Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously feels supportive and pressure-relieving, but it also has a slightly firmer profile. It’s 7/10 on the firmness scale. While the soft squares aren’t pushed into your hips or shoulders if you lie sideways, they don’t feel like a typical firm mattress. However, my back and spine feel reinforced by the Hyper Elastic Polymer layer. I think it’s a tad bit firmer than the Original Purple mattress.
If you aren’t open to exploring new ways of bedding but are curious about the Purple Hybrid then you may want to consider other options. The Purple Hybrid might be for you if it offers a mattress feel that is both supportive and light on the hips, shoulders and back. Purple Mattress Base Review
Purple Hybrid Premier
The brand’s two hybrid beds at the top of the range have the same Purple feel. However they are slightly more softened by thicker layers hyper elastic polymer.
They are between medium and medium-firm. I would say they’re about 6 on the firmness spectrum. Purple Mattress Base Review
Construction of Purple Hybrid mattresses
The Purple Hybrid has four layers and is approximately 11 inches high. Let’s take a look at the layers of this bed to get an idea of how Purple and Purple are made.
A thin slab made of basic foam approximately one inch thick that supports the thick layer of pocketed coils above.
A thick system of 7.5-inch pocketed coils, individually wrapped with fabric to help limit motion transfer across the mattress. It is what makes this mattress so comfortable.
A thin half an inch of foam to help neutralize the feel of the pocketed coils in the bed’s foundation.
The brand’s Hyper-Elastic Polymer is approximately 2 inches thick, laid out in a grid pattern. This is the layer that makes it different from the Purple Hybrids. Each mattress has an individual thickness. It provides most of Purple’s comfort.
Surrounding the edges are dense foam slabs to make the sides feel more supportive and sturdy.
Purple’s StretchMax (or Extra-Stretchy) cover can be found on the top. I think it feels more breathable than your typical mattress cover and compare the feel more to an athletic antisweat undergarment than a soft cotton top. Purple Mattress Base Review
Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
The two Purple Hybrid Premier beds are the top-tier mattress options from the brand. Really, the only major differences in construction are the top layers.
Purple 3 has a layer 3 in. of Hyper-Elastic Polymer at top; Purple 4 has 4 in.
They are slightly softer than the Purple Hybrid, although it doesn’t make much difference in feel. Purple Mattress Base Review
Although motion isolation is not usually an innerspring bed’s strength, the Purple Hybrid’s pocketed coils, special material, and other features make it a unique story.
It is quite good at isolating movement, even though it is super-bouncy.
It almost makes no sound, so you’ll barely be able notice your partner’s movements on the other. Purple Mattress Base Review
Purple Hybrid mattresses feature firm foam around the edges. This is to prevent you from slipping on the edges of the mattress.
As a result, I give edge support capabilities on this mattress two enthusiastic thumbs up.
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid doesn’t have any cooling materials, but its natural breathable design makes them one of the best mattresses to allow airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat like memory or poly foam, which makes it more appealing for hot sleepers like myself who need additional cooling. Purple is not cold but it does not feel hot. Purple Mattress Base Review
Purple Hybrid’s best sleeping positions and body types
You wouldn’t expect to fit in every shirt size at your favorite clothing store, and you shouldn’t assume every mattress is accommodating for you.
You have so many options. The best mattress for you will depend on your body type and the position that you prefer to sleep in. Purple Mattress Base Review
The main sleeping positions are stomach, back, or side. I think the Purple Hybrid will work best for back and stomach sleepers.
I would recommend the Purple Premier mattresses to side sleepers who really want the Purple Hybrid. These mattresses are softer than the standard hybrid model and will provide more relief for your shoulders and sides. Purple Mattress Base Review
Type of body
The Purple Hybrid beds are perfect for anyone, regardless of their body type.
Purple Hybrid mattress are great for anyone, as they provide more support than standard foam beds like Casper and Nectar. They have that layer of steel pocketed coils on the bottom, and if you think about it, steel is much more durable than foam. This mattress will last 10 years longer than an all-foam one. Purple Mattress Base Review
The Purple Hybrid costs more than the original Purple. It isn’t the best option for people trying to save as much money as possible when buying a new bed. If you’re looking to invest in your night’s sleep, though, it’s very possible you see it as a reasonable price.
Purple Hybrid mattresses can be purchased in sizes from twinXL to California queen. Prices start at $1,299 and go all the way up to $1,899. While they do not typically offer discounts on this mattress, they may have a promotional offer that gives you free sheets or pillows.
Purple Hybrid mattresses are made with metal coils and foam that provide support and softness.
