The Purple Hybrid mattress delivers the same signature Purple feel, but with a more durable and supportive construction. Purple Mattress Advertisement
Purple Hybrid Mattresses are made by the same company as Hyper-Elastic Polyester and the original Purple Bed. Purple actually offers three hybrid beds: the Purple Hybrid and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 & 4. Below, I’ll discuss the many reasons why you might want one or the other. And if the price is right for you. Stick around to find out if a Purple Hybrid mattress is the right choice for you.
Purple Hybrid, also called the Purple 2, is the thinnest hybrid option and measures in at 11 inches. It’s also firmer than the other two models and is ideal for back or stomach sleepers. It is also the most affordable Purple Hybrid model.
The Purple Hybrid Premier (formerly Purple 3) is 12 inches in thickness with a thicker Hyper elastic Polymer comfort layer. It feels a little softer and is a medium-firm weight. Purple Mattress Advertisement
Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid Hybrid is the most expensive Purple hybrid bed, but it’s also thicker (13 inches) and offers extra support. Like the Purple Hybrid Premier 3, it has a medium to medium-firm profile, and we think it would suit all body types.
Purple Hybrid Mattress Video Review
Purple Hybrids have purple detailing all over the bed. It’s a great choice for someone who is passionate about the color. Its premium appearance is due to the high-quality cover. What does the Purple feel like?
It’s quite different than the innerspring mattress in Grandma’s guest room, and I will tell you that. This is a novel concept for a bed, and I believe it worked in the company’s favor. Purple Mattress Advertisement
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness/feel
Regardless of the model you get, the Purple Hybrid mattresses are soft and airy without feeling like foam. When you run your hand down the center of the mattress, you can feel the squishy squares bend and morph underneath.
It’s not super noticeable when you’re laying down, it just feels buoyant like you’re floating on your back or laying on a hammock. Though, it’s also really supportive because of the thick layer of pocketed coils, which I’ll explain more below.
The Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously feels supportive and pressure-relieving, but it also has a slightly firmer profile. It’s 7/10 on the firmness scale. The soft squares do not press into your hips and shoulders, unlike a traditional firm bed. But my back and spine feel extremely reinforced thanks to the Hyper-Elastic polymer layer. It’s firmer than the Original Purple mattress.
If you’re interested in the Purple Hybrid but don’t have the time or desire to explore other types of bedding, it might be worth looking elsewhere. But if you’re open to a mattress feel that takes pressure off your hips, shoulders and back while simultaneously making you feel weightless, you might be pleased with its benefits. Purple Hybrid Premier
The brand’s two highest-level hybrid beds feature the same Purple feel. However, they have a slightly softer profile due to thicker layers made of Hyper-Elastic Pomer.
I think they both land in between a medium to medium-firm, or around a 6 on the firmness scale. Purple Mattress Advertisement
Purple Hybrid mattress construction
The Purple Hybrid is four layers thick and around 11 inches tall. Below is a breakdown of each layer of the Purple Hybrid bed. This will give you an idea about what makes Purple and Purple.
A thin slab of basic Foam about an inch in thickness, which supports the thick pocketed coil above.
A thick system containing 7.5-inch coils in pockets, each individually wrapped with fabric to prevent motion transfer. It is the foundation of this mattress’s support.
A thin layer of foam about a quarter inch thick to neutralize the effect of the mattress’s foundation.
The Hyper-Elastic polymer of the brand is 2 inches thick. It’s laid out in a grid structure. This is the primary layer that distinguishes it from the other two Purple Hybrid mattresses — each mattress has a different thickness of this layer. It is soft, bouncy and provides the majority of the Purple’s comfort.
The dense foam slabs that surround the edges make the sides more sturdy and supportive.
On top is the Purple’s “StretchMax” cover, and just like the name implies, it’s extra-stretchy. It feels more breathable and breathable then a standard mattress cover. Purple Mattress Advertisement
Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
Purple Hybrid Premier is the brand’s highest-end mattress option. Only the top layers make up the main difference in construction.
Purple 3 has 3″ of Hyper-Elastic polymer at the top and Purple 4 has 4″.
It doesn’t make a huge difference in feel, but they are softer than the Purple Hybrid. Purple Mattress Advertisement
Motion isolation isn’t something innerspring beds are good at. But with the Purple Hybrid’s pocketsed coils as well as the special material inside, it’s an entirely different story.
It seems to be quite capable of isolating motion, even though it is very bouncy.
It is almost silent and your partner will not be able hear you. Purple Mattress Advertisement
Purple Hybrid mattress are made with firm foam around edges to keep your body upright if you find yourself slipping towards the side of bed at night.
Therefore, I give this mattress my enthusiastic thumbs-up for its edge support capabilities.
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid is not made with any cooling material. Instead, its natural, breathable design makes it one the best mattresses for allowing airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat like memory foam or poly foam might, making it appealing to hot sleepers like me who need the additional cooling relief. Purple isn’t cold to the touch but I don’t feel hot sleeping on it. Purple Mattress Advertisement
Purple Hybrids’ ideal sleeping positions & body types
You wouldn’t expect every size shirt to fit at your local clothing store.
You have so many options. Your preferred position and body type will determine the perfect mattress. Purple Mattress Advertisement
There are three main sleeping positions: side, stomach or back. Purple Hybrid is recommended for stomach and back sleepers.
If you’re a side-sleeper and really want the Purple Hybrid I’d recommend one of the Purple Premier beds. These mattresses are slightly softer and less pressure-relieving than standard hybrid models, which will benefit your shoulders and sides more. Purple Mattress Advertisement
Type of body
No matter your body type, no matter if you are 105 lbs or 250 lbs, the Purple Hybrid Beds will suit you perfectly.
Purple Hybrid mattresses work well for everyone because they offer more support than traditional foam beds such as Casper or Nectar. They are made with steel pocketed coils that sit on top of the mattress. This makes them more durable than traditional foam beds. This mattress will last 10 years longer than an all-foam one.
