Purple Hybrid Mattress Review – Our Purple Mattress Hybrid Review 2021

Purple Hybrid mattresses have the same Purple feel, but with a more sturdy and supportive construction. Purple Hybrid Mattress Review

The Purple Hybrid mattress is made by the same company that created Hyper-Elastic Polymer, the original Purple bed and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 and 4. Purple actually offers three hybrid beds: the Purple Hybrid and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 & 4. Below, I will explore the various reasons you may choose one over the others and whether the cost is worth it. Find out if a Purple Hybrid Mattress is right for you.

Purple Hybrid (also known as the Purple 2) is the thinnest option of hybrids and measures only 11 inches thick. It’s firmer than the other models and is suitable for stomach and back sleepers. It is also the most affordable Purple Hybrid model.

The Purple Hybrid Premier is 12 inches thick and has a thicker Hyper Elastic Polymer comfort layer. This makes it feel a touch softer and it is around a medium-firm. Purple Hybrid Mattress Review

Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid hybrid bed is the most expensive, but it is 13 inches thicker and more supportive than the others. It has a medium-firm profile and would be suitable for all body types, just like the Purple Hybrid Premier 3.

First impressions

The Purple Hybrid incorporates purple detailing throughout the bed, a great touch for an avid lover of the color. The cover has premium details that give it a more luxurious look than the Purple flagship mattress. What does the Purple feel like?

It’s quite different than the innerspring mattress in Grandma’s guest room, and I will tell you that. This bed is an entirely new concept that I believe worked well for the company. Purple Hybrid Mattress Review

Purple Hybrid mattress firmness/feel

Purple Hybrid mattresses, regardless of which model you buy, are soft and airy. They don’t feel like foam. You can feel the soft, squishy corners of the mattress bend and transform underneath if you place your hand on the middle.

It isn’t noticeable when you lie down. Instead, you feel buoyant and like you are floating on your back or in a hammock. However, the thick layer made of pocketed coils makes it extremely supportive.

Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously provides pressure relief and support, while also maintaining a firmer profile. I believe it to be around a medium firm, or 7 on the firmness scale. The soft squares don’t push into your hips and shoulders when you’re on your side like your typical firm bed, but my back and spine feel very reinforced above the bed’s Hyper-Elastic Polymer layer. I think it’s a tad bit firmer than the Original Purple mattress.

You might be interested in the Purple Hybrid, but aren’t ready to try out new bedding options. But if you’re open to a mattress feel that takes pressure off your hips, shoulders and back while simultaneously making you feel weightless, you might be pleased with its benefits. Purple Hybrid Premier

The brand’s two hybrid beds at the top of the range have the same Purple feel. However they are slightly more softened by thicker layers hyper elastic polymer.

I think they both land in between a medium to medium-firm, or around a 6 on the firmness scale. Purple Hybrid Mattress Review

Construction of Purple Hybrid mattresses

Purple Hybrid Mattress ReviewThe Purple Hybrid comes in three different models, each with a different thickness of the Purple Grid gel layer.

The Purple Hybrid measures approximately 11 inches high and has four layers. This is a quick breakdown of the layers of the Purple Hybrid to give you an idea of what makes Purple, Purple.

A thin slab made of basic foam approximately one inch thick that supports the thick layer of pocketed coils above.

The mattress has a thick system made of 7.5-inch pockets coils. Each coil is individually wrapped in fabric to reduce motion transfer. This is the reason this mattress is so supportive.

To neutralize the feeling of the coils within the foundation of the bed, add a thin 1/2 inch of foam.

The Hyper Elastic Polymer brand uses covers that are approximately 2 inches in height. These are laid out in a grid-like pattern. This is the primary layer that distinguishes it from the other two Purple Hybrid mattresses — each mattress has a different thickness of this layer. It provides most of Purple’s comfort.

To give the sides more support and stability, dense foam slabs are placed around the edges.

The Purple’s StretchMax cover is atop, and it is, as the name suggests, extra-stretchy. I think it feels more breathable than your typical mattress cover and compare the feel more to an athletic antisweat undergarment than a soft cotton top. Purple Hybrid Mattress Review

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers

The two Purple Hybrid Premier beds are the top-tier mattress options from the brand. Only the top layers make up the main difference in construction.

Purple 3 has a layer of Hyper elastic Polymer at its top that measures 3 inches, while Purple 4 has 4 inches.

While it doesn’t make a significant difference in feel, they are more soft than the Purple Hybrid. Purple Hybrid Mattress Review

Motion isolation

Motion isolation isn’t something innerspring beds are good at. But with the Purple Hybrid’s pocketsed coils as well as the special material inside, it’s an entirely different story.

It seems to be quite capable of isolating motion, even though it is very bouncy.

It almost makes no sound, so you’ll barely be able notice your partner’s movements on the other. Purple Hybrid Mattress Review

Edge support

The Purple Hybrid mattresses are constructed with firm foam around the edges to hold your body up more firmly if you tend to creep towards the side of the bed during the night.

Therefore, I give this mattress my enthusiastic thumbs-up for its edge support capabilities.

Temperature

The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid doesn’t have any cooling materials, but its natural breathable design makes them one of the best mattresses to allow airflow.

It doesn’t retain heat like memory foam or poly foam might, making it appealing to hot sleepers like me who need the additional cooling relief. Purple is not cold but it does not feel hot. Purple Hybrid Mattress Review

Purple Hybrids’ ideal sleeping positions & body types

You wouldn’t be able to wear every shirt in your favorite clothing store. The same goes for mattresses.

You have so many options. Your preferred position and body type will determine the perfect mattress. Purple Hybrid Mattress Review

Position

The primary sleeping positions are side, stomach, back or a combination of them all. Purple Hybrids will be most suitable for stomach and back sleepers.

If you’re a side-sleeper and really want the Purple Hybrid I’d recommend one of the Purple Premier beds. They are a bit softer and more pressure-relieving than the standard hybrid model, which will be more of a benefit to your sides and shoulders. Purple Hybrid Mattress Review

Body type

No matter what your body size, no matter how heavy or light, the Purple Hybrid bed will work for you.

Purple Hybrid mattresses work well for everyone because they offer more support than traditional foam beds such as Casper or Nectar. They are made with steel pocketed coils that sit on top of the mattress. This makes them more durable than traditional foam beds. It will be noticeable how the mattress will perform over the years compared with an all foam mattress. Purple Hybrid Mattress Review

Price

The Purple Hybrid is more costly than the original Purple and may not be the best choice for those looking to spend as low as possible on a bed. If you’re looking to invest in your night’s sleep, though, it’s very possible you see it as a reasonable price.

Purple Hybrid mattresses are available in sizes ranging from twin XL to California King. The prices start at $1,299, and can go up to $1,899. You won’t find any discounts on this bed but they may offer free sheets or pillows when you buy.

Purple Hybrid mattresses have metal coils that are encased with foam for support and softness.
