Purple Hybrid mattress firmness & Feel
Purple Hybrid mattresses, regardless of which model you buy, are soft and airy. They don’t feel like foam. The purple squares can be felt under your fingertips if you move your hand along the mattress’s center.
While it’s not obvious when you lay down, it feels like you’re floating on the back of a hammock or on your stomach. The thick layer pocketsed coils make it really supportive, which I’ll explain below.
Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously relieves pressure and supports, but has a slightly firmer profile. This Purple Hybrid 2 is around a medium-firm or 7 out 10 on my firmness scale. Although the soft squares won’t press into your hips or shoulders when you lie on your back, my spine and back feel reinforced by the Hyper-Elastic Polymer layer. Purple Hybrid comes as three different models. Each model has a different thickness Purple Grid gel layer.
The Purple Hybrid has four layers and is approximately 11 inches high. Here’s a simple breakdown of the bed’s layers so you get an idea of what makes Purple, Purple:
A thin slab about an inch thick of basic foam that supports the thick pocketed coil layer.
The mattress is made up of thick pockets of coils measuring 7.5 inches in diameter, each wrapped in fabric to limit movement transfer. It is what makes this mattress so comfortable.
To neutralize the feeling of the coils within the foundation of the bed, add a thin 1/2 inch of foam.
The Hyper Elastic Polymer brand uses covers that are approximately 2 inches in height. These are laid out in a grid-like pattern. This is the primary layer that distinguishes it from the other two Purple Hybrid mattresses — each mattress has a different thickness of this layer. It’s bouncy, squishy, soft and provides most of the Purple’s comfort.
The dense foam slabs that surround the edges make the sides more sturdy and supportive.

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
The Purple Hybrid Premier mattress is the highest-rated option from the brand. Only the top layers make up the main difference in construction.
The Purple 3 has a 3-inch layer of Hyper-Elastic Polymer at the top, while Purple 4 has 4 inches.

Motion isolation
Motion isolation isn’t usually an innerspring bed’s forte, but with the pocketed coils and special material you find in the Purple Hybrid, it’s a different story.
It seems to be quite capable of isolating motion, even though it is very bouncy.

Temperature
