Purple Hybrid mattresses offer the same Purple feel but are more durable and supportive. Mattress Purple Review
From the company that gave you Hyper-Elastic Polymer and the original Purple bed comes the big-and-sturdy Purple Hybrid mattresses. Purple actually offers three hybrid beds: the Purple Hybrid and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 & 4. Below, I’ll dive into the different reasons why you may want one over the other, and if they’re worth their price in general. Continue reading to learn if a Purple Hybrid is right for your needs.
Purple Hybrid, also called the Purple 2, is the thinnest hybrid option and measures in at 11 inches. It is also firmer and more suitable for stomach, back, or stomach sleepers than the two other models. It’s also the most economical Purple Hybrid mattress.
The Purple Hybrid Premier formerly known under the name Purple 3 measures 12 inches thick. It has a thicker HyperElastic Polymer comfort level. It feels a little softer and is a medium-firm weight. Mattress Purple Review
Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid hybrid bed is the most expensive, but it is 13 inches thicker and more supportive than the others. Like the Purple Hybrid Premier 3, it has a medium to medium-firm profile, and we think it would suit all body types.
Purple Hybrid Mattress Video Review
Purple Hybrids have purple detailing all over the bed. It’s a great choice for someone who is passionate about the color. The cover has premium details that give it a more luxurious look than the Purple flagship mattress. The most important thing people want to learn about this mattress is how it feels.
It’s totally different from the innerspring mattress in Grandma’s guest room. It’s a new concept for a bed that I think ended up working in the company’s favor. Mattress Purple Review
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness/feel
No matter which model you choose, Purple Hybrid mattresses feel soft and airy but not like foam. If you press your finger on the center of the mattress, the squishy pieces will bend and change underneath.
It is not noticeable when you lay down. You just feel like you’re floating over your back or on a hammock. Though, it’s also really supportive because of the thick layer of pocketed coils, which I’ll explain more below.
Purple Hybrid 2 feels simultaneously supportive and pressure-relieving. However, it has a slightly firmer profile. The soft squares don’t push into your hips and shoulders when you’re on your side like your typical firm bed, but my back and spine feel very reinforced above the bed’s Hyper-Elastic Polymer layer. I like it a bit more firm than the Original Purple.
If you aren’t open to exploring new ways of bedding but are curious about the Purple Hybrid then you may want to consider other options. But if you’re open to a mattress feel that takes pressure off your hips, shoulders and back while simultaneously making you feel weightless, you might be pleased with its benefits. Purple Hybrid Premier
The brand’s two hybrid beds at the top of the range have the same Purple feel. However they are slightly more softened by thicker layers hyper elastic polymer.
They are between medium and medium-firm. I would say they’re about 6 on the firmness spectrum. Mattress Purple Review
Purple Hybrid Mattress Construction
The Purple Hybrid has 4 layers and measures around 11 inches high. Below is a breakdown of each layer of the Purple Hybrid bed. This will give you an idea about what makes Purple and Purple.
A thin slab made of basic foam approximately one inch thick that supports the thick layer of pocketed coils above.
A thick system containing 7.5-inch coils in pockets, each individually wrapped with fabric to prevent motion transfer. It’s what makes this mattress so supportive.
To neutralize the feeling of the coils within the foundation of the bed, add a thin 1/2 inch of foam.
The Hyper Elastic Polymer brand uses covers that are approximately 2 inches in height. These are laid out in a grid-like pattern. This is the main layer which distinguishes it the Purple Hybrid mattresses. Every mattress has a different thickness. It’s soft, bouncy, and provides most Purple Hybrid’s comfort.
The dense foam slabs that surround the edges make the sides more sturdy and supportive.
Purple’s StretchMax “StretchMax” covers are layered on top. They are, just like their name, extra-stretchy. I think it feels more breathable than your typical mattress cover and compare the feel more to an athletic antisweat undergarment than a soft cotton top. Mattress Purple Review
Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
Purple Hybrid Premier is the brand’s highest-end mattress option. Only the top layers make up the main difference in construction.
Purple 3 has 3″ of Hyper-Elastic polymer at the top and Purple 4 has 4″.
While it doesn’t make a significant difference in feel, they are more soft than the Purple Hybrid. Mattress Purple Review
Although motion isolation is not usually an innerspring bed’s strength, the Purple Hybrid’s pocketed coils, special material, and other features make it a unique story.
It’s quite good at isolating movements, even though the bed is super-bouncy.
It is almost silent and your partner will not be able hear you. Mattress Purple Review
The Purple Hybrid mattresses are constructed with firm foam around the edges to hold your body up more firmly if you tend to creep towards the side of the bed during the night.
This is why I give the edge support capabilities of this mattress two thumbs up.
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid is not made with any cooling material. Instead, its natural, breathable design makes it one the best mattresses for allowing airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat in the same way as memory foam or Poly foam. This makes Purple a great choice for hot sleepers who need extra cooling. Although it’s not cold, I don’t feel too hot when I sleep on the Purple. Mattress Purple Review
Purple Hybrid’s ideal sleeping positions and body types
You wouldn’t expect every size shirt to fit at your local clothing store.
This is especially true since there are so numerous options. Your preferred position and body type will determine the perfect mattress. Mattress Purple Review
You can sleep in one of three primary positions: stomach, side, back or any combination. I think the Purple Hybrid will work best for back and stomach sleepers.
I would recommend the Purple Premier mattresses to side sleepers who really want the Purple Hybrid. They are slightly more comfortable and relieve pressure than the standard hybrid mattress, which will be a plus for your shoulders. Mattress Purple Review
Type of body
The Purple Hybrid beds can be used regardless of body weight, so no matter what size you are, they will fit you perfectly.
Purple Hybrid mattresses work well for everyone because they offer more support than traditional foam beds such as Casper or Nectar. The bottom layer is made of steel coils with pockets. Steel is more durable than foam. You will notice a difference in the durability of this mattress over a period of 10 years compared to an all foam bed. Mattress Purple Review
The Purple Hybrid is more costly than the original Purple and may not be the best choice for those looking to spend as low as possible on a bed. If you’re looking to invest in your night’s sleep, though, it’s very possible you see it as a reasonable price.
Purple Hybrid mattresses are available from twin XL up to California king. Prices start at $1299 and go up to $1899. You won’t find any discounts on this bed but they may offer free sheets or pillows when you buy.
Purple Hybrid Mattress has metal coils enclosed in foam to offer support, softness, and durability.
