First impressions

Purple Hybrid mattresses, regardless of which model you buy, are soft and airy. They don’t feel like foam. If you press your finger on the center of the mattress, the squishy pieces will bend and change underneath.
It’s barely noticeable when you lie down. It just feels buoyant, like you’re floating in your hammock or on top of your head. However, the thick layer made of pocketed coils makes it extremely supportive.
The Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously feels pressure-relieving and supportive, while maintaining a slightly firmer profile; I think it’s around a medium-firm, or 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The soft squares don’t push into your hips and shoulders when you’re on your side like your typical firm bed, but my back and spine feel very reinforced above the bed’s Hyper-Elastic Polymer layer. I like it a bit more firm than the Original Purple.

Purple Hybrid comes as three different models. Each model has a different thickness Purple Grid gel layer.
The Purple Hybrid’s four layers are approximately 11 inches in height and has four layers. Below is a breakdown of each layer of the Purple Hybrid bed. This will give you an idea about what makes Purple and Purple.
A thin slab of basic foam about an inch thick, which supports the thick pocketed coil layer above.
To limit motion transfer, the mattress features a thick system of 7.5-inch pocketsed coils that are individually wrapped with fabric. This is the reason this mattress is so supportive.
A thin half an inch of foam to help neutralize the feel of the pocketed coils in the bed’s foundation.
Around 2 inches of the brand’s special Hyper-Elastic Polymer, laid out in a grid formation. This is the primary layer that distinguishes it from the other two Purple Hybrid mattresses — each mattress has a different thickness of this layer. It is soft, bouncy and provides the majority of the Purple’s comfort.
To give the sides more support and stability, dense foam slabs are placed around the edges.

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
The two Purple Hybrid Premier beds are the top-tier mattress options from the brand. The only difference in construction is the top layers.
Purple 3 has a layer of Hyper elastic Polymer at its top that measures 3 inches, while Purple 4 has 4 inches.

Motion isolation
Although motion isolation is not usually an innerspring bed’s strength, the Purple Hybrid’s pocketed coils, special material, and other features make it a unique story.
I think it’s pretty good at isolating motion, even if it is a super-bouncy bed.

Edge support
Purple Hybrid mattresses have firm foam at the edges that will hold you up if your body tends to lean towards the sides of the bed.

The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid doesn’t have any cooling materials, but its natural breathable design makes them one of the best mattresses to allow airflow.
