How To Unpack Purple Mattress – Our Purple Mattress Hybrid Review 2021

The Purple Hybrid mattress delivers the same signature Purple feel, but with a more durable and supportive construction. How To Unpack Purple Mattress

Purple Hybrid mattresses come from the same company that made Hyper-Elastic Pomer and the original Purple bed. Purple actually has three types of hybrid beds. They are appropriately named the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 or 4 and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 or 4. Below I will discuss the reasons you might choose one over another and whether they are worth the price. Keep reading to discover if the Purple Hybrid mattress is right for YOU.

Purple Hybrid , also known as the Purple 2, is the thinnest of the hybrid options and stands at 11 inches thick. It is firmer than any of the other models, and it is great for stomach or back sleepers. It is also the most affordable Purple Hybrid model.

The Purple Hybrid Premier, also known as Purple 3 is 12 in thick and features a thicker Hyperelastic Polymer comfort coating. It feels a little softer and is a medium-firm weight. How To Unpack Purple Mattress

Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid Hybrid is the most expensive Purple hybrid bed, but it’s also thicker (13 inches) and offers extra support. The Purple Hybrid Premier 4 has a medium to firm profile, which we believe would suit most body types.

First impressions

Purple Hybrids have purple detailing all over the bed. It’s a great choice for someone who is passionate about the color. The details in the cover give it a premium look, and you can tell it’s a bit more heavy-duty than the flagship Purple mattress. What does the Purple mattress feel like?

It’s quite different than the innerspring mattress in Grandma’s guest room, and I will tell you that. It’s a new concept for a bed that I think ended up working in the company’s favor. How To Unpack Purple Mattress

Purple Hybrid mattress firmness/feel

No matter which model you choose, Purple Hybrid mattresses feel soft and airy but not like foam. When you run your hand down the center of the mattress, you can feel the squishy squares bend and morph underneath.

It is not noticeable when you lay down. You just feel like you’re floating over your back or on a hammock. Though, it’s also really supportive because of the thick layer of pocketed coils, which I’ll explain more below.

Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously relieves pressure and supports, but has a slightly firmer profile. This Purple Hybrid 2 is around a medium-firm or 7 out 10 on my firmness scale. The soft squares of the Purple Hybrid 2 don’t push against your hips and shoulders like a regular firm bed. However, I feel my back and spine are reinforced by Hyper-ElasticPolymer. I feel it is a touch firmer that the Original Purple.

You might be interested in the Purple Hybrid, but aren’t ready to try out new bedding options. You might be happy with the benefits of the Purple Hybrid if you are open-minded to a mattress feeling that reduces pressure on your hips and shoulders while making you feel lighter. Purple Hybrid Premier

Although they share the brand’s signature Purple feel, the two higher-level hybrid beds are slightly different because they contain thicker layers Hyper-Elastic Polymer.

I believe they are both medium-firms, or approximately a 6, on the firmness scale. How To Unpack Purple Mattress

Purple Hybrid Mattress Construction

How To Unpack Purple MattressThe Purple Hybrid comes in three different models, each with a different thickness of the Purple Grid gel layer.

The Purple Hybrid has four layers and is approximately 11 inches high. Let’s take a look at the layers of this bed to get an idea of how Purple and Purple are made.

A thin slab about an inch thick of basic foam that supports the thick pocketed coil layer.

To limit motion transfer, the mattress features a thick system of 7.5-inch pocketsed coils that are individually wrapped with fabric. It’s what makes this mattress so supportive.

A thin half inch of foam to help neutralize any sensations caused by the pockets in the bed’s base.

The Hyper Elastic Polymer brand uses covers that are approximately 2 inches in height. These are laid out in a grid-like pattern. This is the main layer that differentiates it from the Purple Hybrid mattress. Each mattress has a different thickness. It’s bouncy, squishy, soft and provides most of the Purple’s comfort.

To give the sides more support and stability, dense foam slabs are placed around the edges.

Purple’s StretchMax Cover is on the top. It’s very stretchy, just as its name suggests. It is more breathable that a typical mattress cover. I liken it more to an antisweat sports undergarment rather than a soft top made of cotton. How To Unpack Purple Mattress

Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers

The brand’s top-tier mattresses are the Purple Hybrid Premier and Purple Hybrid Premier. Really, the only major differences in construction are the top layers.

Purple 3 has a layer 3 in. of Hyper-Elastic Polymer at top; Purple 4 has 4 in.

While it doesn’t make a significant difference in feel, they are more soft than the Purple Hybrid. How To Unpack Purple Mattress

Motion isolation

Motion isolation is not a common feature of innerspring beds, but the Purple Hybrid offers a different approach with its pocketed coils.

It seems to be quite capable of isolating motion, even though it is very bouncy.

It makes almost no noise and you won’t be able to see your partner on the other side. How To Unpack Purple Mattress

Edge support

The Purple Hybrid mattresses are constructed with firm foam around the edges to hold your body up more firmly if you tend to creep towards the side of the bed during the night.

As a result, I give edge support capabilities on this mattress two enthusiastic thumbs up.

Temperature

The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid does not have any fancy cooling materials. Its natural, breathable design means that it is one of the best mattresses available for allowing airflow.

It doesn’t retain heat as memory foam and poly foam might. This makes it attractive to hot sleepers such as me, who require additional cooling. Although it’s not cold, I don’t feel too hot when I sleep on the Purple. How To Unpack Purple Mattress

Purple Hybrid’s perfect sleeping positions and body types

You wouldn’t be able to wear every shirt in your favorite clothing store. The same goes for mattresses.

Because there are so many choices, it is important to choose carefully. The best mattress for you will depend on your body type and the position that you prefer to sleep in. How To Unpack Purple Mattress

Position

There are three main sleeping positions: side, stomach or back. I think the Purple Hybrid will work best for back and stomach sleepers.

The Purple Premier mattress is the best option for side sleepers. They are slightly more comfortable and relieve pressure than the standard hybrid mattress, which will be a plus for your shoulders. How To Unpack Purple Mattress

Type of body

Regardless of your body type, whether you weigh 105 pounds or 250 pounds, I think the Purple Hybrid beds will be perfectly suitable for you.

Purple Hybrid beds are better for all types of bodies than regular foam beds like Casper, Nectar and Casper. The mattress has a layer of steel-pocketed coils in the bottom. Steel is much more durable that foam. You will notice a difference in the durability of this mattress over a period of 10 years compared to an all foam bed. How To Unpack Purple Mattress

Price

The Purple Hybrid costs more than the original Purple. It isn’t the best option for people trying to save as much money as possible when buying a new bed. If you’re looking for a way to improve your night’s rest, however, you might consider it a reasonable price.

Purple Hybrid mattresses are available from twin XL up to California king. Prices start at $1,299 and go all the way up to $1,899. They don’t usually run discounts for this bed, but they may have a promotion going for free sheets or pillows with your purchase.

The Purple Hybrid mattress has metal coils encased in foam to offer support and softness.
