Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

It’s likely that stiffness is already mentioned throughout this article. That’s because one of the most crucial elements to consider when buying for a new mattress is the firmness (and how firmness affects the comfort). These elements will reveal the mattress’s suitability for your chosen sleep position (s). Let’s review of the comfort and firmness that comes with the Helix mattress collection.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses come in a wide range of options, with the softest being moderately soft and the most firm ones being moderately firm. Its Helix Sunset is on the softer end of the range We gave it a hardness rating at 5.5 out of 10 in the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 is the industry standard for medium firmness.) Helix Dusk is next. Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10 which means that it’s softer than normal. It’s softer than the Helix Midnight as well as the Helix Dusk are between the spectrum. Both of these mattresses scored approximately a 7/10, which is slightly firmer than normal. They are Helix Twilight as well as the Helix Dawn are on the harder end of the spectrum, with each receiving the 7.5/10 assessment (firmer than average).

It’s crucial to be aware that the degree of firmness is a personal preference. If you’re looking for firmness, you may rate these mattresses differently depending on your body weight and personal preferences. For instance, heavier people might find them more firm as they can push further into the mattress to reach the support layers. On the other hand, people who weigh less discover that these mattresses are more supple due to their position within the comfortable layer each bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on the Helix mattress for a long time to get an accurate picture of what it’s like lie on the models in different positions. Have a look at the results!

Helix Sunset Mattress

How To Cool Down My Helix MattressDue to its softness, because of its softness, Helix Sunset wasn’t supportive enough for back sleeping. The hips of ours sink a little too deep into the mattress, causing the spine to be misaligned.

Although the Helix Sunset’s gentleness isn’t the best for back sleepers It’s perfect for side sleepers. We were very comfortable in this position because the mattress’s softness helped cushion any tension points in the shoulder and hip. In fact, it’s one of the best mattresses for hip pain we’ve seen.

The Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping because to its softness. Our hips sank too deeply into the mattress, pulling the back out of position, exactly like they did when we were sleeping back to back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightAs a back sleeper while sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not outstanding. If you’re planning to sleep in this position for the duration of the through the night, you’ll want a firmer mattress with more support and assists in maintaining appropriate spinal alignment.

It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping on the side because of its comfort. We didn’t feel any unwelcome pressure on the shoulder or hip.

It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not sufficient for stomach sleep. Our hips sank too deeply in the mattress leading the spine to be out of alignment.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhile resting in the Helix Midnight and feeling fantastic, we were able to feel great. We enjoyed a touch of pressure relief without sacrificing spine alignment due to the mattress’s good blend of comfort and support. It’s the best mattress for back sleepers that we have reviewed on this list.

Although the Helix Midnight mattress is firmer that it’s counterparts, the Helix Sunset and Moonlight We found it pleasant to sleep on our sides on this mattress. It is a good pressure-relief mattress between the hip and shoulder in our opinion.

While stomach sleeping on the Helix Midnight, we were good , but not fantastic. If you sleep in this position all night should look for a firmer mattress that provides greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskIt’s the Helix Dusk is more supportive than other models that we’ve tested. This could explain why we felt good while resting upon our backs. We’re certain that we’ll enjoy good spinal alignment throughout the night due to the mattress’s supportive nature.

It’s probably not surprising to find that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for side sleeping considering that we’ve moved to the more firm end on the scale. We felt some pressure around the shoulder and hip, which would definitely cause significant discomfort if you were to sleep in this position for the entire night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers who weigh around average since it can help in maintaining a proper spine alignment. However, stomach sleepers who are heavier might not get enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the greatest bed for back discomfort. It’s ideal for back sleepers who require additional support owing to weight gain, back pain, or other factors. The firmer structure of this mattress helps in keeping the hips lifted and in alignment to the spinal column.

Since the Helix Twilight is slightly firmer than other mattresses It was difficult to lay on our backs on the mattress. We felt as if we were being suffocated by the hips and shoulders.

Most stomach sleepers should find the Helix Twilight mattress to be an ideal one, as the mattress’s firmness should offer enough support to the spine in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who prefer a firm mattress will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s high level of support. However, those who prefer some pressure relief when resting on their backs may likely find this mattress too firm.

It’s the Helix Dawn is far too hard for side sleeping, and you’ll end up with a lot of pressure points in your hip and shoulder. A softer model is much better for those who sleep on their sides.

The Helix Dawn Mattress is one of the best mattress designed for stomach sleepers, in our opinions. Throughout the night, this firm and supportive mattress helps keep the hips elevated and in alignment with the spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses are all hybrid structure that has foam layers over coils. Despite these similarities however, each model has its own distinctive character.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a well-balanced foam feel. The soft comfort layer allows sleepers to sink in and provides the mattress with a slow-moving feel.

It is worth noting that the Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy feeling, particularly when compared to the Sunset one, which is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight, like Helix Sunset, like Helix Sunset, has a balanced feel and a slower-moving upper layer. The Midnight is a bit more firm than the Sunset and allows sleepers to sink deeper into the top layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is due to the use dynamic foam in the top layer as well as coils in the support layer.

It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, has a more sluggish top. It’s still a sturdy mattress with the comfort layer being slightly more cushiony.

The Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a bouncy, firm feel to it because to the use of dynamic foam (in the cushion layer) as well as coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

The Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support with pressure reduction) or Helix Dusk (which combines pressure reduction and spinal support) or Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by average-weight back sleepers (which provides a more firmer spine support).

The Helix Midnight (if your preference is a slightly harder sensation) or the more comfortable and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight and Sunset are more likely for side sleepers of average weight.

Finally, stomach sleepers of moderate weight should consider the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

The Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for back sleepers who weigh a lot because it eases pressure while maintaining the alignment of the spine.

The softest models in the Helix range, like the Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset will provide enough pressure relief for heavy-weight side sleepers.

Heavyweight stomach sleepers however are likely to move to the Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection) for the best spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There ought to be a range of options for light back sleepers. For instance, the Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all provide plenty of spinal support and different levels of pressure relief to accommodate various sleeping styles.

In the same way, side sleepers who are light can choose from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset and should give adequate pressure relief with the ability to alter the hardness level to their preferences.

Finally stomach sleepers will appreciate the Helix Twilight, or Dawn as the most supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

In terms of construction, all of the Helix mattresses are built in the same way: They have the same cover and the foam comfort layers are laid over individually wrapped supports for coils.

The majority of Helix mattresses, including they have a SoftTouch Design cover that is soft, elastic, and breathable. This design allows air to flow freely across the top of the mattress. In addition, every Helix model is equipped with an additional layer of support made of coils individually wrapped and stacked on top of a base foam with a high density which gives the mattress its overall structure and stability.

The similarities end there for the most part. The foam layers that provide comfort differ in their density, stiffness, placement, and types of foam. There are additional materials available on some versions. Let’s take a closer look!.

Helix Sunset

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is comprised of pressure-reducing Memory Plus Foam, which provides the slow-moving, comfortable feel of memory foam that it is known for. The transition layer is made comprised of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s a bit firmer, bouncier, and more supporting, sits under the Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Sunset’s top layer of comfort is comprised of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s main comfort layer and transition layer is made of Helix’s Dynamic Foam. This is another latex-foam option with multiple layers of this foam give it a bouncy feel when compared with Helix Sunset. Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the main comfort layer in the Helix Midnight, and it provides pressure reduction and body shaping. A transition layer of dense, high-grade polyfoam sits underneath that Memory Plus Foam. The layer is extremely responsive, implying that the mattress overall responds more quickly to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The Helix Dusk’s primary comfort layer is made up of Helix Dynamic Foam, a foam substitute made of latex that is bouncy and receptive. It’s a layer of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam layer. (Think about the Dusk’s structure as similar to the one in that of the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam has been laid on top of Memory Plus Foam to create a bouncy, responsive surface, while Memory Plus Foam provides pressure relief as sleepers sink into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

Helix Twilight, like the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above a dense, high-grade polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. Its Memory Plus Foam adds some ease of use, but don’t be fooled: this is a mattress that is firm with very little give.

Helix Dawn

Not to be left out, the Helix Dawn has the Helix Dynamic Foam comfort layer that is layered over a dense, high-grade polyfoam layer transition layer. This combination produces an extremely firm, bouncey, and responsive sleep surface with very little bounce.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We tested our Helix mattresses to a set of tests to find out their performance in key areas including the regulation of temperature as well as motion transfer, edge support and other areas. Continue reading to find out how they fared!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Are you sleeping hot or cold? If you’re worried about the possibility of overheating, think about purchasing a LUXE version of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

As we have seen in our tests certain models are better than other models when it comes to minimising disturbances to your mattress’s top. It was found that the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight have the highest level of motion-seclusion. That’s because they have a memory foam that is slower moving near the top of all of these models, which does great job at absorption of motion. These are the most comfortable mattresses for couples available on the market.

Edge Support

Every Helix mattress provided good edge support across all models. While sitting and sleeping near the edges of every model, we felt comfortable and safe.

Durability

All of the Helix mattresses are made from high-density foams and robust coils which ensure that they can last for a long period of period of.

Off-Gassing

There was the off-gassing of the six Helix mattresses in the beginning. This will go away within a couple of days, or perhaps sooner.

Noise

There was no noticeable noise when we moved around on one of these mattresses at the time we wrote our test. Since all of them have coils, it’s likely that they’ll begin to squeak over time.

Sex

When looking for a sex mattress, most individuals are concerned about how easy it will be to move places on their bed. Since all Helix mattresses have coils, they should be responsive enough that you can move around easily on each. The models with memory foam in the top layer (particularly, Helix Sunset, Midnight and Twilight) Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) might make changing your position a bit more difficult due to their slow motion.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year mattress guarantee are provided in each Helix mattress.
