Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You may have noticed that stiffness was already discussed within this list. It’s because one of most important aspects to think about when shopping for a new mattress is the firmness (and the way that firmness impacts comfort). These factors will tell you the mattress’s suitableness for your bed location (s). Let’s take a closer look at the quality and firmness in the Helix mattress range.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses are available in a range of different hardness choices, with the softer being moderately soft and the firmest being fairly firm. Helix Sunset Helix Sunset is on the lower end of the scale We have given it a rating that was 5.5 out of 10 in the firmness scale. (A 6.5/10 is considered to be an industry standard for moderate firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a 6/10 that means it’s more soft than the norm. The Helix Midnight and Helix Dusk are between the spectrum. Both of these mattresses have a score of 7/10, which is slightly firmer than normal. They are Helix Twilight, as well as Helix Dawn are on the harder end of the spectrum, both receiving an 7.5/10 assessment (firmer than average).

It’s important to keep in mind that the level of hardness is a matter of personal preference. In terms of the firmness of the mattress, you can assess these mattresses differently based on your body weight and personal preferences. Heavier persons, for example could find the mattresses more firm as they can push further into the mattress and reach into the support layers. Meanwhile, lighter people may be surprised to find these mattresses more supple due to their position on the comfort level of every bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on the Helix beds for an long time to get an idea of what it’s like rest on each model in various positions. Take a peek at what we found!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Ultra Cool Mattress Pad ReviewsDue to its softness, due to its softness, the Helix Sunset wasn’t supportive enough for back sleeping. Our hips sank a little too far into the mattress, causing the spine to shift.

While the Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for those who sleep on their backs but it’s great for those who prefer to sleep sideways. We were really relaxed in this position as the mattress’s softness helped cushion any tension points in the shoulder and hip. It’s actually one of the most comfortable mattresses for hip pain that we’ve come across.

It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleep due to its softness. Our hips sank too deeply into the mattress and pulled the spinal column out of its alignment, exactly as they did when we were sleeping back to back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhen reclining in a back position, it was apparent that the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not outstanding. If you’re planning to sleep in this position for the entire through the night, you’ll require a mattress that offers extra support and aids in maintaining the proper alignment of your spine.

It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent choice for side sleeping due to its softness. There was no unwelcome pressure around the hip or shoulder.

It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not sufficient for stomach sleep. Our hips sank too deeply in the mattress causing the spine to misalign.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureAs we slept in the Helix Midnight, we felt fantastic. We enjoyed a touch of pressure relief, but without losing spinal alignment , thanks to the mattress’s great balance of support and comfort. It’s the most comfortable mattress for back sleepers that we have reviewed on this list.

Despite the fact that the Helix Midnight mattress is firmer in comparison to Helix Sunset and Moonlight, it is still a good mattress. Helix Sunset or Moonlight, we found it pleasant to sleep on our backs on this mattress. It provides adequate pressure alleviation on the hip and shoulder according to our experience.

When we slept with our stomachs on the Helix Midnight, we felt good but not great. If you sleep in this way all night should look for a firmer mattress that provides more spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than other models we’ve tried, which could be the reason we felt so at ease while sleeping in our backs. We’re confident that we’ll have an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night thanks to the mattress’s suppleness.

It’s likely not a surprise that the Helix Dusk feels a little too soft for sleeping on your side since we’ve shifted to the firmer side on the scale. We noticed some pressure on the hip and shoulder that could cause significant discomfort if you slept in this position for the entire night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers with a normal weight, as it should assist in maintaining a proper spine alignment. However, stomach sleepers with heavier weights may not find sufficient support.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the best mattress for back discomfort. It’s ideal for back sleepers who require more support due to weight gain, back pain, or other reasons. The firmer structure of this mattress helps in keeping the hips lifted and in alignment to the spinal column.

Since this mattress Helix Twilight is more firm than the average mattress It was difficult to sleep on our sides on this mattress. We felt as if we were being suffocated by the hips and shoulders.

The majority of stomach sleepers will find the Helix Twilight to be a good fit, since the mattress’s hardness will provide enough of spinal support in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who prefer an extra firm mattress will love the Helix Dawn’s superior level of support. However, those who like some pressure relief when resting on their backs might find the mattress too firm.

It’s the Helix Dawn is far too hard for side sleeping and you’ll be left with a lot of pressure points in your hips and shoulders. A softer model will be considerably better for sleepers who prefer side sleeping.

The Helix Dawn mattress is considered to be the most comfortable mattresses for stomach-sleepers, in our opinions. In the evening the firm and supportive mattress will keep your hips up and in alignment with the spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses all have a hybrid design that incorporates foam over coils. Despite these commonalities however, each Helix mattress has its own distinct individuality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top with a balanced foam feel. The comfort layer’s plushness encourages sleepers to sink in and provides the mattress with an elongated feel.

It is worth noting that the Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, gives a bouncy sensation, especially when contrasted to the Sunset one, which is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight, like it’s predecessor, the Helix Sunset, has a smooth, even texture and slow-moving top layer. The Midnight is a bit more firm than the Sunset which allows sleepers to sink deeper in the upper layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is due to the use active foam in the top layer and coils in the layer supporting it.

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, has a more sluggish top. It’s still a sturdy mattress, with the comfort layer being slightly more comfortable.

The Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a bouncy, firm feel to it because of the use of dynamic foam (in the layer of comfort) and coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

It is the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support with pressure reduction) as well as Helix Dusk (which combines pressure reduction and spinal support) or Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by average-weight back sleepers (which gives a firmer spinal support).

Sleeping on the Helix Late at Night (if you prefer a slightly more spongy feeling) or the more comfortable and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight (or Sunset) is the most likely option for side sleepers of average weight.

Finally, stomach sleepers of moderate weight should consider the supportive Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

The Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for those who are heavy-weight back sleepers because it eases pressure and maintains the alignment of the spine.

The most comfortable models within the Helix range, like the Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset, should provide sufficient of pressure relief for heavier side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are heavy however are likely to move towards Helix Dawn. Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection) for the best spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a variety of types available for lightweight back sleepers. For instance, the Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all offer plenty of support for the spine and various degrees of pressure relief to accommodate different sleeping styles.

In the same way, side sleepers who are light can choose from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset, which should all give adequate pressure relief with the ability to alter the level of hardness according to their needs.

Finally stomach sleepers will appreciate Helix Twilight or Dawn to be the most supportive. Helix Twilight, or Dawn for the best supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

Regarding construction and construction methods, the majority Helix mattresses are constructed in the same way. Helix mattresses are constructed the same way. They all have the same cover and the foam comfort layers are layered above individually wrapped coil support layers.

All Helix mattresses, and in particular they have a SoftTouch Design cover that is elastic, soft, and breathable. This allows air to circulate freely through the top of the mattress. In addition, every Helix model has an extra layer of support that is made of individually wrapped coils stacked over a high-density base foam which gives the mattress the overall shape and strength.

The similarities end there for the most part. The cushions’ comfort layers differ in the thickness, stiffness, arrangement and kinds of foam. Additional materials are also offered on certain versions. Let’s examine it more carefully!.

Helix Sunset

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made of pressure-reducing Memory Plus Foam, which gives you the slow-moving feeling that memory foam is famous for. A transition layer composed comprised of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s larger, more bouncier, and more supportive, is placed beneath that Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made from Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s primary comfort layer and the transition layer are made from the Helix Dynamic Foam. It is a different latex-foam alternative, and the multiple layers of this dynamic foam give it a bouncy feel when compared with Helix Sunset. Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the principal comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it helps reduce pressure and body shaping. A transition layer of dense high-quality polyfoam is placed beneath that Memory Plus Foam. This layer is quite flexible, meaning that the mattress overall reacts faster to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The main comfort layer is constructed from Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s bouncy and receptive. The layer is made of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam layer. (Think of Dusk’s construction as similar to that in Helix Sunset’s construction. Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam has been laid over Memory Plus Foam to create a bouncy and responsive surface. Memory Plus Foam offers pressure relief as sleepers sink deeper into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above the dense, high-quality polyfoam transition layer. The Memory Plus Foam adds some comfort, but don’t be taken in by the appearance: this is a mattress that is firm with very only a little bounce.

Helix Dawn

Last but not least The Helix Dawn has an Helix dynamic foam comfort layer, which is sandwiched over a dense, high-grade polyfoam layer transition layer. The result is a soft, bouncy and supple sleep surface that has very minimal give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We put our Helix mattresses to a set of tests to see how well they performed in key areas like temperature control as well as edge support, motion transfer and much more. Keep reading to find out what they did!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Are you sleeping hot or cold? If you’re concerned about your mattress being too hot, you might want to consider buying a LUXE model of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

According to our tests certain models are better than other models when it comes to minimizing disturbances over your mattress’s top. The Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight have the highest level of motion-isolating. That’s because they have a memory foam that is slower moving near the top of each of these models, which do great job at absorption of motion. These are among the most comfortable mattresses for couples available on the market.

Edge Support

Every Helix mattress offered excellent edge support throughout the range. When we sat and slept on the edges of each model, we felt comfortable and safe.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are made from strong coils and high-density foams, ensuring that they will last for a long period of period of.

Off-Gassing

We did notice some off-gassing from the six Helix mattresses initially. It will disappear within a couple of days in the event that it is not earlier.

Noise

There was no noticeable noise when we moved around on one of these mattresses at the time we wrote our review. But, since all of them have coils, it’s likely that they’ll begin to make noise over time.

Sex

When searching for a sex mattress, a majority of people are concerned about how easy it will be to move positions on the mattress. Since all Helix mattresses have coils, they must be sufficient to allow you to move easily across all of them. The models that feature memory foam in the upper layer (particularly, Helix Sunset, Midnight and Twilight) Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) could make changing your position a bit more difficult due to their slower motion.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night trial of sleep and 10 years of mattress warranty are provided in each Helix mattress.
