Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

It’s likely that stiffness is already mentioned within this list. It’s because one of most important factors to take into consideration when shopping for a new mattress is firmness (and the way that firmness impacts comfort). These aspects will reveal the mattress’s suitability for your chosen sleeping position (s). Let’s review of the comfort and firmness that comes with the Helix mattress series.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses are available in a range of different hardness options, with the most soft being moderately soft and the firmest being fairly firm. Its Helix Sunset is on the lower end of the scale We gave it a hardness rating of 5.5 /10 on the firmness scale. (A 6.5/10 is considered to be an industry standard for medium firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a 6/10 that means it’s softer than normal. The Helix Midnight as well as the Helix Dusk sit somewhere between the spectrum. Both of these mattresses received a rating of around 7/10, which is a bit heavier than average. The Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn are at the more difficult side of the spectrum, each receiving an 7.5/10 rating (firmer than the average).

It’s important to be aware that the level of hardness is a matter of individual preference. If you’re looking for the firmness of the mattress, you can evaluate these mattresses in different ways based on your weight and preferences. Heavier persons, for example could find the mattresses more firm as they can push further into the mattress to reach the support layers. Meanwhile, lighter people may discover that these mattresses are more supple due to their position in the comfort layer of each bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on Helix mattresses for a long time to get an accurate picture of the experience it’s like to lie on the models in different positions. Take a peek at what we discovered!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Sunset Mattress ReviewsDue to its softness the Helix Sunset didn’t feel nearly supportive enough for back sleeping. Our hips were a bit too deeply into the mattress, which caused the spine to become misaligned.

The Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for back sleepers It’s perfect for those who sleep on their sides. We were really at ease in this position due to the soft mattress cushioned possible tension points in the shoulder and hip. In fact, it’s one of the most comfortable mattresses to relieve hip discomfort that we’ve come across.

It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping because of its softness. Our hips were too deep into the mattress, pulling the spine out of alignment just like they did when we were asleep back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhen reclining in a back position, back sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not extraordinary. If you plan on sleeping in this position all night, you’ll almost certainly need a more firm mattress with additional support and helps maintain an appropriate spine alignment.

It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent choice for side sleeping because of its comfort. We didn’t feel any unwelcome tension around the hips or shoulders.

The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping. Our hips sank too deeply in the mattress leading the spine to misalign.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhile resting upon the Helix Midnight We felt amazing. We enjoyed a touch of pressure alleviation without sacrificing spinal alignment , thanks to the mattress’s good combination of support and comfort. It’s the best mattress for back sleepers on this list.

Even though the Helix Midnight mattress is firmer than Helix Sunset and Moonlight, it is still a good mattress. Helix Sunset as well as Moonlight, we were able to rest comfortably on our sides on the mattress. It is a good pressure-relief mattress on the hip and shoulder in our opinion.

While stomach sleeping on the Helix Midnight, we were good but not great. If you sleep in this posture all night long should look for a firmer mattress that provides greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than the other models we’ve tested, which may explain why we felt so good while resting on our backs. We’re sure that we’ll be able to maintain good spinal alignment throughout the night due to the mattress’s supportive qualities.

It’s probably not surprising it is that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for side sleeping since we’ve shifted to the firmer side in the range. There was some discomfort around the shoulder and hip, which would definitely cause discomfort if you slept in this position for the entire night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers with a normal weight, as it should assist to maintain a healthy spinal alignment. However, stomach sleepers who are heavier may not receive enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the ideal bed for back pain. It is ideal for those who require extra support due to weight gain, back pain, or other reasons. The firmer construction of this mattress helps in keeping the hips lifted and aligned to the spinal column.

Because this mattress Helix Twilight is slightly firmer than other mattresses It was difficult to lie on our backs on the mattress. We felt like we were suffocated on the shoulders and hips.

Most stomach sleepers should find the Helix Twilight to be an ideal choice, as the mattress’ hardness should offer enough support to the spine in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who favor a firm mattress will appreciate the high degree of support. But, those who want an occasional relief from pressure while lying on their backs could find this mattress to be too firm.

It’s the Helix Dawn is far too hard to be used for sleeping on your side and you’ll end up with a lot of pressure points on your shoulder and hip. The Helix Dawn that is soft will be considerably better for sleepers who prefer side sleeping.

The Helix Dawn Mattress is one of the greatest mattress designed for stomach sleepers, in our view. In the evening, this firm and supportive mattress keeps the hips raised and aligned with the spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses are all hybrid design that incorporates foam over coils. Despite these commonalities, each model has its own distinctive personality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top with a balanced foam feel. The plush comfort layer encourages sleepers to sink in and creates the feeling of a slow-moving.

It is worth noting that the Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, offers a lively sensation, especially when contrasted with the Sunset that is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight is, just like it’s predecessor, the Helix Sunset, offers an even feel and smooth top layer that moves slowly. The Midnight is a bit more firm than the Sunset and allows sleepers to sink more deeply in the upper layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is due to the use high-performance foam in the top layer and coils in the supporting layer.

It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, has a more sluggish top. It’s still a solid mattress with the comfort layer being slightly more cushiony.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a bouncy, firm feel to it due to the use of dynamic foam (in the layer of comfort) along with coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

It is the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support and pressure reduction) or the Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by back sleepers (which gives a firmer spinal support).

Sleeping on the Helix Midnight (if want a more firm feeling) or the soft and more pressure-reducing Helix Moonlight and Sunset are more likely for people who are average-weight side sleepers.

Finally, stomach sleepers of moderate weight should prefer the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

The Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for heavyweight back sleepers, as it relieves pressure while maintaining spinal alignment.

The most comfortable models within the Helix range, such as Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset are likely to provide adequate pressure relief for heavyweight side sleepers.

For stomach sleepers with heavy weights On the other hand, will most likely go toward Helix Dawn. Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) for proper spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a wide range of types available for lightweight back sleepers. The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all have lots of spinal support as well as different degrees of pressure relief that can accommodate different styles of sleeping.

Similar to the side sleepers that are lightweight, you can choose from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset and should offer adequate pressure relief, with the ability to alter the level of hardness to suit their requirements.

Finally stomach sleepers will discover Helix Twilight or Dawn to be the most supportive. Helix Twilight, or Dawn as the most comfortable.

Helix Mattresses Construction

Regarding construction and construction methods, the majority of the Helix mattresses are built in the same way. They have the same cover and foam comfort layers are placed over individual the coils to support them.

All Helix mattresses, and in particular they have A SoftTouch Design cover that is elastic, soft, and breathable. This allows air to circulate freely throughout the top of the mattress. Additionally, every Helix model is equipped with an additional layer of support made of coils individually wrapped and stacked over a high-density base foam which gives the mattress its overall structure and stability.

The similarities end there for the most part. The comfort layers of these mattresses differ in their size, stiffness, layout and kinds of foam. Additional materials are also available on some versions. Let’s take a look at it more closely!.

Helix Sunset

Its cushion of comfort is comprised of pressure-reducing Memory Plus Foam, which gives you the slow-moving feeling which memory foam has become known for. The transition layer is made of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s a bit firmer, bouncier, and more supportive, is placed underneath that Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made from Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s comfort layer and transition layer is made of the Helix Dynamic Foam. This is yet another latex-foam choice with multiple layers of this foam provide a lively feel when compared with Helix Sunset. Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the main comfort layer in the Helix Midnight, and it helps reduce pressure and body shaping. A transition layer of dense high-quality polyfoam is placed under the Memory Plus Foam. This layer is very flexible, meaning that the mattress in general reacts faster to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The Dusk’s main comfort layer is made up out of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s soft and receptive. A layer comprised of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam layer. (Think about the Dusk’s structure as similar to the one in Helix Sunset’s construction. Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam is laid on top of Memory Plus Foam to create a lively and responsive surface. Memory Plus Foam helps relieve pressure when sleepers lie down on the mattress.

Helix Twilight

It’s the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above a dense, high-grade polyfoam transition layer. This Memory Plus Foam adds some ease of use, but don’t be deceived by this being a firm mattress with less give.

Helix Dawn

Not to be left out The Helix Dawn has the Helix Dynamic Foam comfort layer, which is sandwiched over a dense, high-grade polyfoam transition layer. The result is a soft, bouncy and supple sleep surface that has very little bounce.

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Are you sleeping hot or cold? If you’re worried about overheating, consider purchasing a LUXE model of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

Based on our testing, some models outperform other models when it comes to minimizing disturbances over the surface of the mattress. The Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight offered the most effective motion isolation. That’s because they have a memory foam that is slower moving close to the top of each of these models, which does well at absorption of motion. These are some of the most comfortable mattresses for couples on the market.

Edge Support

Each Helix mattress offered excellent edge support throughout the range. When we sat and slept near the edges of every mattress, we felt secure.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are constructed with high-density foams as well as sturdy coils, ensuring that they will endure a long period of.

Off-Gassing

We noticed some off-gassing from all six Helix mattresses at first. The issue will be gone within a couple of days, or perhaps sooner.

Noise

There was no noticeable sound when moving around on the mattresses during the time we wrote our test. But, since all of them have coils, it’s probable that they’ll begin to make noise as time passes.

Sex

When searching for a sex mattress, a majority of people are concerned about how simple it will be to shift positions on the mattress. Because all of the Helix mattresses feature coils, they are flexible enough to allow you to move around easily on all of them. The models that feature memory foam in the upper layer (particularly, Helix Sunset, Midnight and Twilight) Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) might make changing your position a bit harder due to their slow movement.
