Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You may have noticed that stiffness is already mentioned within this list. That’s because one of the most crucial elements to consider when buying for a new mattress is firmness (and the way that firmness impacts comfort). These aspects will reveal the bed’s suitableness for your bed position (s). Let’s take a closer look at the quality and firmness in the Helix mattress series.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses are available in a wide range of options, with the most soft being moderately soft, and the most firm ones being moderately firm. The Helix Sunset is on the soft side of the spectrum; we have given it a rating at 5.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. (A 6.5/10 is considered to be an standard industry norm for moderate firmness.) Helix Dusk is next. Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a 6/10, which means it’s still less firm than average. Helix Dusk and the Helix Midnight, as well as Helix Dusk sit somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Both mattresses received a rating of around 7/10, which is a bit firmer than normal. They are Helix Twilight, as well as Helix Dawn are on the firmer side of the spectrum, both receiving the 7.5/10 rating (firmer than average).

It’s crucial to keep in mind that the level of hardness is a matter of individual preference. In terms of the firmness of the mattress, you can assess these mattresses differently based on your weight and preferences. People who are heavier, for instance might find them more firm as they can push further into the mattress to get to the support layers. Meanwhile, lighter people may find that these mattresses are softer since they are higher within the comfortable layer every bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on the Helix beds for an long time to get an idea of what it’s like sleep on each model in various positions. Take a peek at what we discovered!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Sleep Mattress MoldBecause of its softness, because of its softness, Helix Sunset didn’t feel nearly sufficient for back sleepers. The hips of ours sink a little too deeply down into our mattress which caused the spine to become misaligned.

While the Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for back sleepers, it’s ideal for those who prefer to sleep sideways. We were very relaxed in this position as the mattress’s softness helped cushion any stress points around the shoulder and hip. It’s actually one of the greatest mattresses for hip discomfort that we’ve come across.

It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach-sleeping due it is soft. Our hips fell too far into the mattress, pulling the spinal column out of its alignment, exactly the way they did when were back sleeping.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhen reclining while sleeping, it was apparent that the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not extraordinary. If you plan on sleeping in this position for the duration of the through the night, you’ll want a firmer mattress that provides additional support and helps maintain an appropriate spine alignment.

The Helix Moonlight is an excellent choice for side sleeping due to its softness. We didn’t feel any uncomfortable pressure around the hip or shoulder.

The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, isn’t sufficient for stomach sleep. Our hips sank too deeply to the bed, causing the spine to shift.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureAs we slept on the Helix Midnight, we felt fantastic. We experienced a bit of pressure alleviation without sacrificing spinal alignment thanks to the mattress’s great combination of support and comfort. It is the greatest mattress for those who sleep on their backs on this list.

Although the Helix Midnight mattress is firmer than Helix Sunset and Moonlight, it is still a good mattress. Helix Sunset and Moonlight and Moonlight, we discovered it to be comfortable to sleep on our backs on this mattress. It is a good pressure-relief mattress around the shoulder and hip, in our opinion.

While stomach sleeping on the Helix Midnight, we felt well, but not super. If you sleep in this way throughout the night should consider an extra firm mattress that offers greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskIt’s the Helix Dusk is more supportive than the other models we’ve tested, which may explain why we felt so good while resting on our backs. We’re sure that we’ll be able to maintain an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night thanks to the mattress’s supportive nature.

It’s not surprising that the Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for side sleeping given that we’ve moved into the firmer end on the scale. There was some discomfort around the hip and shoulder, which would definitely cause significant discomfort if you slept in this position for a long time.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers with a normal weight because it will help in maintaining a proper spinal alignment. However, stomach sleepers who are heavier may not find sufficient support.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the best mattress for back discomfort. It is ideal for those who require extra support due to weight gain back pain, other reasons. The more firm construction of this mattress assists in keeping the hips lifted and aligned with the spine.

Because the Helix Twilight is on the firmer side We found it hard to lay on our backs on this mattress. We felt as if we were being suffocated by the shoulders and hips.

For most stomach sleepers, the Helix Twilight mattress to be an ideal fit, since the mattress’s firmness should give enough spinal support for this type of position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who like mattresses that are firm will appreciate the high degree of support. However, those who prefer some pressure relief when resting on their backs could find this mattress too firm.

It’s the Helix Dawn is far too hard to be used for sleeping on your side, and you’ll end up with lots of pressure points on your hip and shoulder. A softer model is much better for those who sleep on their sides.

It is the Helix Dawn mattress is considered to be the best mattress for stomach sleepers, in our view. In the evening this supportive and firm mattress will keep your hips up and aligned with the spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses all have a hybrid composition with foam layered over coils. However, despite these similarities however, each model has its own distinctive character.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a well-balanced foam feel. The comfort layer’s plushness encourages sleepers to relax and creates a slow-moving feel.

It is worth noting that the Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, gives a bouncy feeling, particularly when compared with the Sunset, which is less sensitive.

The Helix Midnight is, just like it’s predecessor, the Helix Sunset, is a smooth, even texture and smooth top layer that moves slowly. The Midnight is firmer than the Sunset and allows sleepers to sink a little deeper in the upper layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is due to the use of active foam on the upper layer and coils in the supporting layer.

It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, features a slower-moving top. This is still a firm mattress even though the comfort layer is slightly more cushiony.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a bouncy, firm feel to it due to the use of foam that is dynamic (in the comfort layer) as well as coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

Helix Midnight (which is a combination of pressure reduction and spinal support) or the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support with pressure reduction) as well as Helix Dusk (which combines pressure reduction and spinal support) or Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by average-weight back sleepers (which gives a firmer spinal support).

Sleeping on the Helix Late at Night (if your preference is a more firm feeling) or the softer and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight or Sunset is the most likely option for average-weight side sleepers.

Finally, stomach sleepers of moderate weight should consider the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for those who are heavy-weight back sleepers, as it relieves pressure and maintains the alignment of the spine.

The most soft models of the Helix range, such as Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset will provide enough pressure relief for heavy-weight side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are heavy, on the other hand, will most likely go toward Helix Dawn. Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection) for the best spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a variety of options for light back sleepers: The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all offer plenty of spinal support as well as different levels of pressure relief to accommodate various sleeping styles.

Similarly, lightweight side sleepers can pick from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset that should all provide adequate pressure relief and allow users to adjust the level of hardness according to their preferences.

Finally, stomach sleepers will find that the Helix Twilight, or Dawn to be the most comfortable.

Helix Mattresses Construction

Regarding construction and construction methods, the majority the Helix mattresses are constructed the same way: They all have the same cover, and the same foam comfort layers are layered above individual wrapped supports for coils.

The majority of Helix mattresses, including they have A SoftTouch Design cover that is soft, elastic, and air-tight. The design lets air circulate freely throughout the mattress’s top. Additionally, every Helix model has an additional layer of support made of coils individually wrapped and stacked over a dense base foam which provides the mattress with it’s overall design and stability.

The similarities end there for the most part. The foam layers that provide comfort vary in density, stiffness, placement and the types of foam. There are additional materials offered on certain versions. Let’s have a take a closer look!.

Helix Sunset

The comfort layer of the Helix Sunset is made up of pressure-reducing Memory Plus Foam, which offers the slower-moving feel that memory foam is renowned for. A transition layer composed of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s larger, more bouncier, and more supportive, is placed under that Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Sunset’s top comfort layer is composed of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s main comfort layer and transition layer are made of the Helix Dynamic Foam. This is another latex-foam option with multiple layers of this dynamic foam give it a bouncy feeling when compared to Helix Sunset. Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the primary comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it provides pressure reduction and body shaping. A layer of transitional high-quality polyfoam lies underneath the Memory Plus Foam. This layer is very responsive, which means that the mattress overall responds to pressure more quickly.

Helix Dusk

The Dusk’s main comfort layer is made up of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s soft and receptive. The layer is made of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think about the Dusk’s construction as similar to the one of Helix Sunset’s construction. Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam can be laid over Memory Plus Foam to create a lively and responsive surface. Memory Plus Foam provides pressure relief when sleepers lie down on the mattress.

Helix Twilight

It’s the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above the dense, high-quality polyfoam transition layer. The Memory Plus Foam adds some ease of use, but don’t be deceived by this being an extremely firm mattress that has very less give.

Helix Dawn

Last but not least last but not least, the Helix Dawn features the Helix Dynamic Foam comfort layer that is layered over a thick, high-quality polyfoam layer transition layer. This creates an extremely firm, bouncey, and comfortable sleep surface with very minimal give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We put the Helix mattresses through a set of tests to find out the performance of these mattresses in key areas like temperature regulation as well as motion transfer, edge support, and other areas. Read on to learn how they fared!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Sleeping Hot or Cold If you’re worried about your mattress being too hot, you might want to consider buying a LUXE version of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

According to our tests certain models are better than others when it comes to keeping out any disturbances that might occur on the surface of the mattress. The Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight have the highest level of motion isolation. This is due there is a slower-moving memory foam close to the top of each of these models, which do well at blocking motion. These are the most comfortable mattresses for couples that are available on the market.

Edge Support

Each Helix mattress offered an excellent edge support throughout the range. While sitting and sleeping on the edges of each model, we felt comfortable and safe.

Durability

All of the Helix mattresses are manufactured with strong coils and high-density foams to ensure they’ll last for a long period of period of.

Off-Gassing

We did notice some off-gassing from the six Helix mattresses at first. It will disappear within a couple of days if not sooner.

Noise

We didn’t notice any noticeable noise when we moved around on the mattresses during the time we wrote our test. Since all of them have coils, it’s possible that they’ll begin to make noise as time passes.

Sex

When searching for a sex mattress, most people are concerned about how simple it will be to shift positions on the mattress. Because all of the Helix mattresses feature coils, they should be responsive enough that you can move around easily on any of them. The models with memory foam in their top layers (particularly, those that have memory foam in the top layer (such as Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) may make changing your position a bit more difficult due to their slow movement.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night trial period of sleep as well as 10 years of mattress warranty come in every Helix mattress.
