Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

It’s likely that stiffness is already mentioned in this roundup. It’s because one of most important aspects to think about when purchasing a new mattress is firmness (and the way that firmness impacts the comfort). These factors will tell you the mattress’s ability to accommodate your preferred bed position (s). Let’s have a review of the quality and firmness that comes with the Helix mattress range.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses come in a wide range of options, with the most soft being moderately soft and the firmest being fairly firm. Its Helix Sunset is on the lower end of the scale We gave it a hardness rating that was 5.5 /10 on the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 would be the standard industry norm for moderate firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10, which means it’s still less firm than average. It’s softer than the Helix Midnight as well as the Helix Dusk sit somewhere between the spectrum. Both mattresses received a rating of around 7/10 which is slightly heavier than average. They are Helix Twilight as well as the Helix Dawn are at the more difficult side of the spectrum, with both receiving a 7.5/10 score (firmer than average).

It is important to keep in mind that the level of hardness is a matter of personal preference. When it comes to the firmness of the mattress, you can evaluate these mattresses in different ways based on your weight and preferences. For instance, heavier people could find the mattresses more firm because they are able to press deeper into the mattress and get to the support layers. However, those who are lighter may be surprised to find these mattresses less firm due to the fact that they are located higher in the comfort layer of every bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on the Helix mattresses for a long period of time in order to gain an idea of what it’s like lie on the models in different positions. Take a peek at the results!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Serter MattressDue to its softness the Helix Sunset was not comfortable enough to be a good back sleeper. Our hips were a bit too deep down into our mattress causing the spine to shift.

The Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for back sleepers It’s perfect for side sleepers. We were really comfortable in this position because the soft mattress cushioned possible stress points around the shoulder and hip. It’s actually one of the most comfortable mattresses for hip discomfort that we’ve found.

The Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleep due it is soft. Our hips fell too far into the mattress, pulling the spinal column out of its alignment, exactly the way they did when were asleep back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhile back sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not extraordinary. If you’re planning to sleep in this position all night, you’ll almost certainly need a more firm mattress with more support and assists in maintaining an appropriate spine alignment.

It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping sideways because of its comfort. There was no unwelcome pressure around the shoulder or hip.

It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, isn’t adequate for stomach-sleeping. Our hips fell too deeply to the bed, causing the spine to be out of alignment.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureAs we slept upon the Helix Midnight and feeling fantastic, we were able to feel great. We enjoyed a touch of pressure relief, but without losing spinal alignment , thanks to the mattress’s great blend of comfort and support. It’s the best mattress for those who sleep on their backs on this list.

Even though the Helix Midnight is firmer in comparison to it’s counterparts, the Helix Sunset or Moonlight and Moonlight, we discovered it to be comfortable to sleep on our backs on the mattress. It is a good pressure-relief mattress between the hip and shoulder, in our opinion.

When we slept with our stomachs on the Helix Midnight, we felt well, but not super. People who sleep in this posture all night long should look for a firmer mattress that provides more spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskIt’s the Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses we’ve tried, which could explain why we felt so at ease while sleeping in our backs. We’re confident that we’ll have an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night thanks to the mattress’s supportive nature.

It’s probably not surprising it is that Helix Dusk feels a little too soft for sleeping on your side considering that we’ve moved to the more firm end of the spectrum. We felt some pressure around the hip and shoulder area that would create a lot of discomfort if you were to sleep in this position all night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers of average weight because it will help them maintain appropriate spinal alignment. However, stomach sleepers who are heavier might not get enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the best mattress for back discomfort. It is ideal for those who require more support due to weight gain, back pain, or other reasons. The firmer construction of this mattress helps in keeping the hips lifted and in alignment in alignment with spine.

Because this mattress Helix Twilight is on the firmer side It was difficult to sleep on our sides on the mattress. We felt suffocated in the hips and shoulders.

Most stomach sleepers should find the Helix Twilight to be a great one, as the mattress’ hardness should provide enough of spinal support for this type of position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who favor a firm mattress will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s high level of support. However, those who prefer some pressure relief when lying back may likely find this mattress too firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too difficult to sleep on side and you’ll be left having a lot of pressure points in your shoulder and hip. One of the softer types is much better for side sleepers.

It is the Helix Dawn is the most comfortable mattress for stomach sleepers in our opinion. Through the night the firm and supportive mattress will keep your hips up and in alignment with the spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses all have a hybrid design that incorporates foam over coils. Despite these similarities, each model has its own distinct personality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a well-balanced foam feel. The comfort layer’s plushness encourages sleepers to relax and gives the mattress the feeling of a slow-moving.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy sensation, particularly when compared with the Sunset that is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight, like Helix Sunset, like Helix Sunset, offers an even feel and slower-moving upper layer. The Midnight is firmer than the Sunset, allowing sleepers to sink more deeply in the upper layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncey. This is due to the use dynamic foam on the upper layer, and coils in the layer supporting it.

It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, is characterized by a slower-moving top. It’s still a sturdy mattress, with the comfort layer being slightly more comfortable.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a bouncy, firm feel to it because of the use of foam that is dynamic (in the comfort layer) as well as coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

It is the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support with pressure reduction) as well as Helix Dusk (which combines pressure reduction and spinal support) or Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by back sleepers (which offers firmer spinal support).

Sleeping on the Helix Late at Night (if your preference is a more firm feeling) or the softer and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight and Sunset are the most likely option for people who are average-weight side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are of moderate weight should prefer the supportive Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for back sleepers who weigh a lot because it eases pressure and maintains spinal alignment.

The most comfortable models within the Helix range, like Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset are likely to provide adequate pressure relief for heavy-weight side sleepers.

Heavyweight stomach sleepers On the other hand are likely to move to the Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection) for the best spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a variety of options for light back sleepers. The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all have lots of support for the spine and various levels of pressure relief to suit different styles of sleeping.

Similar to the side sleepers that are lightweight, you can choose from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset and should offer adequate pressure relief, while allowing users to customize the level of hardness to suit their requirements.

Finally stomach sleepers will discover Helix Twilight or Dawn to be the most supportive. Helix Twilight, or Dawn to be the most comfortable.

Helix Mattresses Construction

In terms of construction, all of the Helix mattresses are built in the same manner: They have the same cover, and the same foam comfort layers are laid over individual wrapped supports for coils.

Every Helix mattresses, in particular the newest models, come with A SoftTouch Design cover that is soft, elastic, and breathable. The design lets air circulate freely throughout the mattress’s top. Meanwhile, each Helix model has an extra layer of support that is made of coils individually wrapped and stacked over a dense base foam which gives the mattress the overall shape and strength.

The similarities are not the only part. The cushions’ comfort layers differ in the density, stiffness, placement, and types of foam. There are additional materials offered on certain versions. Let’s take a look at it more closely!.

Helix Sunset

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made of pressure-reducing Memory Plus Foam, which offers the slower-moving feel of memory foam that it is known for. A transition layer composed comprised of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s a bit larger, more bouncier, and more supporting, sits underneath the Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Helix Sunset’s top comfort layer is composed of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s primary comfort layer and the transition layer is made of the Helix Dynamic Foam. This is yet another latex-foam choice, and the multiple layers of this foam gives it a buoyant feel when compared to that of the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the primary comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it offers pressure reduction as well as body shaping. A transition layer of thick high-quality polyfoam is placed underneath the Memory Plus Foam. The layer is extremely responsive, implying that the mattress as a whole reacts faster to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The main comfort layer is made from Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s soft and responsive. It’s a layer of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think of Dusk’s design as similar to that of that of the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam can be layered on top of Memory Plus Foam to create a lively smooth surface. Memory Plus Foam helps relieve pressure as sleepers sink deeper into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above a dense, high-grade polyfoam transition layer. This Memory Plus Foam adds some ease of use, but don’t be deceived by this being an extremely firm mattress that has very only a little bounce.

Helix Dawn

Last but not least, the Helix Dawn comes with a Helix Dynamic Foam comfort layer that is layered over a dense, high-grade polyfoam layer transition layer. This combination produces a soft, bouncy and comfortable sleep surface with very little give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We put the Helix mattress through a set of tests to see how well they performed in key areas including temperature control, edge support, motion transfer and much other areas. Read on to learn the results!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Do you feel hot or cold when sleeping? If you’re worried about your mattress being too hot, you might want to consider buying a LUXE model of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

Based on our testing certain models are better than other models when it comes to keeping out any disturbances that might occur on the mattress’s surface. For instance, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight have the highest level of motion isolation. That’s because there is a slower-moving memory foam near the top of each of the models, it does great job at absorption of motion. These are some of the best mattresses for couples available on the market.

Edge Support

Every Helix mattress had good edge support across all models. When we sat and slept on the edges of each model, we felt safe.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are made from high-density foams as well as sturdy coils, ensuring that they will last for a long time.

Off-Gassing

There was an off-gassing issue from all six Helix mattresses at first. This will go away within a couple of days if not sooner.

Noise

We didn’t hear any distinct noise while moving about on any of these mattresses at the time of our review. Since all of these mattresses have coils, it’s likely that they’ll begin to make noise with time.

Sex

When looking for a sex mattress, most people are concerned about how easy it will be to move positions on the bed. Since all Helix mattresses have coils, they should be flexible enough to let you move around with ease on each. The models that have memory foam on the top layer (particularly the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) may make changing your position a bit more difficult due to their slow motion.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night sleep trial and 10 years of mattress warranty come with each Helix mattress.
