Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You may have noticed that stiffness is already discussed within this list. That’s because one of the most important aspects to think about when purchasing the best mattress is its firmness (and how it affects comfort). These aspects will reveal a lot about a mattress’s ability to accommodate your preferred bed location (s). Let’s look at the firmness and feel of the Helix mattress collection.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses come in a variety of hardness choices, with the softer being moderately soft, and the firmest being fairly firm. Helix Sunset Helix Sunset is on the soft side of the spectrum and we evaluated it with a score at 5.5 out of 10 in the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 is the industry standard for moderate firmness.) Its Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a 6/10, which means it’s still softer than normal. It’s softer than the Helix Midnight, as well as Helix Dusk sit somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Both mattresses scored approximately a 7/10, which is slightly more firm than the average. Helix Twilight and the Helix Twilight, as well as Helix Dawn are at the firmer side of the spectrum, with both receiving a 7.5/10 assessment (firmer than the average).

It is important to keep in mind that the degree of firmness is a personal preference. If you’re looking for the firmness of the mattress, you can assess these mattresses differently based on your weight and preferences. Heavier persons, for example, may find these mattresses more firm because they are able to press deeper into the mattress and reach the support layers. On the other hand, people who weigh less find that these mattresses are more supple due to their position in the comfort layer of each bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on the Helix mattresses for a long time to get an idea of the experience it’s like to rest on each model in various positions. Check out what we found!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Plus MattressBecause of its softness, because of its softness, Helix Sunset didn’t feel nearly comfortable enough to be a good back sleeper. The hips of ours sink a little too far down into our mattress which caused the spine to shift.

Although the Helix Sunset’s gentleness isn’t ideal for back sleepers but it’s great for those who prefer to sleep sideways. We were very relaxed in this position as the mattress’s softness cushioned any stress points around the shoulder and hip. In actual fact, it’s one of the best mattresses for hip pain that we’ve come across.

It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach-sleeping due to its softness. Our hips were too deep into the mattress which pulled our spinal column out of its alignment, exactly like they did when we were asleep back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhen reclining while sleeping, back sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not extraordinary. If you’re planning on sleeping in this position for the entire night, you’ll almost certainly require a mattress with extra support and aids in maintaining appropriate spinal alignment.

It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping on the side due to its softness. We didn’t feel any unwelcome pressure around the hips or shoulders.

It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not sufficient for stomach sleep. Our hips were pushed too far in the mattress causing the spine to shift.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhile resting on the Helix Midnight, we felt fantastic. We felt a little pressure relief, but without losing spinal alignment , thanks to the mattress’s good blend of comfort and support. It’s the most comfortable mattress for back sleepers that we have reviewed on this list.

Even though the Helix Midnight is firmer than it’s counterparts, the Helix Sunset as well as Moonlight and Moonlight, we found it pleasant to sleep on our backs on the mattress. It is a good pressure-relief mattress between the hip and shoulder according to our experience.

When we slept with our stomachs on the Helix Midnight, we were good but not great. If you sleep in this position all night should look for an extra firm mattress that offers greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskIt’s the Helix Dusk is more supportive than the other models we’ve tried, which could be the reason we felt so good while resting upon our backs. We’re confident that we’ll have an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night thanks to the mattress’s suppleness.

It’s likely not a surprise to find that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for a side sleeper considering that we’ve moved to the more firm end on the scale. We noticed some pressure on the hip and shoulder that could create a lot of discomfort if you slept in this position for a long time.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers of average weight because it will help to maintain a healthy spinal alignment. However, stomach sleepers with heavier weights might not get sufficient support in this model.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the ideal bed for back pain. It’s ideal for back sleepers who require extra support due to weight gain or back pain, as well as other causes. The firmer construction of this mattress helps in keeping the hips elevated and properly aligned to the spinal column.

Since the Helix Twilight is on the firmer side, we found it difficult to lie on our backs on this mattress. We felt like we were suffocated on the hips and shoulders.

For most stomach sleepers, the Helix Twilight mattress to be a great choice, as the mattress’ hardness should provide enough of spinal support for this type of position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who prefer a firm mattress will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s high level of support. However, those who prefer a little pressure alleviation while lying on their backs might find the mattress too firm.

It’s the Helix Dawn is far too hard to be used for sleeping on your side, and you’ll end up with lots of pressure points around your shoulder and hip. One of the softer types will be considerably better for those who sleep on their sides.

The Helix Dawn is the most comfortable mattresses for stomach-sleepers in our view. In the evening this supportive and firm mattress will keep your hips up and aligned in alignment with your spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses are all hybrid design that incorporates foam over coils. Despite these commonalities, each Helix mattress has its own distinct individuality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a balanced foam feel. The plush comfort layer encourages sleepers to sink in and gives the mattress the feeling of a slow-moving.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy feeling, particularly when compared to the Sunset one, which is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight, like it’s predecessor, the Helix Sunset, is a balanced feel and a slow-moving top layer. The Midnight is firmer than the Sunset and allows sleepers to sink deeper in the upper layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncey. This is due to the use high-performance foam for the layer on top and coils in the layer supporting it.

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, features a slower-moving top. This is still a firm mattress even though the comfort layer is slightly more cushiony.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a soft, firm and bouncy feel it because to the use of foam that is dynamic (in the cushion layer) along with coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

The Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support with pressure reduction) and Helix Dusk (which combines pressure reduction and spinal support) or Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by back sleepers (which gives a firmer spinal support).

Sleeping on the Helix Midnight (if your preference is a slightly more spongy feeling) or the more comfortable and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight or Sunset is the most likely option for people who are average-weight side sleepers.

Finally, stomach sleepers of moderate weight should prefer the supportive Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for heavyweight back sleepers, as it relieves pressure and maintains the alignment of the spine.

The softest models in the Helix range, such as Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset are likely to provide adequate pressure relief for heavier side sleepers.

Heavyweight stomach sleepers, on the other hand tend to go towards the Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) to ensure proper spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a variety of types available for lightweight back sleepers. For instance, the Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all offer plenty of spinal support and different levels of pressure relief to suit different styles of sleeping.

Similarly, lightweight side sleepers can choose from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset, which should all offer adequate pressure relief, while allowing users to customize the hardness level to their preferences.

Finally, stomach sleepers will find the Helix Twilight or Dawn for the best comfortable.

Helix Mattresses Construction

Regarding construction and construction methods, the majority of all of the Helix mattresses are constructed the same way. They all have the same cover and the foam comfort layers are laid over individual wrapped supports for coils.

Every Helix mattresses, including the newest models, come with a SoftTouch Design cover that is elastic, soft, and air-tight. The design lets air circulate freely throughout the top of the mattress. In addition, every Helix model is equipped with an extra layer of support that is made of coils individually wrapped and stacked over a high-density base foam which gives the mattress the overall shape and stability.

The similarities are not the only part. The cushions’ comfort layers differ in their density, stiffness, placement and kinds of foam. There are additional materials available in certain models. Let’s examine it more carefully!.

Helix Sunset

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made of pressure-reducing Memory Plus Foam, which gives you the slow-moving feeling of memory foam that it is famous for. The transition layer is made from Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s firmer, bouncier, and more supporting, sits underneath memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Sunset’s comfort layer is composed out of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s main comfort layer and the transition layer is made of the Helix Dynamic Foam. This is yet another latex-foam choice and the numerous layers of this foam gives it a buoyant feel when compared with Helix Sunset. Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the main comfort layer in the Helix Midnight, and it offers pressure reduction as well as body shaping. A transition layer of dense high-quality polyfoam lies under the Memory Plus Foam. This layer is very responsive, implying that the mattress as a whole reacts faster to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The main comfort layer is constructed of Helix Dynamic Foam, a foam substitute made of latex that is bouncy and responsive. A layer of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam layer. (Think of the Dusk’s structure as being identical to that in the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam can be placed on top of Memory Plus Foam to create a lively smooth surface. Memory Plus Foam helps relieve pressure as sleepers sink deeper into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

Helix Twilight, like the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above an extremely dense and high-grade polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. The Memory Plus Foam adds some comfort, but don’t be taken in by the appearance: this is an extremely firm mattress that has very less give.

Helix Dawn

Then, last but not least The Helix Dawn comes with a Helix Dynamic Foam comfort layer, which is sandwiched over a thick, high-quality polyfoam layer transition layer. The result is a firm, bouncy, and comfortable sleep surface with very little give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We tested our Helix mattress through a set of tests to find out the performance of these mattresses in key areas such as the regulation of temperature as well as motion transfer, edge support and much more. Read on to learn the results!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Sleeping Hot or Cold If you’re still concerned about the possibility of overheating, think about purchasing a LUXE version of your mattress.

Motion Transfer

According to our tests that some mattresses outperform others in minimising disturbances to the surface of the mattress. For instance, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight offered the most effective motion isolation. It’s due they have a memory foam that is slower moving close to the top of each of these models, it does an excellent job of absorbing motion. These are the top mattresses for couples available on the market.

Edge Support

Each Helix mattress offered good edge support across all models. As we sat and fell asleep on the edges of each model, we felt comfortable and safe.

Durability

All of the Helix mattresses are manufactured with strong coils and high-density foams, ensuring that they will last for a long time.

Off-Gassing

There was some off-gassing from all six Helix mattresses in the beginning. This will go away in a few days, or perhaps sooner.

Noise

There was no noticeable noise while moving about on one of these mattresses at the time we wrote our review. Since each mattress has coils, it’s likely that they’ll start to sound squeaky as time passes.

Sex

When looking for a sex mattress, most individuals are concerned about how simple it is to change places on their mattress. Because all of the Helix mattresses feature coils, they should be flexible enough to allow you to move easily across each. The models that have memory foam in the upper layer (particularly, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) may make changing positions harder due to their slow movement.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night trial period of sleep as well as 10 years of mattress warranty are provided in each Helix mattress.
