Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel
It’s likely that stiffness has already been discussed throughout this article. That’s because one of the most important aspects to think about when shopping for the best mattress is its firmness (and the way that firmness impacts comfort). These factors will tell you a lot about a mattress’s suitableness for your sleep location (s). Let’s have a review of the firmness and feel that comes with the Helix mattress range.
What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?
The Helix mattresses are available in a wide range of choices, with the softer being moderately soft and the firmest being fairly firm. Its Helix Sunset is on the soft side of the spectrum; we gave it a hardness rating that was 5.5 out of 10 in the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 is the industry standard for moderate firmness.) Its Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10, which means it’s still less firm than average. Helix Dusk and the Helix Midnight as well as the Helix Dusk sit somewhere between the spectrum. Both of these mattresses received a rating of around 7/10 which is slightly heavier than average. They are Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn are on the harder end of the spectrum with each receiving the 7.5/10 assessment (firmer than average).
It’s crucial to remember that the level of hardness is a matter of personal preference. When it comes to the firmness, you could evaluate these mattresses in different ways based on your weight and preferences. People who are heavier, for instance could find the mattresses more firm as they can push further into the mattress and reach the support layers. Meanwhile, lighter people may be surprised to find these mattresses more supple due to their position within the comfortable layer every bed(s).
Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses
We slept on Helix mattress for a long period of time in order to gain a clear picture of the experience it’s like to rest on each model in different positions. Check out the results!
Helix Sunset Mattress
Due to its softness the Helix Sunset didn’t feel nearly supportive enough for back sleeping. Our hips were a bit too deep down into our mattress causing the spine to shift.
The Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for back sleepers It’s perfect for those who sleep on their sides. We were very at ease in this position due to the mattress’s softness helped cushion any stress points around the shoulder and hip. In actual fact, it’s one of the most comfortable mattresses for hip pain we’ve seen.
The Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleep due of its softness. Our hips sank too deeply into the mattress and pulled the spine out of alignment, just as they did when we were back sleeping.
Helix Moonlight Mattress
While back sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not extraordinary. If you’re planning on sleeping in this position all night, you’ll probably need a more firm mattress that provides additional support and helps maintain appropriate spinal alignment.
The Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping sideways because of its comfort. There was no unwelcome tension around the shoulder or hip.
It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not adequate for stomach-sleeping. Our hips fell too deeply to the bed, causing the spine to shift.
Helix Midnight Mattress
While resting upon the Helix Midnight and feeling fantastic, we were able to feel great. We felt a little pressure relief, but without losing spine alignment due to the mattress’s good balance of support and comfort. It’s the best mattress for back sleepers that we have reviewed on this list.
Even though the Helix Midnight mattress is firmer that the Helix Sunset or Moonlight, we found it pleasant to sleep on our sides on the mattress. It offers adequate pressure relief on the hip and shoulder in our opinion.
As we lay on our stomachs in the Helix Midnight, we were good but not great. People who sleep in this way all night should look for an extra firm mattress that offers more spinal support.
Helix Dusk Mattress
The Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses we’ve tried, which could be the reason we felt so comfortable while lying on our backs. We’re confident that we’ll have an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night due to the mattress’s suppleness.
It’s likely not a surprise to find that Helix Dusk feels a little too soft for sleeping on your side since we’ve shifted to the firmer end of the spectrum. We noticed some pressure on the hip and shoulder area, which would definitely create a lot of discomfort if you were to sleep in this position for a long time.
The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers with a normal weight because it will help to maintain a healthy spine alignment. However, stomach sleepers who are heavier may not find enough support here.
Helix Twilight Mattress
The Helix Twilight was proved to be the best mattress for back discomfort. It’s ideal for back sleepers who require extra support due to weight gain, back pain, or other reasons. The firmer construction of this mattress assists in keeping hips lifted and aligned with the spine.
Because this mattress Helix Twilight is more firm than the average mattress, we found it difficult to sleep on our sides on the mattress. We felt suffocated in the shoulders and hips.
Most stomach sleepers should find the Helix Twilight mattress to be an ideal one, as the mattress’s firmness should give enough spinal support for this type of position.
Helix Dawn Mattress
Back sleepers who like a firm mattress will appreciate the high degree of support. But, those who want a little pressure alleviation when lying back might find the mattress too firm.
The Helix Dawn is far too hard to be used for sleeping on your side, and you’ll end up with a lot of pressure points on your shoulder and hip. One of the softer types will be much more suitable for side sleepers.
It is the Helix Dawn is the greatest mattresses for stomach-sleepers, in our view. Throughout the night this supportive and firm mattress helps keep the hips elevated and aligned in alignment with your spine.
What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?
Helix mattresses are all hybrid composition with foam layered over coils. Despite these similarities however, each model has its own distinct character.
The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a balanced foam feel. The plush comfort layer encourages sleepers to relax and provides the mattress with an elongated feel.
The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy feeling, particularly when compared to the Sunset that is more sensitive.
The Helix Midnight, like Helix Sunset, like Helix Sunset, is a smooth, even texture and smooth top layer that moves slowly. The Midnight is a bit more firm than the Sunset, allowing sleepers to sink a little further into the top layer.
The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncey. This is due to the use dynamic foam for the layer on top and coils in the layer supporting it.
The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, has a more sluggish top. It’s still a solid mattress despite the comfort layer being slightly more cushiony.
Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a soft, firm and bouncy feel it due to the use of foam that is dynamic (in the layer of comfort) along with coils (in the support layer).
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs
It is the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support with pressure reduction) and the Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by average-weight back sleepers (which offers firmer spinal support).
Sleeping on the Helix Late at Night (if your preference is a slightly harder sensation) or the softer and more pressure-reducing Helix Moonlight (or Sunset) is the most likely option for people who are average-weight side sleepers.
Finally, stomach sleepers of moderate weight should prefer the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs
The Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for heavyweight back sleepers since it alleviates pressure while maintaining the alignment of the spine.
The softest models in the Helix range, like Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset, should provide sufficient of pressure relief for heavyweight side sleepers.
The stomach sleepers who are heavy On the other hand, will most likely go towards Helix Dawn. Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection) for proper spinal support.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs
There should be a variety of options for light back sleepers. For instance, the Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all provide plenty of support for the spine and various degrees of pressure relief that can accommodate different styles of sleeping.
Similarly, lightweight side sleepers can choose from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset that should all provide adequate pressure relief while allowing users to customize the hardness level to their requirements.
Finally, stomach sleepers will find the Helix Twilight or Dawn to be the most comfortable.
Helix Mattresses Construction
Regarding construction and construction methods, the majority of Helix mattresses are constructed in the same way. Helix mattresses are constructed in the same way: They share the same cover, and the same foam comfort layers are layered above individually wrapped supports for coils.
Every Helix mattresses, including, have the SoftTouch Design cover that is elastic, soft, and breathable. This allows air to circulate freely throughout the mattress’s top. Meanwhile, each Helix model is equipped with an additional layer of support made of individually wrapped coils stacked over a high-density base foam that gives the mattress it’s overall design and support.
The similarities stop there for the most part. The foam layers that provide comfort differ in the density, stiffness, placement, and types of foam. Additional materials are also available on some versions. Let’s take a examine it more carefully!.
Helix Sunset
The comfort layer of the Helix Sunset is made up of pressure-reducing Memory Plus Foam, which provides the slow-moving, comfortable feel of memory foam that it is famous for. A layer of transition made up of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s firmer, bouncier, and more supportive, is placed beneath memory Plus Foam.
Helix Moonlight

It is a different latex-foam alternative with multiple layers of this dynamic foam gives it a buoyant feel when compared to that of the Helix Sunset.
Helix Midnight
Memory Plus Foam is the principal comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it offers pressure reduction as well as body shaping. A layer of transitional high-quality polyfoam lies underneath that Memory Plus Foam. The layer is extremely responsive, implying that the mattress in general reacts faster to pressure.
Helix Dusk
The Helix Dusk’s primary comfort layer is made up out of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s bouncy and responsive. The layer is made comprised of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think of Dusk’s design as being identical to that from the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam can be placed on top of Memory Plus Foam to create a bouncy and responsive surface. Memory Plus Foam provides pressure relief when sleepers lie down on the mattress.
Helix Twilight
The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above the dense, high-quality polyfoam transition layer. Its Memory Plus Foam adds some ease of use, but don’t be fooled: this is an extremely firm mattress that has very only a little bounce.
Helix Dawn
Last but not least last but not least, the Helix Dawn has an Helix Comfort Layer made of Dynamic Foam layered over a thick, high-quality polyfoam layer transition layer. This combination produces a soft, bouncy and responsive sleep surface with very little give.

Helix Mattresses Performance
We put the Helix mattress through a series of tests to determine how well they performed in key areas such as temperature regulation and motion transfer, edge support, and many more. Keep reading to find out what they did!
Sleeping Hot or Cold
Are you sleeping hot or cold? If you’re worried about the possibility of overheating, think about purchasing a LUXE version of your mattress.
Motion Transfer
Based on our testing that some mattresses outperform others when it comes to minimising disturbances to your mattress’s top. For instance, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight provided the best motion-isolating. It’s due they have a memory foam that is slower moving at the top of each of the models, which do an excellent job of absorbing motion. These are some of the best mattresses for couples that are available on the market.
Edge Support
Every Helix mattress provided good edge support across all models. When we sat and slept on the edges of each mattress, we felt secure.
Durability
The Helix mattresses are constructed with high-density foams as well as sturdy coils to ensure they’ll last for a long period of time.
Off-Gassing
We did notice some off-gassing from the six Helix mattresses in the beginning. The issue will be gone within a couple of days, or perhaps sooner.
Noise
We didn’t notice any noticeable sound when moving around on the mattresses during the time we wrote our test. However, because all of them have coils, it’s probable that they’ll begin to squeak as time passes.
Sex
When searching for a sex mattress, a majority of people are concerned about how simple it is to change places on their bed. Because all of the Helix mattresses have coils, they must be sufficient to allow you to move easily across any of them. The models with memory foam in the top layer (particularly those that have memory foam in the top layer (such as Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) could make changing positions a little harder due to their slow motion.
