Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

It’s likely that stiffness has already been mentioned in this roundup. This is because one of the most important aspects to think about when buying for a new mattress is the firmness (and how firmness affects comfort). These aspects will reveal the bed’s ability to accommodate your preferred sleeping place (s). Let’s have a look at the comfort and firmness in the Helix mattress range.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses come in a variety of hardness options, with the most soft being moderately soft and the firmest being fairly firm. Its Helix Sunset is on the soft side of the spectrum; we evaluated it with a score of 5.5 out of 10 on the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 is considered to be an industry standard for medium firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10, which means it’s still less firm than average. It’s softer than the Helix Midnight and Helix Dusk fall somewhere between the spectrum. Both of these mattresses scored approximately a 7/10 which is slightly firmer than normal. They are Helix Twilight as well as the Helix Dawn are on the harder end of the spectrum, both receiving an 7.5/10 assessment (firmer than average).

It’s important to be aware that hardness is a individual preference. If you’re looking for the firmness of the mattress, you can assess these mattresses differently based on your weight and preferences. For instance, heavier people might find them more firm as they can push further into the mattress to reach into the support layers. On the other hand, people who weigh less discover that these mattresses are more supple due to their position in the comfort layer of every bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on Helix mattresses for a lengthy period in order to get a clear picture of the experience it’s like to rest on each model in different positions. Check out what we found!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Mattress Weight MaximumBecause of its softness, due to its softness, the Helix Sunset didn’t feel nearly sufficient for back sleepers. Our hips sank a little too deep in the bed, which caused the spine to be misaligned.

The Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t the best for back sleepers but it’s great for those who prefer to sleep sideways. We were very relaxed in this position as the mattress’s softness helped cushion any tension points in the hip and shoulder. It’s actually one of the best mattresses for hip discomfort that we’ve come across.

It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleep due of its softness. Our hips fell too far into the mattress, pulling the spine out of alignment just like they did when we were sleeping back to back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhile back sleeping in a back position, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not exceptional. If you plan on sleeping in this position for the duration of the night, you’ll probably need a more firm mattress with extra support and aids in maintaining an appropriate spine alignment.

It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping sideways due to its softness. There was no unwelcome pressure on the hips or shoulders.

It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, isn’t supportive enough for stomach sleeping. Our hips fell too deeply in the mattress which caused the spine to be out of alignment.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureAs we slept upon the Helix Midnight, we felt fantastic. We felt a little pressure relief, but without losing spine alignment due to the mattress’s great combination of support and comfort. It is the greatest mattress for back sleepers on this list.

Despite the fact that the Helix Midnight is more firm than Helix Sunset and Moonlight, it is still a good mattress. Helix Sunset or Moonlight, we found it pleasant to sleep on our backs on the mattress. It offers adequate pressure relief between the hip and shoulder, in our opinion.

As we lay on our stomachs in the Helix Midnight, we felt well, but not super. People who sleep in this position all night long should look for a firmer mattress that provides more spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than the other models we’ve tried, which could explain why we felt so at ease while sleeping in our backs. We’re sure that we’ll be able to maintain good spinal alignment throughout the night due to the mattress’s supportive qualities.

It’s not surprising it is that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for a side sleeper considering that we’ve moved to the firmer end on the scale. We noticed some pressure on the hip and shoulder, which would definitely cause significant discomfort if you were to sleep in this position for the entire night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers who weigh around average since it can help them maintain appropriate spine alignment. However, stomach sleepers who are heavier may not receive enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the best mattress for back pain. It is ideal for those who require extra support due to weight gain back pain, other causes. The firmer construction of this mattress assists in keeping the hips lifted and aligned with the spine.

Because it is the case that Helix Twilight is on the firmer side It was difficult to lay on our backs on the mattress. We felt like we were suffocated on the hips and shoulders.

Most stomach sleepers should find the Helix Twilight mattress to be a good choice, as the mattress’s hardness will offer enough support to the spine in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who favor mattresses that are firm will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s superior level of support. However, those who like a little pressure alleviation when resting on their backs could find this mattress too firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too hard for side sleeping, and you’ll end up with lots of pressure points around your hip and shoulder. The Helix Dawn that is soft is much better for those who sleep on their sides.

The Helix Dawn mattress is considered to be the greatest mattresses for stomach-sleepers in our opinion. Through the night the firm and supportive mattress keeps the hips raised and in alignment to the spinal column.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses all have a hybrid composition with foam layered over coils. However, despite these similarities however, each model has its own distinct individuality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a well-balanced foam feel. The comfort layer’s plushness encourages sleepers to relax and provides the mattress with the feeling of a slow-moving.

It is worth noting that the Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, gives a bouncy sensation, especially when contrasted with the Sunset, which is less sensitive.

The Helix Midnight similar to the Helix Sunset, offers an even feel and slower-moving upper layer. The Midnight is a bit more firm than the Sunset which allows sleepers to sink a little deeper down into the layer above.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is because of the use of active foam on the upper layer, and coils in the layer supporting it.

It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, has a more sluggish top. It’s still a sturdy mattress, even though the comfort layer is a little more enveloping.

For stomach sleepers, those of moderate weight should consider the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for heavyweight back sleepers, as it relieves tension while ensuring the alignment of the spine.

The most comfortable models within the Helix range, such as the Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset are likely to provide adequate pressure relief for heavyweight side sleepers.

Heavyweight stomach sleepers however are likely to move toward The Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection) for proper spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

Finally, stomach sleepers will find that the Helix Twilight and Dawn for the best supportive.

Each Helix mattress had excellent edge support throughout the range. As we sat and fell asleep at the edge of each model, we felt safe.

Durability

All of the Helix mattresses are made from high-density foams and robust coils, ensuring that they will last for a long period of period of.

Off-Gassing

We noticed some off-gassing from the six Helix mattresses at first. The issue will be gone in a few days, or perhaps sooner.

Noise

We didn’t notice any noticeable sound when moving around on any of these mattresses during the time of our review. But, since all of these mattresses have coils, it’s possible that they’ll begin to make noise as time passes.

Sex

When searching for a sex mattress, a majority of people are concerned about how easy it will be to shift positions on the mattress. Because all of the Helix mattresses are made of coils, they must be sufficient to allow you to move around with ease on any of them.
