Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You might have noticed that stiffness was already discussed in this roundup. That’s because one of the most crucial elements to consider when purchasing a new mattress is firmness (and how firmness affects the comfort). These factors will tell you the bed’s suitability for your chosen sleep position (s). Let’s look at the comfort and firmness in the Helix mattress collection.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses are available in a wide range of options, with the most soft being moderately soft, and the firmest being fairly firm. The Helix Sunset is on the lower end of the scale; we gave it a hardness rating that was 5.5 out of 10 in the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 is the industry standard for moderate firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10, which means it’s still less firm than average. Helix Dusk and the Helix Midnight and Helix Dusk sit somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Both of these mattresses have a score of 7/10, which is a bit more firm than the average. They are Helix Twilight as well as the Helix Dawn are on the more difficult side of the spectrum, each receiving a 7.5/10 rating (firmer than the average).

It is important to remember that the level of hardness is a matter of personal preference. If you’re looking for the firmness, you could assess these mattresses differently based on your body weight and your personal preferences. Heavier persons, for example could find the mattresses more firm because they are able to press deeper into the mattress and get to the support layers. On the other hand, people who weigh less find that these mattresses are softer since they are higher on the comfort level of each bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on the Helix mattresses for a long period in order to get an idea of what it’s like rest on each model in various positions. Check out the results!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Mattress Store LocationsDue to its softness the Helix Sunset wasn’t sufficient for back sleepers. The hips of ours sink a little too far in the bed, which caused the spine to shift.

While the Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for back sleepers, it’s ideal for those who sleep on their sides. We were very relaxed in this position as the mattress’s softness helped cushion any pressure areas around the hip and shoulder. In fact, it’s one of the best mattresses for hip pain that we’ve found.

It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach-sleeping due of its softness. Our hips were too deep into the mattress and pulled the spinal column out of its alignment, exactly as they did when we were asleep back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightAs a back sleeper in a back position, it was apparent that the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not extraordinary. If you’re planning to sleep in this position all through the night, you’ll want a firmer mattress that provides additional support and helps maintain the proper alignment of your spine.

The Helix Moonlight is an excellent choice for side sleeping due to its softness. We didn’t feel any uncomfortable pressure around the hips or shoulders.

The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, isn’t adequate for stomach-sleeping. Our hips were pushed too far to the bed, causing the spine to shift.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhile resting upon the Helix Midnight and feeling fantastic, we were able to feel great. We experienced a bit of pressure alleviation without sacrificing spine alignment due to the mattress’s excellent balance of support and comfort. It’s the best mattress for those who sleep on their backs on this list.

Even though the Helix Midnight mattress is firmer than it’s counterparts, the Helix Sunset or Moonlight and Moonlight, we were able to rest comfortably on our backs on the mattress. It is a good pressure-relief mattress around the shoulder and hip according to our experience.

When we slept with our stomachs on the Helix Midnight, we were well, but not super. If you sleep in this way throughout the night should consider a firmer mattress that provides greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses we’ve tried, which could explain why we felt at ease while sleeping in our backs. We’re sure that we’ll be able to maintain proper spinal alignment all night because of the mattress’s suppleness.

It’s not surprising to find that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for side sleeping since we’ve shifted to the firmer end of the spectrum. We noticed some pressure on the hip and shoulder area, which would definitely cause significant discomfort if you were to sleep in this position for a long time.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers with a normal weight, as it should assist in maintaining a proper spinal alignment. However, heavier stomach sleepers might not get sufficient support.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the best mattress for back pain. It is ideal for those who require more support due to weight gain or back pain, as well as other reasons. The more firm construction of this mattress helps in keeping the hips lifted and aligned to the spinal column.

Because the Helix Twilight is slightly firmer than other mattresses It was difficult to lay on our backs on the mattress. We felt suffocated in the hips and shoulders.

Most stomach sleepers should find the Helix Twilight to be an ideal fit, since the mattress’s hardness will provide enough of spinal support in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who prefer an extra firm mattress will love the Helix Dawn’s superior level of support. However, those who prefer an occasional relief from pressure when resting on their backs might find the mattress to be excessively firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too hard for side sleeping and you’ll end up with a lot of pressure points on your hip and shoulder. One of the softer types will be considerably better for sleepers who prefer side sleeping.

It is the Helix Dawn Mattress is one of the best mattress for stomach sleepers, in our view. Through the night the firm and supportive mattress keeps the hips raised and in alignment in alignment with your spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses all have a hybrid composition with foam layered over coils. However, despite these similarities, each Helix mattress has its own distinct character.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a balanced foam feel. The comfort layer’s plushness encourages sleepers to relax and creates a slow-moving feel.

It is worth noting that the Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, offers a lively feeling, particularly when compared to the Sunset, which is less sensitive.

The Helix Midnight similar to Helix Sunset, like Helix Sunset, is a balanced feel and a slow-moving top layer. The Midnight is more firm than the Sunset and allows sleepers to sink more deeply into the top layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncey. This is due to the use active foam for the layer on top and coils in the supporting layer.

It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, has a more sluggish top. It’s still a sturdy mattress even though the comfort layer is slightly more comfortable.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a firm, bouncy feel to it due to the use of foam that is dynamic (in the cushion layer) along with coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

The Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support with pressure reduction) or Helix Dusk (which combines pressure reduction and spinal support) or Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by average-weight back sleepers (which gives a firmer spinal support).

The Helix Late at Night (if your preference is a slightly harder sensation) or the softer and more pressure-reducing Helix Moonlight or Sunset is the most likely option for average-weight side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are of moderate weight should prefer the supportive Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

The Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for those who are heavy-weight back sleepers because it eases pressure and maintains the alignment of the spine.

The most comfortable models within the Helix range, like the Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset, should provide sufficient of pressure relief for heavyweight side sleepers.

Heavyweight stomach sleepers On the other hand are likely to move towards the Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection) for proper spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a variety of models for light back sleepers. For instance, the Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all offer plenty of support for the spine and various levels of pressure relief that can accommodate different sleeping styles.

In the same way, side sleepers who are light can select from Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset, which should all give adequate pressure relief while allowing users to customize the hardness level to their preferences.

Finally stomach sleepers will appreciate the Helix Twilight and Dawn to be the most supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

Regarding construction and construction methods, the majority of Helix mattresses are constructed in the same way. Helix mattresses are constructed the same way: They share the same cover, and the same foam comfort layers are laid over individual supports for coils.

The majority of Helix mattresses, and in particular the newest models, come with a SoftTouch Design cover that is elastic, soft, and breathable. This allows air to circulate freely throughout the top of the mattress. Meanwhile, each Helix model has an additional layer of support made of individually wrapped coils stacked over a dense base foam that gives the mattress its overall structure and support.

The similarities end there for the most part. The foam layers that provide comfort differ in the density, stiffness, placement and kinds of foam. Other materials are available in certain models. Let’s examine it more carefully!.

Helix Sunset

Its cushion of comfort is made up of pressure-relieving Memory Plus Foam, which gives you the slow-moving feeling of memory foam that it is known for. A layer of transition made up of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s a bit larger, more bouncier, and more supporting, sits under the Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is comprised of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s main comfort layer and transition layer are made from Helix Dynamic Foam. This is another latex-foam option, and the multiple layers of this dynamic foam give it a bouncy feel when compared with Helix Sunset. Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the principal comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it provides pressure reduction and body shaping. A transition layer of dense high-quality polyfoam lies underneath that Memory Plus Foam. The layer is extremely responsive, which means that the mattress in general responds more quickly to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The main comfort layer is made up from Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s bouncy and receptive. A layer of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam layer. (Think of Dusk’s construction as being identical to that in that of the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam can be laid on top of Memory Plus Foam to produce a bouncy, responsive surface, while Memory Plus Foam provides pressure relief as sleepers sink into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above a dense, high-grade polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. Its Memory Plus Foam adds some convenience, but don’t get taken in by the appearance: this is a firm mattress with less give.

Helix Dawn

Then, last but not least last but not least, the Helix Dawn comes with an Helix dynamic foam comfort layer, which is sandwiched over a dense, high-grade polyfoam transition layer. This creates a soft, bouncy and comfortable sleep surface with very minimal give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We tested Helix mattresses through a series of tests. Helix mattresses to a series of tests to find out how well they performed in key areas such as temperature control as well as motion transfer, edge support and more. Keep reading to find out the results!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Are you sleeping hot or cold? If you’re concerned about overheating, consider purchasing a LUXE version of your mattress.

Motion Transfer

According to our tests that some mattresses outperform other models when it comes to minimising disturbances to the surface of the mattress. It was found that the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight offered the most effective motion-isolating. It’s due to the slower-moving memory foam near the top of all of these models, which do an excellent job of absorption of motion. These are among the most comfortable mattresses for couples that are available on the market.

Edge Support

Every Helix mattress had an excellent edge support across all models. When we sat and slept near the edges of every mattress, we felt secure.

Durability

All of the Helix mattresses are manufactured with high-density foams as well as sturdy coils which ensure that they can last for a long period of.

Off-Gassing

We noticed an off-gassing issue from all six Helix mattresses at first. The issue will be gone within a couple of days in the event that it is not earlier.

Noise

We didn’t hear any distinct noise while moving about on any of these mattresses at the time of our test. However, because all of these mattresses have coils, it’s probable that they’ll start to sound squeaky over time.

Sex

When looking for a sex mattress, most people are concerned about how easy it will be to move positions on the bed. Since all Helix mattresses feature coils, they are flexible enough to let you move around easily on all of them. The models with memory foam in their top layers (particularly, Helix Sunset, Midnight and Twilight) Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) might make changing your position a bit more difficult because of their slow movement.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night trial period of sleep as well as a 10-year mattress guarantee are included with each Helix mattress.
