Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel
You might have noticed that stiffness was already mentioned throughout this article. That’s because one of the most important aspects to think about when purchasing the best mattress is its firmness (and the way that firmness impacts comfort). These aspects will reveal a lot about a mattress’s ability to accommodate your preferred sleeping place (s). Let’s look at the quality and firmness of the Helix mattress range.
What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?
The Helix mattresses are available in a range of different hardness options, with the softest being moderately soft and the most firm being quite firm. Helix Sunset Helix Sunset is on the soft side of the spectrum We evaluated it with a score at 5.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. (A 6.5/10 would be the standard industry norm for moderate firmness.) Its Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10 that means it’s softer than normal. It’s softer than the Helix Midnight, as well as Helix Dusk are in the middle of the spectrum. Both of these mattresses received a rating of around 7/10, which is a bit more firm than the average. The Helix Twilight as well as the Helix Dawn are at the firmer side of the spectrum, both getting the 7.5/10 rating (firmer than average).
It’s crucial to be aware that the level of hardness is a matter of individual preference. When it comes to firmness, you may rate these mattresses differently depending on your body weight and your personal preferences. Heavier persons, for example, may find these mattresses firmer since they can press further into the mattress and get to the support layers. However, those who are lighter may discover that these mattresses are softer since they are higher on the comfort level of each bed(s).
Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses
We slept on Helix beds for an long period of time in order to gain an accurate picture of the experience it’s like to sleep on each model in different positions. Check out what we discovered!
Helix Sunset Mattress
Due to its softness, because of its softness, Helix Sunset was not comfortable enough to be a good back sleeper. Our hips were a bit too deeply down into our mattress which caused the spine to shift.
While the Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for those who sleep on their backs but it’s great for those who prefer to sleep sideways. We were very at ease in this position due to the soft mattress cushioned possible pressure areas around the hip and shoulder. In fact, it’s one of the greatest mattresses for hip pain that we’ve come across.
It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleep due of its softness. Our hips fell too far into the mattress, pulling the back out of position, just the way they did when were sleeping back to back.
Helix Moonlight Mattress
As a back sleeper in a back position, back sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not outstanding. If you’re planning to sleep in this position for the duration of the night, you’ll almost certainly want a firmer mattress that provides extra support and aids in maintaining appropriate spinal alignment.
It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping on the side because of its comfort. We didn’t feel any uncomfortable pressure on the shoulder or hip.
The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not adequate for stomach-sleeping. Our hips sank too deeply in the mattress causing the spine to shift.
Helix Midnight Mattress
While resting in the Helix Midnight We felt amazing. We experienced a bit of pressure relief, but without losing spinal alignment thanks to the mattress’s excellent combination of support and comfort. It’s the best mattress for back sleepers on this list.
Even though the Helix Midnight is firmer in comparison to Helix Sunset and Moonlight, it is still a good mattress. Helix Sunset as well as Moonlight, we were able to rest comfortably on our sides on the mattress. It offers adequate pressure relief between the hip and shoulder according to our experience.
When we slept with our stomachs on the Helix Midnight, we were good but not great. People who sleep in this posture all night long should look for a firmer mattress that provides more spinal support.
Helix Dusk Mattress
The Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses that we’ve tested. This could explain why we felt good while resting upon our backs. We’re confident that we’ll have good spinal alignment throughout the night because of the mattress’s suppleness.
It’s probably not surprising to find that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for a side sleeper given that we’ve moved into the more firm end in the range. There was some discomfort around the hip and shoulder that could cause discomfort if you sleep in this position all night.
The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers who weigh around average since it can help to maintain a healthy spinal alignment. However, stomach sleepers with heavier weights may not find sufficient support.
Helix Twilight Mattress
The Helix Twilight was proved to be the best mattress for back pain. It is ideal for those who require additional support owing to increased weight, back pain, or other causes. The more firm construction of this mattress aids in keeping hips lifted and aligned to the spinal column.
Since it is the case that Helix Twilight is slightly firmer than other mattresses, we found it difficult to lay on our backs on the mattress. We felt as if we were being suffocated by the hips and shoulders.
The majority of stomach sleepers will find the Helix Twilight mattress to be an ideal fit, since the mattress’ hardness should give enough spinal support for this type of position.
Helix Dawn Mattress
Back sleepers who favor mattresses that are firm will appreciate the high degree of support. However, those who like an occasional relief from pressure when lying back could find this mattress too firm.
It’s the Helix Dawn is far too hard for side sleeping and you’ll be left with lots of pressure points around your hip and shoulder. A softer model will be considerably better for sleepers who prefer side sleeping.
It is the Helix Dawn Mattress is one of the most comfortable mattresses for stomach-sleepers, in our opinion. Throughout the night, this firm and supportive mattress helps keep the hips elevated and in alignment in alignment with your spine.
What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?
Helix mattresses are all hybrid structure that has foam layers over coils. Despite these commonalities every model has its own distinctive character.
The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a well-balanced foam feel. The plush comfort layer encourages sleepers to sink in and provides the mattress with the feeling of a slow-moving.
It is worth noting that the Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, offers a lively feeling, particularly when compared with the Sunset, which is less sensitive.
The Helix Midnight is, just like the Helix Sunset, has a balanced feel and a slow-moving top layer. The Midnight is more firm than the Sunset, allowing sleepers to sink further into the top layer.
The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncey. This is due to the use high-performance foam for the layer on top, and coils in the supporting layer.
The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, has a more sluggish top. It’s still a solid mattress, despite the comfort layer being slightly more cushiony.
Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a bouncy, firm feel to it due to the use of dynamic foam (in the comfort layer) and coils (in the support layer).
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs
It is the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support and pressure reduction) or the Helix Dusk are likely to be the preferred choice for back sleepers (which offers firmer spinal support).
The Helix Midnight (if you prefer a more firm feeling) or the soft and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight and Sunset are the most likely option for people who are average-weight side sleepers.
Finally, stomach sleepers with a moderate weight should choose the supportive Helix Twilight or Dawn.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs
The Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for those who are heavy-weight back sleepers, as it relieves tension while ensuring spinal alignment.
The most soft models of the Helix range, such as the Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset are likely to provide adequate pressure relief for heavyweight side sleepers.
For stomach sleepers with heavy weights however, will most likely go toward Helix Dawn. Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) for proper spinal support.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs
There should be a variety of models for light back sleepers. For instance, the Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all have lots of spinal support and different degrees of pressure relief to suit different sleeping styles.
Similar to the side sleepers that are lightweight, you can select from Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset that should all offer adequate pressure relief, and allow users to adjust the hardness level to their requirements.
Finally stomach sleepers will appreciate Helix Twilight or Dawn to be the most supportive. Helix Twilight and Dawn as the most supportive.
Helix Mattresses Construction
In terms of construction, all all of the Helix mattresses are constructed in the same way: They share the same cover and the foam comfort layers are laid over individual the coils to support them.
The majority of Helix mattresses, and in particular, have the SoftTouch Design cover that is elastic, soft, and air-tight. This design allows air to circulate freely throughout the top of the mattress. Meanwhile, each Helix model has an extra layer of support that is made of individually wrapped coils stacked over a dense base foam which gives the mattress the overall shape and support.
The similarities end there for the most part. The comfort layers of these mattresses vary in density, stiffness, placement and the types of foam. There are additional materials available in certain models. Let’s take a look at it more closely!.
The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made up of pressure-relieving Memory Plus Foam, which offers the slower-moving feel of memory foam that it is famous for. A transition layer composed comprised of Helix Dynamic foam, a foam made of latex that’s more firm, bouncier and more bolstering, sits under the Memory Plus Foam.
While the Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is comprised out of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s comfort layer and transition layer are made of Helix’s Dynamic Foam. It is a different latex-foam alternative with multiple layers of this foam gives it a buoyant feeling when compared to that of the Helix Sunset.
Memory Plus Foam is the primary comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it offers pressure reduction as well as body shaping. A transition layer of dense high-quality polyfoam is placed under that Memory Plus Foam. The layer is extremely flexible, meaning that the mattress overall responds more quickly to pressure.
The main comfort layer is made out of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s bouncy and receptive. A layer of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think about the Dusk’s design as similar to the one in that of the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam is laid on top of Memory Plus Foam to create a lively smooth surface. Memory Plus Foam helps relieve pressure as sleepers sink into the mattress.
It’s the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above a dense, high-grade polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. Its Memory Plus Foam adds some comfort, but don’t be deceived by this being an extremely firm mattress that has very little give.
Last but not least The Helix Dawn comes with a Helix dynamic foam comfort layer layered over a high-quality, dense polyfoam layer transition layer. The result is a firm, bouncy, and responsive sleep surface with very minimal give.

Helix Mattresses Performance
We tested the Helix mattresses through a set of tests to find out how well they performed in key areas including temperature regulation as well as motion transfer, edge support and much other areas. Read on to learn the results!
Sleeping Hot or Cold
Sleeping Hot or Cold If you’re worried about the possibility of overheating, think about purchasing a LUXE model of any mattress.
According to our tests certain models are better than others in minimising disturbances to the surface of the mattress. It was found that the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight offered the most effective motion-isolating. It’s due there is a slower-moving memory foam near the top of all of these models, it does an excellent job of absorption of motion. These are among the most comfortable mattresses for couples available on the market.
Every Helix mattress had excellent edge support throughout the range. While sitting and sleeping on the edges of each model, we felt comfortable and safe.
The Helix mattresses are constructed with strong coils and high-density foams to ensure they’ll endure a long duration.
We noticed some off-gassing from all six Helix mattresses initially. The issue will be gone in a few days, in the event that it is not earlier.
We didn’t hear any distinct noise while moving about on any of these mattresses at the time we wrote our review. But, since each mattress has coils, it’s probable that they’ll begin to squeak as time passes.
When searching for a sex mattress, most individuals are worried about how easy it will be to move positions on the mattress. Because all of the Helix mattresses are made of coils, they should be flexible enough that you can move easily across any of them. The models that feature memory foam on their top layers (particularly, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) might make changing your position a bit more difficult because of their slow movement.
