Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You might have noticed that stiffness is already mentioned throughout this article. That’s because one of the most important aspects to think about when purchasing the best mattress is its firmness (and how firmness affects comfort). These aspects will reveal a lot about a mattress’s ability to accommodate your preferred sleep location (s). Let’s have a review of the firmness and feel of the Helix mattress range.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses come in a variety of hardness options, with the most soft being moderately soft and the most firm ones being moderately firm. Its Helix Sunset is on the softer end of the range We gave it a hardness rating at 5.5 out of 10 in the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 would be the industry standard for medium firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a 6/10 which means that it’s less firm than average. The Helix Midnight and Helix Dusk sit somewhere between the spectrum. Both of these mattresses received a rating of around 7/10, which is slightly more firm than the average. Helix Twilight and the Helix Twilight, as well as Helix Dawn are on the more difficult side of the spectrum, both getting the 7.5/10 score (firmer than the average).

It’s important to remember that the level of hardness is a matter of individual preference. In terms of the firmness, you could evaluate these mattresses in different ways based on your body weight and personal preferences. Heavier persons, for example might find them more firm as they can push further into the mattress and reach into the support layers. Meanwhile, lighter people may be surprised to find these mattresses softer since they are higher in the comfort layer of every bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on Helix mattresses for a lengthy period of time in order to gain a clear picture of what it’s like to sleep on each model in different positions. Take a peek at what we found!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Mattress SmartlessBecause of its softness, because of its softness, Helix Sunset didn’t feel nearly supportive enough for back sleeping. Our hips sank a little too far down into our mattress causing the spine to become misaligned.

Although the Helix Sunset’s gentleness isn’t ideal for back sleepers, it’s ideal for side sleepers. We felt very relaxed in this position as the soft mattress cushioned possible pressure areas around the hip and shoulder. It’s actually one of the most comfortable mattresses to relieve hip discomfort that we’ve found.

It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping because of its softness. Our hips fell too far into the mattress and pulled the back out of position, just as they did when we were back sleeping.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightAs a back sleeper in a back position, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not extraordinary. If you’re planning on sleeping in this position all night, you’ll probably require a mattress that provides additional support and helps maintain appropriate spinal alignment.

It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent choice for side sleeping because of its comfort. We didn’t feel any uncomfortable pressure around the hip or shoulder.

The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, isn’t sufficient for stomach sleep. Our hips were pushed too far to the bed, causing the spine to be out of alignment.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhen we lay down upon the Helix Midnight, we felt fantastic. We enjoyed a touch of pressure relief without sacrificing spinal alignment , thanks to the mattress’s good blend of comfort and support. It is the greatest mattress for those who sleep on their backs on this list.

Even though the Helix Midnight is firmer than it’s counterparts, the Helix Sunset and Moonlight We found it pleasant to sleep on our backs on this mattress. It offers adequate pressure relief on the hip and shoulder, in our opinion.

When we slept with our stomachs on the Helix Midnight, we felt well, but not super. If you sleep in this way throughout the night should consider a firmer mattress that provides greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than other models that we’ve tested. This could explain why we felt so good while resting upon our backs. We’re sure that we’ll be able to maintain proper spinal alignment all night due to the mattress’s supportive qualities.

It’s probably not surprising it is that Helix Dusk feels a little too soft for sleeping on your side considering that we’ve moved to the firmer end on the scale. We felt some pressure around the shoulder and hip that could cause significant discomfort if you were to sleep in this position all night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers who weigh around average because it will help in maintaining a proper spine alignment. However, heavier stomach sleepers may not receive enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the ideal bed for back pain. It’s the ideal mattress for back sleepers who require extra support due to weight gain or back pain, as well as other factors. The firmer construction of this mattress aids in keeping hips lifted and in alignment to the spinal column.

Since the Helix Twilight is on the firmer side We found it hard to sleep on our sides on the mattress. We felt like we were suffocated on the hips and shoulders.

The majority of stomach sleepers will find the Helix Twilight mattress to be a good one, as the mattress’s hardness will provide enough of spinal support for this type of position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who like mattresses that are firm will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s high level of support. However, those who prefer a little pressure alleviation while lying on their backs might find the mattress to be too firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too difficult to sleep on side, and you’ll end up with lots of pressure points around your shoulder and hip. One of the softer types will be considerably better for those who sleep on their sides.

The Helix Dawn Mattress is one of the most comfortable mattresses for stomach-sleepers, in our opinion. In the evening the firm and supportive mattress will keep your hips up and aligned in alignment with your spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses all have a hybrid composition with foam layered over coils. Despite these similarities, each model has its own distinct character.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a well-balanced foam feel. The comfort layer’s plushness encourages sleepers to relax and creates the feeling of a slow-moving.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy feeling, particularly when compared with the Sunset that is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight, like it’s predecessor, the Helix Sunset, has a balanced feel and a slower-moving upper layer. The Midnight is a bit more firm than the Sunset which allows sleepers to sink deeper into the top layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncey. This is due to the use high-performance foam on the upper layer and coils in the supporting layer.

It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, is characterized by a slower-moving top. It’s still a sturdy mattress even though the comfort layer is slightly more cushiony.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a bouncy, firm feel to it because of the use of dynamic foam (in the cushion layer) as well as coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

The Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support and pressure reduction) or the Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by average-weight back sleepers (which gives a firmer spinal support).

The Helix Midnight (if want a more firm feeling) or the soft and more pressure-reducing Helix Moonlight or Sunset is more likely for people who are average-weight side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are of moderate weight should consider the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

The Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for back sleepers who weigh a lot since it alleviates pressure while maintaining the alignment of the spine.

The softest models in the Helix range, such as the Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset are likely to provide adequate pressure relief for heavier side sleepers.

For stomach sleepers with heavy weights however are likely to move toward Helix Dawn. Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) for the best spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a wide range of options for light back sleepers. The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all have lots of support for the spine and various levels of pressure relief to suit different styles of sleeping.

Similar to the side sleepers that are lightweight, you can pick from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset, which should all offer adequate pressure relief, and allow users to adjust the level of hardness according to their requirements.

Finally, stomach sleepers will find that the Helix Twilight or Dawn to be the most supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

Regarding construction and construction methods, the majority of all of the Helix mattresses are constructed in the same way. They share the same cover and the foam comfort layers are laid over individual supports for coils.

All Helix mattresses, and in particular they have A SoftTouch Design cover that is elastic, soft, and air-tight. This design allows air to circulate freely throughout the top of the mattress. In addition, every Helix model is equipped with an additional layer of support made of individually wrapped coils that are stacked over a high-density base foam which gives the mattress it’s overall design and strength.

The similarities are not the only part. The comfort layers of these mattresses vary in thickness, stiffness, arrangement and the types of foam. Additional materials are also available on some versions. Let’s take a closer look!.

Helix Sunset

Its cushion of comfort is made up of pressure-relieving Memory Plus Foam, which gives you the slow-moving feeling that memory foam is renowned for. A transition layer composed of Helix Dynamic foam, a foam made of latex that’s larger, more bouncier, and more bolstering, sits underneath that Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Helix Sunset’s top layer of comfort is composed from Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s comfort layer and transition layer is made of Helix Dynamic Foam. It is a different latex-foam alternative and the numerous layers of this foam provide a lively feeling when compared to that of the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the main comfort layer in the Helix Midnight, and it provides pressure reduction and body shaping. A layer of transitional, high-grade polyfoam sits under the Memory Plus Foam. This layer is very responsive, which means that the mattress in general reacts faster to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The main comfort layer is made from Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s bouncy and receptive. A layer composed of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam layer. (Think of the Dusk’s structure as similar to that of that of the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam has been laid on top of Memory Plus Foam to create a bouncy, responsive surface, while Memory Plus Foam provides pressure relief as sleepers sink deeper into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

Helix Twilight, like the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above the dense, high-quality polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. The Memory Plus Foam adds some ease of use, but don’t be fooled: this is a firm mattress with only a little bounce.

Helix Dawn

Not to be left out The Helix Dawn has an Helix Dynamic Foam comfort layer layered over a high-quality, dense polyfoam layer transition layer. The result is a firm, bouncy, and supple sleep surface that has very minimal give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We put Helix mattresses through a series of tests. Helix mattresses through a series of tests to find out the performance of these mattresses in key areas like temperature regulation, motion transfer, edge support, and more. Continue reading to find out the results!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Do you feel hot or cold when sleeping? If you’re concerned about overheating, consider purchasing a LUXE version of your mattress.

Motion Transfer

As we have seen in our tests certain models are better than other models when it comes to keeping out any disturbances that might occur on the surface of the mattress. It was found that the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight provided the best motion isolation. That’s because they have a memory foam that is slower moving near the top of each of the models, which do great job at absorbing motion. These are some of the top mattresses for couples available on the market.

Edge Support

Each Helix mattress offered good edge support throughout the range. As we sat and fell asleep near the edges of every mattress, we felt secure.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are constructed with high-density foams and robust coils, ensuring that they will last for a long period of period of.

Off-Gassing

We did notice the off-gassing of all six Helix mattresses at first. This will go away in a few days, or perhaps sooner.

Noise

We didn’t notice any noticeable sound when moving around on any of these mattresses during the time we wrote our review. However, because each mattress has coils, it’s possible that they’ll begin to make noise over time.

Sex

When searching for a sex mattress, most people are worried about how easy it will be to shift places on their bed. Because all of the Helix mattresses feature coils, they must be flexible enough to allow you to move around easily on any of them. The models that feature memory foam on the upper layer (particularly, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) could make changing positions a little harder due to their slow motion.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night sleep trial and 10 years of mattress warranty are provided in every Helix mattress.
