Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You may have noticed that stiffness has already been discussed within this list. That’s because one of the most crucial elements to consider when shopping for a new mattress is the firmness (and how it affects comfort). These elements will reveal a lot about a mattress’s suitability for your chosen bed place (s). Let’s take a closer review of the quality and firmness in the Helix mattress collection.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses come in a wide range of options, with the softest being moderately soft and the firmest being fairly firm. The Helix Sunset is on the soft side of the spectrum; we evaluated it with a score that was 5.5 /10 on the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 is considered to be an industry standard for moderate firmness.) Helix Dusk is next. Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10 which means that it’s softer than normal. The Helix Midnight and Helix Dusk sit somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Both of these mattresses scored approximately a 7/10, which is a bit firmer than normal. Helix Twilight and the Helix Twilight, as well as Helix Dawn are on the firmer side of the spectrum with each receiving a 7.5/10 assessment (firmer than average).

It’s important to keep in mind that hardness is a personal preference. If you’re looking for the firmness, you could rate these mattresses differently depending on your body weight and personal preferences. People who are heavier, for instance could find the mattresses more firm as they can push further into the mattress and get to the support layers. However, those who are lighter may discover that these mattresses are softer since they are higher on the comfort level of every bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on the Helix mattress for a long time to get an idea of what it’s like to lie on the models in various positions. Take a peek at the results!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Mattress Return With StainsBecause of its softness, due to its softness, the Helix Sunset was not sufficient for back sleepers. The hips of ours sink a little too far in the bed, causing the spine to be misaligned.

While the Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t the best for back sleepers but it’s great for those who sleep on their sides. We felt very at ease in this position due to the mattress’s softness cushioned any pressure areas around the hip and shoulder. In actual fact, it’s one of the most comfortable mattresses for hip pain that we’ve found.

It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping because of its softness. Our hips fell too far into the mattress, pulling the spine out of alignment, just the way they did when were sleeping back to back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhile back sleeping, it was apparent that the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not extraordinary. If you’re planning to sleep in this position for the entire through the night, you’ll need a more firm mattress with more support and assists in maintaining appropriate spinal alignment.

It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping sideways because of its comfort. We didn’t feel any uncomfortable tension around the hip or shoulder.

It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, isn’t supportive enough for stomach sleeping. Our hips fell too deeply to the bed, which caused the spine to shift.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureAs we slept on the Helix Midnight and feeling fantastic, we were able to feel great. We experienced a bit of pressure relief, but without losing spinal alignment thanks to the mattress’s great balance of support and comfort. It is the greatest mattress for back sleepers that we have reviewed on this list.

Despite the fact that the Helix Midnight is firmer than it’s counterparts, the Helix Sunset as well as Moonlight We were able to rest comfortably on our backs on the mattress. It offers adequate pressure relief around the shoulder and hip, in our opinion.

As we lay on our stomachs in the Helix Midnight, we were well, but not super. Sleepers who are in this position throughout the night should consider a firmer mattress that provides more spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses we’ve tried, which could explain why we felt good while resting on our backs. We’re confident that we’ll have an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night due to the mattress’s supportive nature.

It’s probably not surprising that the Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for a side sleeper given that we’ve moved into the more firm end in the range. We felt some pressure around the hip and shoulder, which would definitely cause discomfort if you slept in this position all night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers with a normal weight, as it should assist in maintaining a proper spinal alignment. However, stomach sleepers who are heavier may not find sufficient support.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the ideal bed for back discomfort. It is ideal for those who require additional support owing to increased weight, back pain, or other factors. The firmer structure of this mattress assists in keeping hips lifted and in alignment with the spine.

Because this mattress Helix Twilight is on the firmer side We found it hard to lie on our backs on this mattress. We felt like we were suffocated on the shoulders and hips.

The majority of stomach sleepers will find the Helix Twilight to be a good one, as the mattress’s hardness will give enough spinal support in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who favor an extra firm mattress will love the Helix Dawn’s superior level of support. However, those who prefer a little pressure alleviation when lying back may likely find this mattress too firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too hard for side sleeping and you’ll end up having a lot of pressure points in your shoulder and hip. A softer model will be considerably better for sleepers who prefer side sleeping.

It is the Helix Dawn Mattress is one of the most comfortable mattress for stomach sleepers in our view. In the evening this supportive and firm mattress helps keep the hips elevated and in alignment with the spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses have a hybrid structure that has foam layers over coils. Despite these commonalities however, each Helix mattress has its own distinct individuality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a balanced foam feel. The comfort layer’s plushness encourages sleepers to feel comfortable and creates a slow-moving feel.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, gives a bouncy feeling, particularly when compared to the Sunset one, which is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight, like it’s predecessor, the Helix Sunset, has an even feel and smooth top layer that moves slowly. The Midnight is firmer than the Sunset, allowing sleepers to sink further into the top layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncey. This is due to the use of high-performance foam for the layer on top and coils in the supporting layer.

It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, features a slower-moving top. It’s still a solid mattress, with the comfort layer being a little more enveloping.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a firm, bouncy feel to it because to the use of foam that is dynamic (in the cushion layer) and coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

The Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support and pressure relief) or Helix Dusk (which combines pressure reduction and spinal support) or Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by back sleepers (which gives a firmer spinal support).

Sleeping on the Helix Late at Night (if want a slightly more spongy feeling) or the more comfortable and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight or Sunset is more likely for people who are average-weight side sleepers.

For stomach sleepers, those of moderate weight should prefer the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

The Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for back sleepers who weigh a lot since it alleviates tension while ensuring spinal alignment.

The softest models in the Helix range, like Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset are likely to provide adequate pressure relief for heavyweight side sleepers.

For stomach sleepers with heavy weights, on the other hand tend to go toward Helix Dawn. Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) for the best spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a wide range of options for light back sleepers: The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all provide plenty of spinal support and different levels of pressure relief to suit different styles of sleeping.

Similar to the side sleepers that are lightweight, you can pick from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset, which should all provide adequate pressure relief and allow users to adjust the hardness level to their requirements.

Finally, stomach sleepers will find that the Helix Twilight, or Dawn as the most comfortable.

Helix Mattresses Construction

As far as construction is concerned, each of all of the Helix mattresses are constructed the same manner: They share the same cover and the foam comfort layers are laid over individual wrapped coil support layers.

The majority of Helix mattresses, including they have the SoftTouch Design cover that is soft, elastic, and air-tight. This design allows air to circulate freely throughout the mattress’s top. In addition, every Helix model is equipped with an additional layer of support made of coils individually wrapped and stacked on top of a base foam with a high density that gives the mattress its overall structure and strength.

The similarities stop there for the most part. The comfort layers of these mattresses differ in their density, stiffness, placement and the types of foam. Additional materials are also offered on certain versions. Let’s have a look at it more closely!.

Helix Sunset

Its cushion of comfort is made up of pressure-reducing Memory Plus Foam, which offers the slower-moving feel which memory foam has become known for. The transition layer is made comprised of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s more firm, bouncier and more supportive, is placed under that Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Sunset’s comfort layer is composed out of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s main comfort layer and transition layer are made from Helix’s Dynamic Foam. It is a different latex-foam alternative with multiple layers of this foam provide a lively feeling when compared to that of the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the primary comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it helps reduce pressure and body shaping. A transition layer of dense, high-grade polyfoam sits under the Memory Plus Foam. This layer is quite flexible, meaning that the mattress as a whole responds more quickly to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The main comfort layer is constructed from Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s soft and responsive. A layer of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think of the Dusk’s construction as being identical to that in Helix Sunset’s construction. Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam can be layered over Memory Plus Foam to create a bouncy, responsive surface, while Memory Plus Foam helps relieve pressure when sleepers lie down on the mattress.

Helix Twilight

It’s the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above a dense, high-grade polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. Its Memory Plus Foam adds some comfort, but don’t be deceived by this being a mattress that is firm with very only a little bounce.

Helix Dawn

Not to be left out, the Helix Dawn comes with a Helix Comfort Layer made of Dynamic Foam layered over a high-quality, dense polyfoam transition layer. This combination produces a firm, bouncy, and supple sleep surface that has very little give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We tested our Helix mattresses through a series of tests to find out how well they performed in key areas like temperature regulation as well as edge support, motion transfer and many more. Keep reading to find out how they fared!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Do you feel hot or cold when sleeping? If you’re still concerned about your mattress being too hot, you might want to consider buying a LUXE version of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

As we have seen in our tests, some models outperform other models when it comes to keeping out any disturbances that might occur on the mattress’s surface. It was found that the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight provided the best motion-isolating. This is due to the slower-moving memory foam near the top of each of the models, which does well at absorption of motion. These are the top mattresses for couples on the market.

Edge Support

Each Helix mattress offered good edge support throughout the range. As we sat and fell asleep on the edges of each mattress, we felt secure.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are manufactured with high-density foams as well as sturdy coils which ensure that they can last for a long period of.

Off-Gassing

We did notice some off-gassing from all six Helix mattresses at first. It will disappear in a few days, in the event that it is not earlier.

Noise

There was no noticeable sound when moving around on one of these mattresses during the time we wrote our review. However, because each mattress has coils, it’s possible that they’ll begin to make noise over time.

Sex

When searching for a sex mattress, a majority of people are worried about how easy it is to change places on their mattress. Because all of the Helix mattresses feature coils, they are responsive enough to let you move around with ease on all of them. The models that have memory foam on the top layer (particularly the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) could make changing positions a little more difficult due to their slow movement.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night trial period of sleep as well as a 10-year mattress guarantee are provided in every Helix mattress.
