This included mattresses with two different designs on each side to accommodate people with different preferences for sleeping. While the firm has recently reduced its custom products, it remains dedicated to providing a wide variety of sleeping options.
Helix currently offers six mattresses that are hybrid in its lineup, each with a different softness level and hardness. Here’s a look at who’s most likely to be sleeping on one of these beds (and who might not).
Who Might Like the Helix Mattresses?
- People who have a hot bed and require an airy mattress
- People who require a large number of options to choose from
Who Might Not Like the Helix Mattresses?

- Those who do not want or desire coil support

Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel
It’s likely that stiffness was already mentioned within this list. This is because one of the most important factors to take into consideration when purchasing a new mattress is the firmness (and how firmness affects the comfort). These elements will reveal the bed’s suitableness for your bed location (s). Let’s take a closer look at the comfort and firmness of the Helix mattress range.
What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?
The Helix mattresses come in a range of different hardness options, with the most soft being moderately soft and the most firm ones being moderately firm. The Helix Sunset is on the lower end of the scale We gave it a hardness rating that was 5.5 out of 10 on the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 would be the industry standard for medium firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10 which means that it’s softer than normal. Helix Dusk and the Helix Midnight, as well as Helix Dusk are between the spectrum. Both of these mattresses scored approximately a 7/10, which is a bit firmer than normal. Helix Twilight and the Helix Twilight as well as the Helix Dawn are on the firmer side of the spectrum with both getting a 7.5/10 score (firmer than average).
It is important to keep in mind that hardness is a personal preference. If you’re looking for firmness, you may evaluate these mattresses in different ways based on your body weight and your personal preferences. Heavier persons, for example, may find these mattresses firmer since they can press further into the mattress and get to the support layers. On the other hand, people who weigh less find that these mattresses are softer since they are higher on the comfort level of each bed(s).
Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses
We slept on the Helix beds for an long period of time in order to gain a clear picture of what it’s like rest on each model in various positions. Check out what we discovered!
Helix Sunset Mattress
Due to its softness due to its softness, the Helix Sunset was not supportive enough for back sleeping. The hips of ours sink a little too deeply in the bed, which caused the spine to be misaligned.
While the Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for those who sleep on their backs but it’s great for those who sleep on their sides. We felt very at ease in this position due to the soft mattress cushioned possible stress points around the shoulder and hip. It’s actually one of the best mattresses to relieve hip discomfort we’ve seen.
It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach-sleeping due of its softness. Our hips fell too far into the mattress which pulled our back out of position, just as they did when we were asleep back.
Helix Moonlight Mattress
While back sleeping in a back position, back sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not exceptional. If you’re planning on sleeping in this position for the duration of the night, you’ll almost certainly need a more firm mattress that offers more support and assists in maintaining the proper alignment of your spine.
The Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping sideways because of its comfort. There was no unwelcome tension around the hips or shoulders.
The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping. Our hips sank too deeply to the bed, which caused the spine to shift.
Helix Midnight Mattress
When we lay down on the Helix Midnight We felt amazing. We enjoyed a touch of pressure relief, but without losing spinal alignment thanks to the mattress’s good combination of support and comfort. It’s the best mattress for those who sleep on their backs on this list.
Despite the fact that the Helix Midnight is firmer in comparison to it’s counterparts, the Helix Sunset as well as Moonlight, we discovered it to be comfortable to sleep on our sides on the mattress. It offers adequate pressure relief between the hip and shoulder, in our opinion.
While stomach sleeping on the Helix Midnight, we were good but not great. If you sleep in this way all night should look for a firmer mattress that provides more spinal support.
Helix Dusk Mattress
It’s the Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses we’ve tried, which could be the reason we felt so comfortable while lying upon our backs. We’re sure that we’ll be able to maintain good spinal alignment throughout the night thanks to the mattress’s suppleness.
It’s likely not a surprise that the Helix Dusk feels a little too soft for sleeping on your side considering that we’ve moved to the more firm end in the range. We noticed some pressure on the hip and shoulder area, which would definitely cause significant discomfort if you were to sleep in this position all night.
The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers with a normal weight since it can help in maintaining a proper spinal alignment. However, stomach sleepers who are heavier might not get sufficient support in this model.
Helix Twilight Mattress
The Helix Twilight was proved to be the best mattress for back discomfort. It is ideal for those who require more support due to increased weight, back pain, or other reasons. The more firm construction of this mattress helps in keeping the hips elevated and properly aligned to the spinal column.
Because it is the case that Helix Twilight is more firm than the average mattress We found it hard to sleep on our sides on the mattress. We felt like we were suffocated on the hips and shoulders.
For most stomach sleepers, the Helix Twilight mattress to be an ideal one, as the mattress’s firmness should provide enough of spinal support in this position.
Helix Dawn Mattress
Back sleepers who prefer an extra firm mattress will love the high degree of support. However, those who like a little pressure alleviation when resting on their backs might find the mattress to be excessively firm.
The Helix Dawn is far too difficult to sleep on side and you’ll be left with a lot of pressure points in your shoulder and hip. One of the softer types is much better for side sleepers.
It is the Helix Dawn is the best mattress designed for stomach sleepers, in our opinion. Through the night, this firm and supportive mattress keeps the hips raised and aligned with the spine.
What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?
Helix mattresses have a hybrid structure that has foam layers over coils. Despite these commonalities, each Helix mattress has its own distinct individuality.
The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a balanced foam feel. The comfort layer’s plushness encourages sleepers to relax and gives the mattress an elongated feel.
The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy feeling, particularly when compared with the Sunset one, which is more sensitive.
The Helix Midnight similar to it’s predecessor, the Helix Sunset, offers a smooth, even texture and slower-moving upper layer. The Midnight is firmer than the Sunset, allowing sleepers to sink deeper down into the layer above.
The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is due to the use active foam for the layer on top as well as coils in the support layer.
The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, has a more sluggish top. This is still a firm mattress, despite the comfort layer being slightly more cushiony.
The Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a soft, firm and bouncy feel it because of the use of foam that is dynamic (in the comfort layer) along with coils (in the support layer).
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs
Helix Midnight (which is a combination of pressure reduction and spinal support) or the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support with pressure reduction) and The Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by average-weight back sleepers (which provides a more firmer spine support).
The Helix Late at Night (if you prefer a slightly more spongy feeling) or the more comfortable and more pressure-reducing Helix Moonlight or Sunset is the most likely option for average-weight side sleepers.
The stomach sleepers who are with a moderate weight should choose the supportive Helix Twilight or Dawn.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs
It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for back sleepers who weigh a lot since it alleviates tension while ensuring the alignment of the spine.
The most soft models of the Helix range, such as the Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset will provide enough pressure relief for heavier side sleepers.
The stomach sleepers who are heavy, on the other hand, will most likely go toward Helix Dawn. Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection) to ensure proper spinal support.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs
There should be a wide range of types available for lightweight back sleepers. The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all offer plenty of support for the spine and various levels of pressure relief to suit different styles of sleeping.
Similarly, lightweight side sleepers can choose from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset, which should all provide adequate pressure relief and allow users to adjust the level of hardness to suit their requirements.
Finally stomach sleepers will appreciate that the Helix Twilight and Dawn for the best supportive.
Helix Mattresses Construction
In terms of construction, all of the Helix mattresses are constructed in the same way: They share the same cover, and the same foam comfort layers are laid over individually wrapped the coils to support them.
All Helix mattresses, including they have A SoftTouch Design cover that is flexible, soft and breathable. This design allows air to circulate freely through the mattress’s top. In addition, every Helix model is equipped with an extra layer of support that is made of individually wrapped coils that are stacked on top of a base foam with a high density that gives the mattress the overall shape and stability.
The similarities are not the only part. The cushions’ comfort layers differ in their thickness, stiffness, arrangement, and types of foam. There are additional materials offered on certain versions. Let’s look at it more closely!.
The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made of pressure-reducing Memory Plus Foam, which provides the slow-moving, comfortable feel that memory foam is renowned for. The transition layer is made of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s more firm, bouncier and more supportive, is placed beneath memory Plus Foam.
While the Sunset’s comfort layer is made of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s comfort layer and transition layer is made of the Helix Dynamic Foam. This is yet another latex-foam choice, and the multiple layers of this dynamic foam gives it a buoyant feel when compared with the Helix Sunset.
Memory Plus Foam is the principal comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it helps reduce pressure and body shaping. A layer of transitional, high-grade polyfoam sits underneath the Memory Plus Foam. The layer is extremely responsive, which means that the mattress overall responds more quickly to pressure.
The main comfort layer is made up from Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s soft and receptive. A layer of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam layer. (Think about the Dusk’s structure as similar to that of the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam is placed on top of Memory Plus Foam to produce a bouncy, responsive surface, while Memory Plus Foam helps relieve pressure when sleepers lie down on the mattress.
The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above the dense, high-quality polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. Its Memory Plus Foam adds some comfort, but don’t be deceived by this being a firm mattress with less give.
Then, last but not least last but not least, the Helix Dawn comes with an Helix Dynamic Foam comfort layer, which is sandwiched over a dense, high-grade polyfoam transition layer. The result is an extremely firm, bouncey, and responsive sleep surface with very little bounce.

Helix Mattresses Performance
We tested the Helix mattresses to a set of tests to determine how well they performed in key areas such as temperature regulation and motion transfer, edge support and more. Keep reading to find out how they fared!
Sleeping Hot or Cold
Do you feel hot or cold when sleeping? If you’re worried about overheating, consider purchasing a LUXE version of your mattress.
As we have seen in our tests, some models outperform other models when it comes to minimizing disturbances over the surface of the mattress. It was found that the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight have the highest level of motion-isolating. It’s due they have a memory foam that is slower moving at the top of each of the models, it does an excellent job of blocking motion. These are the best mattresses for couples that are available on the market.
Every Helix mattress offered good edge support across the board. While sitting and sleeping near the edges of every model, we felt safe.
The Helix mattresses are made from strong coils and high-density foams to ensure they’ll endure a long time.
We did notice some off-gassing from all six Helix mattresses in the beginning. The issue will be gone within a couple of days or perhaps sooner.
We didn’t notice any noticeable sound when moving around on the mattresses during the time we wrote our review. But, since each mattress has coils, it’s possible that they’ll begin to squeak with time.
When looking for a sex mattress, most individuals are worried about how easy it will be to move positions on the bed. Because all of the Helix mattresses have coils, they should be flexible enough to let you move around with ease on all of them. The models that have memory foam on their top layers (particularly the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) could make changing positions more difficult due to their slow motion.
