Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

It’s likely that stiffness was already discussed throughout this article. This is because one of the most important aspects to think about when buying for the best mattress is its firmness (and how it affects comfort). These aspects will reveal the bed’s suitableness for your sleep location (s). Let’s take a closer look at the comfort and firmness in the Helix mattress collection.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses are available in a range of different hardness options, with the most soft being moderately soft, and the most firm being quite firm. The Helix Sunset is on the softer end of the range; we gave it a hardness rating of 5.5 out of 10 on the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 would be the industry standard for medium firmness.) Helix Dusk is next. Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10 which means that it’s more soft than the norm. Helix Dusk and the Helix Midnight, as well as Helix Dusk are between the spectrum. Both of these mattresses have a score of 7/10, which is slightly firmer than normal. Helix Twilight and the Helix Twilight, as well as Helix Dawn are on the firmer side of the spectrum, both getting the 7.5/10 assessment (firmer than the average).

It is important to be aware that the level of hardness is a matter of individual preference. If you’re looking for the firmness, you could assess these mattresses differently based on your body weight and your personal preferences. People who are heavier, for instance, may find these mattresses firmer since they can press further into the mattress to reach into the support layers. However, those who are lighter may find that these mattresses are less firm due to the fact that they are located higher within the comfortable layer every bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on Helix beds for an lengthy period of time in order to gain a clear picture of what it’s like rest on each model in various positions. Have a look at what we discovered!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Mattress Podcast CodeDue to its softness the Helix Sunset wasn’t supportive enough for back sleeping. Our hips were a bit too deep down into our mattress which caused the spine to shift.

Although the Helix Sunset’s gentleness isn’t the best for back sleepers, it’s ideal for side sleepers. We were very at ease in this position due to the mattress’s softness helped cushion any tension points in the hip and shoulder. It’s actually one of the best mattresses for hip discomfort that we’ve come across.

It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping because of its softness. Our hips sank too deeply into the mattress which pulled our spine out of alignment, exactly like they did when we were asleep back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightAs a back sleeper in a back position, it was apparent that the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not exceptional. If you’re planning on sleeping in this position for the duration of the night, you’ll probably require a mattress that provides extra support and aids in maintaining the proper alignment of your spine.

It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent choice for side sleeping because of its comfort. We didn’t feel any unwelcome pressure on the shoulder or hip.

It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not adequate for stomach-sleeping. Our hips sank too deeply into the mattress, which caused the spine to shift.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhile resting in the Helix Midnight We felt amazing. We felt a little pressure alleviation without sacrificing spinal alignment thanks to the mattress’s great combination of support and comfort. It is the greatest mattress for those who sleep on their backs on this list.

Even though the Helix Midnight mattress is firmer in comparison to it’s counterparts, the Helix Sunset or Moonlight We discovered it to be comfortable to sleep on our sides on this mattress. It offers adequate pressure relief on the hip and shoulder, in our opinion.

When we slept with our stomachs on the Helix Midnight, we were good but not great. Sleepers who are in this position all night long should look for a firmer mattress that provides greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses we’ve tried, which could be the reason we felt so good while resting upon our backs. We’re certain that we’ll enjoy an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night due to the mattress’s supportive nature.

It’s likely not a surprise to find that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for a side sleeper since we’ve shifted to the more firm end of the spectrum. We noticed some pressure on the hip and shoulder that would cause discomfort if you slept in this position all night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers of average weight because it will help in maintaining a proper spine alignment. However, stomach sleepers who are heavier might not get sufficient support in this model.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the greatest bed for back discomfort. It’s the ideal mattress for back sleepers who require additional support owing to increased weight, back pain, or other factors. The more firm construction of this mattress aids in keeping hips lifted and aligned in alignment with spine.

Since this mattress Helix Twilight is slightly firmer than other mattresses It was difficult to sleep on our sides on the mattress. We felt like we were suffocated on the hips and shoulders.

The majority of stomach sleepers will find the Helix Twilight mattress to be a good choice, as the mattress’ hardness should provide enough of spinal support in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who favor mattresses that are firm will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s superior level of support. However, those who like an occasional relief from pressure while lying on their backs may likely find this mattress to be excessively firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too difficult to sleep on side and you’ll end up having a lot of pressure points on your hip and shoulder. A softer model is much better for sleepers who prefer side sleeping.

It is the Helix Dawn mattress is considered to be the most comfortable mattresses for stomach-sleepers in our opinion. In the evening the firm and supportive mattress keeps the hips raised and aligned with the spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses are all hybrid design that incorporates foam over coils. Despite these similarities every model has its own distinct individuality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a well-balanced foam feel. The comfort layer’s plushness encourages sleepers to sink in and creates the feeling of a slow-moving.

It is worth noting that the Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy sensation, especially when contrasted with the Sunset that is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight similar to Helix Sunset, like Helix Sunset, is a smooth, even texture and smooth top layer that moves slowly. The Midnight is a bit more firm than the Sunset which allows sleepers to sink a little more deeply down into the layer above.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is because of the use of high-performance foam for the layer on top, and coils in the layer supporting it.

It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, is characterized by a slower-moving top. This is still a firm mattress, even though the comfort layer is a little more enveloping.

The Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a firm, bouncy feel to it because to the use of foam that is dynamic (in the comfort layer) along with coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

It is the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support and pressure reduction) or the Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by average-weight back sleepers (which provides a more firmer spine support).

The Helix Late at Night (if your preference is a slightly more spongy feeling) or the soft and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight (or Sunset) is more likely for average-weight side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are of moderate weight should consider the supportive Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for back sleepers who weigh a lot because it eases tension while ensuring spinal alignment.

The most soft models of the Helix range, like Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset, should provide sufficient of pressure relief for heavier side sleepers.

For stomach sleepers with heavy weights, on the other hand tend to go to the Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) to ensure proper spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There ought to be a range of models for light back sleepers: The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all offer plenty of support for the spine and various degrees of pressure relief to accommodate different sleeping styles.

Similar to the side sleepers that are lightweight, you can pick from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset and should give adequate pressure relief with the ability to alter the hardness level to their needs.

Finally stomach sleepers will appreciate that the Helix Twilight and Dawn for the best supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

As far as construction is concerned, each Helix mattresses are constructed in the same way. Helix mattresses are built in the same way: They share the same cover and foam comfort layers are laid over individual coil support layers.

All Helix mattresses, and in particular the newest models, come with A SoftTouch Design cover that is flexible, soft and air-tight. The design lets air circulate freely throughout the top of the mattress. Meanwhile, each Helix model has an additional layer of support made of individually wrapped coils stacked over a dense base foam which gives the mattress it’s overall design and stability.

The similarities stop there for the most part. The comfort layers of these mattresses differ in their density, stiffness, placement, and types of foam. Other materials are offered on certain versions. Let’s look at it more closely!.

Helix Sunset

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made up of pressure-reducing Memory Plus Foam, which offers the slower-moving feel which memory foam has become renowned for. A layer of transition made up of Helix Dynamic foam, a foam made of latex that’s larger, more bouncier, and more bolstering, sits beneath that Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

The Helix Sunset’s top layer of comfort is composed out of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s main comfort layer and transition layer is made of the Helix Dynamic Foam. This is yet another latex-foam choice with multiple layers of this foam gives it a buoyant feel when compared with the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the main comfort layer in the Helix Midnight, and it offers pressure reduction as well as body shaping. A transition layer of thick high-quality polyfoam is placed underneath the Memory Plus Foam. This layer is very responsive, implying that the mattress overall responds to pressure more quickly.

Helix Dusk

The Helix Dusk’s primary comfort layer is made out of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s bouncy and responsive. A layer composed of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think about the Dusk’s design as similar to that in Helix Sunset’s construction. Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam can be placed over Memory Plus Foam to create a lively, responsive surface, while Memory Plus Foam provides pressure relief when sleepers lie down on the mattress.

Helix Twilight

Helix Twilight, like the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above an extremely dense and high-grade polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. The Memory Plus Foam adds some convenience, but don’t get deceived by this being an extremely firm mattress that has very only a little bounce.

Helix Dawn

Last but not least last but not least, the Helix Dawn features an Helix Dynamic Foam comfort layer layered over a high-quality, dense polyfoam layer transition layer. This combination produces a soft, bouncy and supple sleep surface that has very little bounce.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We put our Helix mattresses through a series of tests to see the performance of these mattresses in key areas including temperature control as well as edge support, motion transfer, and other areas. Keep reading to find out what they did!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Do you feel hot or cold when sleeping? If you’re worried about the possibility of overheating, think about purchasing a LUXE version of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

As we have seen in our tests that some mattresses outperform others in minimizing disturbances over the mattress’s surface. For instance, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight offered the most effective motion-isolating. That’s because they have a memory foam that is slower moving at the top of each of the models, which does an excellent job of absorbing motion. These are the best mattresses for couples on the market.

Edge Support

Every Helix mattress had excellent edge support throughout the range. As we sat and fell asleep at the edge of each model, we felt safe.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are manufactured with high-density foams and robust coils to ensure they’ll last for a long duration.

Off-Gassing

We did notice the off-gassing of the six Helix mattresses at first. The issue will be gone within a couple of days if not sooner.

Noise

We didn’t hear any distinct noise while moving about on any of these mattresses during the time we wrote our review. Since all of them have coils, it’s probable that they’ll begin to make noise with time.

Sex

If you are looking for a sexual mattress, a majority of people are concerned about how easy it will be to move places on their mattress. Since all Helix mattresses have coils, they should be sufficient to let you move around with ease on each. The models with memory foam in their top layers (particularly, those that have memory foam in the top layer (such as Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) could make changing positions harder due to their slower motion.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night trial of sleep and a 10-year mattress guarantee are included with every Helix mattress.
