Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You might have noticed that stiffness is already mentioned throughout this article. It’s because one of most important factors to take into consideration when purchasing the best mattress is its firmness (and how firmness affects the comfort). These aspects will reveal a lot about a mattress’s suitability for your chosen bed location (s). Let’s have a look at the comfort and firmness that comes with the Helix mattress series.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses come in a wide range of options, with the most soft being moderately soft, and the most firm being quite firm. Its Helix Sunset is on the soft side of the spectrum and we gave it a hardness rating at 5.5 out of 10 in the firmness scale. (A 6.5/10 would be the industry standard for medium firmness.) Its Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10 that means it’s less firm than average. The Helix Midnight, as well as Helix Dusk fall somewhere between the spectrum. Both mattresses received a rating of around 7/10, which is a bit firmer than normal. They are Helix Twilight as well as the Helix Dawn are at the harder end of the spectrum with each receiving the 7.5/10 assessment (firmer than average).

It’s crucial to keep in mind that the degree of firmness is a personal preference. In terms of the firmness of the mattress, you can rate these mattresses differently depending on your body weight and your personal preferences. For instance, heavier people might find them more firm because they are able to press further into the mattress to get to the support layers. However, those who are lighter may find that these mattresses are more supple due to their position on the comfort level of each bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on Helix beds for an long period of time in order to gain a clear picture of what it’s like sleep on each model in various positions. Check out the results!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Mattress Harvey VictimDue to its softness, due to its softness, the Helix Sunset was not comfortable enough to be a good back sleeper. Our hips sank a little too far down into our mattress causing the spine to become misaligned.

Although the Helix Sunset’s gentleness isn’t ideal for back sleepers It’s perfect for side sleepers. We were very at ease in this position due to the mattress’s softness cushioned any tension points in the shoulder and hip. In actual fact, it’s one of the greatest mattresses for hip pain we’ve seen.

The Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleep due of its softness. Our hips sank too deeply into the mattress which pulled our spinal column out of its alignment, just the way they did when were sleeping back to back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightAs a back sleeper in a back position, back sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not outstanding. If you plan on sleeping in this position all night, you’ll almost certainly require a mattress with extra support and aids in maintaining an appropriate spine alignment.

The Helix Moonlight is an excellent choice for side sleeping due to its softness. There was no unwelcome tension around the shoulder or hip.

The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not sufficient for stomach sleep. Our hips were pushed too far into the mattress, leading the spine to shift.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureAs we slept on the Helix Midnight We felt amazing. We felt a little pressure relief, but without losing spinal alignment , thanks to the mattress’s good balance of support and comfort. It’s the best mattress for back sleepers that we have reviewed on this list.

Despite the fact that the Helix Midnight mattress is firmer in comparison to it’s counterparts, the Helix Sunset and Moonlight, we were able to rest comfortably on our sides on this mattress. It is a good pressure-relief mattress around the shoulder and hip in our opinion.

When we slept with our stomachs on the Helix Midnight, we felt good but not great. People who sleep in this way throughout the night should consider mattresses that are firmer and provide more spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than other models we’ve tried, which could be the reason we felt so comfortable while lying in our backs. We’re certain that we’ll enjoy good spinal alignment throughout the night due to the mattress’s suppleness.

It’s not surprising that the Helix Dusk feels a little too soft for sleeping on your side since we’ve shifted to the firmer side of the spectrum. There was some discomfort around the shoulder and hip, which would definitely create a lot of discomfort if you slept in this position for a long time.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers of average weight, as it should assist in maintaining a proper spinal alignment. However, heavier stomach sleepers might not get sufficient support.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the ideal bed for back pain. It’s the ideal mattress for back sleepers who require extra support due to weight gain or back pain, as well as other reasons. The firmer structure of this mattress helps in keeping the hips lifted and in alignment with the spine.

Because this mattress Helix Twilight is more firm than the average mattress We found it hard to lie on our backs on this mattress. We felt like we were suffocated on the shoulders and hips.

Most stomach sleepers should find the Helix Twilight mattress to be an ideal one, as the mattress’s hardness will offer enough support to the spine in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who like mattresses that are firm will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s superior level of support. However, those who prefer a little pressure alleviation when resting on their backs might find the mattress too firm.

It’s the Helix Dawn is far too hard to be used for sleeping on your side and you’ll end up with a lot of pressure points on your hips and shoulders. One of the softer types is much better for side sleepers.

It is the Helix Dawn is the most comfortable mattresses for stomach-sleepers, in our opinion. In the evening, this firm and supportive mattress helps keep the hips elevated and aligned with the spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses all have a hybrid design that incorporates foam over coils. Despite these commonalities, each Helix mattress has its own distinct individuality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a balanced foam feel. The comfort layer’s plushness encourages sleepers to sink in and provides the mattress with the feeling of a slow-moving.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, offers a lively sensation, particularly when compared with the Sunset one, which is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight is, just like Helix Sunset, like Helix Sunset, is an even feel and slow-moving top layer. The Midnight is firmer than the Sunset, allowing sleepers to sink a little further in the upper layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is because of the use of active foam for the layer on top, and coils in the supporting layer.

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, has a more sluggish top. This is still a firm mattress, with the comfort layer being a little more enveloping.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a soft, firm and bouncy feel it because to the use of dynamic foam (in the layer of comfort) and coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

The Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support with pressure reduction) as well as the Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by back sleepers (which offers firmer spinal support).

The Helix Midnight (if your preference is a slightly harder sensation) or the more comfortable and more pressure-reducing Helix Moonlight or Sunset is the most likely option for average-weight side sleepers.

Finally, stomach sleepers of moderate weight should prefer the supportive Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for back sleepers who weigh a lot, as it relieves tension while ensuring the alignment of the spine.

The softest models in the Helix range, such as the Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset are likely to provide adequate pressure relief for heavyweight side sleepers.

Heavyweight stomach sleepers, on the other hand are likely to move toward Helix Dawn. Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) to ensure proper spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a variety of types available for lightweight back sleepers. The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all provide plenty of spinal support and different levels of pressure relief to accommodate different sleeping styles.

Similarly, lightweight side sleepers can pick from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset and should provide adequate pressure relief with the ability to alter the level of hardness to suit their preferences.

Finally stomach sleepers will appreciate the Helix Twilight or Dawn for the best supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

As far as construction is concerned, each of all of the Helix mattresses are constructed in the same way. They share the same cover and foam comfort layers are placed over individually wrapped supports for coils.

The majority of Helix mattresses, in particular, have A SoftTouch Design cover that is soft, elastic, and air-tight. This allows air to circulate freely throughout the top of the mattress. Meanwhile, each Helix model has an extra layer of support that is made of individually wrapped coils that are stacked on top of a base foam with a high density which provides the mattress with it’s overall design and support.

The similarities are not the only part. The cushions’ comfort layers differ in the density, stiffness, placement, and types of foam. There are additional materials available in certain models. Let’s take a look at it more closely!.

Helix Sunset

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is comprised of pressure-reducing Memory Plus Foam, which offers the slower-moving feel which memory foam has become famous for. The transition layer is made comprised of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s a bit larger, more bouncier, and more supporting, sits under that Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

The Helix Sunset’s top layer of comfort is made out of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s comfort layer and transition layer are made from the Helix Dynamic Foam. This is yet another latex-foam choice, and the multiple layers of this foam gives it a buoyant feeling when compared to that of the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the principal comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it offers pressure reduction as well as body shaping. A transition layer of dense high-quality polyfoam lies beneath it. Memory Plus Foam. This layer is quite flexible, meaning that the mattress overall responds more quickly to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The main comfort layer is made of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s soft and responsive. A layer composed of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think of the Dusk’s structure as being identical to that in the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam is placed on top of Memory Plus Foam to create a bouncy smooth surface. Memory Plus Foam offers pressure relief as sleepers sink into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above the dense, high-quality polyfoam transition layer. Its Memory Plus Foam adds some convenience, but don’t get taken in by the appearance: this is a mattress that is firm with very less give.

Helix Dawn

Last but not least The Helix Dawn comes with a Helix Dynamic Foam comfort layer that is layered over a dense, high-grade polyfoam transition layer. The result is a firm, bouncy, and comfortable sleep surface with very little bounce.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We put the Helix mattresses through a set of tests to find out the performance of these mattresses in key areas including temperature regulation, motion transfer, edge support and other areas. Keep reading to find out what they did!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Are you sleeping hot or cold? If you’re concerned about overheating, consider purchasing a LUXE model of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

As we have seen in our tests, some models outperform others in keeping out any disturbances that might occur on your mattress’s top. The Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight have the highest level of motion-seclusion. It’s due they have a memory foam that is slower moving close to the top of each of these models, which do an excellent job of absorbing motion. These are the most comfortable mattresses for couples available on the market.

Edge Support

Each Helix mattress had good edge support across all models. As we sat and fell asleep near the edges of every model, we felt safe.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are constructed with strong coils and high-density foams which ensure that they can endure a long period of.

Off-Gassing

We did notice some off-gassing from all six Helix mattresses initially. It will disappear in a few days, or perhaps sooner.

Noise

We didn’t notice any noticeable noise when we moved around on one of these mattresses during the time we wrote our test. Since all of them have coils, it’s probable that they’ll begin to squeak with time.

Sex

When searching for a sex mattress, most people are worried about how easy it will be to move places on their bed. Since all Helix mattresses feature coils, they should be flexible enough that you can move easily across any of them. The models that have memory foam in the top layer (particularly, those that have memory foam in the top layer (such as Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) could make changing positions more difficult because of their slower movement.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year mattress guarantee are provided with each Helix mattress.
