Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You may have noticed that stiffness has already been discussed within this list. That’s because one of the most crucial elements to consider when purchasing a new mattress is the firmness (and how it affects comfort). These factors will tell you a lot about a mattress’s suitableness for your sleeping location (s). Let’s take a closer review of the firmness and feel in the Helix mattress series.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses come in a range of different hardness choices, with the softer being moderately soft and the firmest being fairly firm. Helix Sunset Helix Sunset is on the lower end of the scale and we evaluated it with a score that was 5.5 out of 10 in the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 would be the standard industry norm for medium firmness.) Helix Dusk is next. Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10 which means that it’s softer than normal. The Helix Midnight and Helix Dusk sit somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Both of these mattresses have a score of 7/10, which is slightly more firm than the average. Helix Twilight and the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn are on the firmer side of the spectrum, with both receiving an 7.5/10 score (firmer than the average).

It’s crucial to be aware that the level of hardness is a matter of personal preference. When it comes to the firmness of the mattress, you can evaluate these mattresses in different ways based on your body weight and personal preferences. For instance, heavier people, may find these mattresses firmer since they can press further into the mattress and reach the support layers. On the other hand, people who weigh less be surprised to find these mattresses more supple due to their position within the comfortable layer each bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on the Helix mattresses for a lengthy period of time in order to gain an idea of what it’s like sleep on each model in different positions. Check out what we discovered!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Mattress Full SizeDue to its softness, because of its softness, Helix Sunset was not supportive enough for back sleeping. Our hips were a bit too far in the bed, which caused the spine to shift.

Although the Helix Sunset’s gentleness isn’t the best for back sleepers, it’s ideal for those who sleep on their sides. We felt very at ease in this position due to the mattress’s softness cushioned any stress points around the hip and shoulder. In actual fact, it’s one of the most comfortable mattresses to relieve hip discomfort that we’ve found.

It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping because to its softness. Our hips were too deep into the mattress and pulled the spine out of alignment just like they did when we were sleeping back to back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhen reclining in a back position, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not outstanding. If you plan on sleeping in this position all night, you’ll probably want a firmer mattress that provides additional support and helps maintain the proper alignment of your spine.

The Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping sideways because of its comfort. We didn’t feel any uncomfortable tension around the shoulder or hip.

It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping. Our hips were pushed too far to the bed, leading the spine to misalign.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhen we lay down upon the Helix Midnight We felt amazing. We experienced a bit of pressure relief without sacrificing spine alignment due to the mattress’s good blend of comfort and support. It is the greatest mattress for back sleepers on this list.

Despite the fact that the Helix Midnight mattress is firmer that it’s counterparts, the Helix Sunset or Moonlight, we discovered it to be comfortable to sleep on our sides on this mattress. It provides adequate pressure alleviation between the hip and shoulder in our opinion.

As we lay on our stomachs in the Helix Midnight, we were good , but not fantastic. People who sleep in this position all night long should look for an extra firm mattress that offers greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskIt’s the Helix Dusk is more supportive than other models we’ve tested, which may be the reason we felt so comfortable while lying in our backs. We’re certain that we’ll enjoy an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night because of the mattress’s supportive nature.

It’s not surprising that the Helix Dusk feels a little too soft for sleeping on your side given that we’ve moved into the firmer side in the range. We felt some pressure around the hip and shoulder, which would definitely cause discomfort if you slept in this position for the entire night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers with a normal weight because it will help to maintain a healthy spinal alignment. However, heavier stomach sleepers may not receive enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the ideal bed for back pain. It’s ideal for back sleepers who require additional support owing to increased weight, back pain, or other factors. The firmer construction of this mattress helps in keeping the hips lifted and in alignment with the spine.

Because it is the case that Helix Twilight is slightly firmer than other mattresses We found it hard to sleep on our sides on the mattress. We felt like we were suffocated on the shoulders and hips.

Most stomach sleepers should find the Helix Twilight mattress to be an ideal fit, since the mattress’s hardness will offer enough support to the spine in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who favor mattresses that are firm will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s superior level of support. However, those who like some pressure relief when resting on their backs might find the mattress to be excessively firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too hard for side sleeping and you’ll end up having a lot of pressure points in your hips and shoulders. A softer model will be much more suitable for sleepers who prefer side sleeping.

It is the Helix Dawn is the most comfortable mattress designed for stomach sleepers in our opinion. Through the night the firm and supportive mattress will keep your hips up and in alignment with the spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses have a hybrid structure that has foam layers over coils. Despite these similarities, each Helix mattress has its own distinct personality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top with a balanced foam feel. The soft comfort layer allows sleepers to sink in and provides the mattress with a slow-moving feel.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, gives a bouncy feeling, particularly when compared with the Sunset, which is less sensitive.

The Helix Midnight similar to it’s predecessor, the Helix Sunset, has an even feel and smooth top layer that moves slowly. The Midnight is more firm than the Sunset, allowing sleepers to sink a little more deeply in the upper layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is due to the use of active foam in the top layer and coils in the support layer.

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, features a slower-moving top. It’s still a solid mattress, despite the comfort layer being slightly more comfortable.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a soft, firm and bouncy feel it because to the use of dynamic foam (in the layer of comfort) and coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

Helix Midnight (which is a combination of pressure reduction and spinal support) or the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support and pressure relief) and The Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by average-weight back sleepers (which provides a more firmer spine support).

Sleeping on the Helix Midnight (if you prefer a slightly harder sensation) or the softer and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight or Sunset is most probable for people who are average-weight side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are of moderate weight should prefer the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

The Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for heavyweight back sleepers since it alleviates tension while ensuring spinal alignment.

The most soft models of the Helix range, such as the Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset, should provide sufficient of pressure relief for heavier side sleepers.

Heavyweight stomach sleepers On the other hand are likely to move towards the Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) to ensure proper spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a variety of models for light back sleepers. For instance, the Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all offer plenty of spinal support and different degrees of pressure relief to suit various sleeping styles.

In the same way, side sleepers who are light can choose from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset and should provide adequate pressure relief with the ability to alter the hardness level to their preferences.

Finally stomach sleepers will discover the Helix Twilight and Dawn to be the most comfortable.

Helix Mattresses Construction

As far as construction is concerned, each Helix mattresses are constructed in the same way. Helix mattresses are constructed the same way. They share the same cover and foam comfort layers are placed over individual wrapped supports for coils.

Every Helix mattresses, including they have the SoftTouch Design cover that is elastic, soft, and air-tight. This allows air to circulate freely through the top of the mattress. In addition, every Helix model is equipped with an extra layer of support that is made of coils individually wrapped and stacked on top of a base foam with a high density which gives the mattress the overall shape and stability.

The similarities end there for the most part. The cushions’ comfort layers differ in the size, stiffness, layout and the types of foam. Other materials are available on some versions. Let’s have a examine it more carefully!.

Helix Sunset

The comfort layer of the Helix Sunset is made of pressure-relieving Memory Plus Foam, which gives you the slow-moving feeling of memory foam that it is famous for. A transition layer composed of Helix Dynamic foam, a foam made of latex that’s firmer, bouncier, and more supportive, is placed underneath that Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Sunset’s top layer of comfort is comprised of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s main comfort layer and the transition layer are made of the Helix Dynamic Foam. It is a different latex-foam alternative, and the multiple layers of this dynamic foam gives it a buoyant feeling when compared to that of the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the primary comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it provides pressure reduction and body shaping. A layer of transitional, high-grade polyfoam sits underneath that Memory Plus Foam. This layer is very responsive, implying that the mattress overall responds to pressure more quickly.

Helix Dusk

The Helix Dusk’s primary comfort layer is made up out of Helix Dynamic Foam, a foam substitute made of latex that is bouncy and responsive. It’s a layer composed of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam layer. (Think of the Dusk’s design as similar to that in that of the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam can be layered on top of Memory Plus Foam to produce a bouncy smooth surface. Memory Plus Foam provides pressure relief as sleepers sink deeper into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

Helix Twilight, like the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above a dense, high-grade polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. The Memory Plus Foam adds some ease of use, but don’t be fooled: this is an extremely firm mattress that has very less give.

Helix Dawn

Then, last but not least, the Helix Dawn features an Helix Dynamic Foam comfort layer, which is sandwiched over a dense, high-grade polyfoam transition layer. This creates a soft, bouncy and comfortable sleep surface with very little bounce.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We put Helix mattresses through a series of tests. Helix mattresses to a set of tests to determine how well they performed in key areas including temperature regulation as well as motion transfer, edge support and more. Continue reading to find out how they fared!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Sleeping Hot or Cold If you’re worried about the possibility of overheating, think about purchasing a LUXE version of your mattress.

Motion Transfer

According to our tests, some models outperform other models when it comes to minimizing disturbances over your mattress’s top. For instance, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight provided the best motion isolation. That’s because to the slower-moving memory foam close to the top of each of the models, which do an excellent job of absorption of motion. These are some of the most comfortable mattresses for couples that are available on the market.

Edge Support

Every Helix mattress offered an excellent edge support across the board. As we sat and fell asleep on the edges of each model, we felt safe.

Durability

All of the Helix mattresses are constructed with high-density foams as well as sturdy coils which ensure that they can last for a long duration.

Off-Gassing

We noticed an off-gassing issue from the six Helix mattresses initially. This will go away within a couple of days, or perhaps sooner.

Noise

We didn’t notice any noticeable sound when moving around on the mattresses during the time of our test. However, because all of these mattresses have coils, it’s likely that they’ll begin to make noise as time passes.

Sex

If you are looking for a sexual mattress, most people are concerned about how simple it will be to shift places on their mattress. Because all of the Helix mattresses have coils, they should be sufficient to let you move around easily on each. The models that have memory foam in the top layer (particularly, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) could make changing positions more difficult due to their slower movement.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night trial of sleep and a 10-year mattress guarantee are provided with each Helix mattress.
