Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You might have noticed that stiffness was already discussed throughout this article. That’s because one of the most important factors to take into consideration when buying for the best mattress is its firmness (and the way that firmness impacts comfort). These factors will tell you the mattress’s suitableness for your bed place (s). Let’s have a look at the comfort and firmness in the Helix mattress range.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses are available in a variety of hardness options, with the softest being moderately soft and the most firm ones being moderately firm. Its Helix Sunset is on the soft side of the spectrum and we have given it a rating of 5.5 out of 10 on the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 is considered to be an standard industry norm for moderate firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a 6/10 that means it’s softer than normal. It’s softer than the Helix Midnight and Helix Dusk are in the middle of the spectrum. Both mattresses received a rating of around 7/10, which is a bit more firm than the average. They are Helix Twilight as well as the Helix Dawn are at the harder end of the spectrum, both receiving a 7.5/10 rating (firmer than average).

It’s important to keep in mind that the level of hardness is a matter of personal preference. If you’re looking for the firmness of the mattress, you can assess these mattresses differently based on your body weight and your personal preferences. For instance, heavier people could find the mattresses more firm as they can push further into the mattress and get to the support layers. Meanwhile, lighter people may find that these mattresses are softer since they are higher within the comfortable layer every bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on Helix mattresses for a long period in order to get an accurate picture of what it’s like to sleep on each model in various positions. Take a peek at what we found!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Mattress Free ReturnsBecause of its softness, due to its softness, the Helix Sunset was not comfortable enough to be a good back sleeper. Our hips sank a little too far into the mattress, which caused the spine to shift.

While the Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for those who sleep on their backs, it’s ideal for those who sleep on their sides. We were really relaxed in this position as the mattress’s softness cushioned any tension points in the hip and shoulder. In fact, it’s one of the greatest mattresses to relieve hip discomfort that we’ve found.

The Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach-sleeping due of its softness. Our hips were too deep into the mattress and pulled the back out of position, just like they did when we were back sleeping.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhen reclining, back sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not extraordinary. If you plan on sleeping in this position all night, you’ll probably require a mattress that provides more support and assists in maintaining the proper alignment of your spine.

The Helix Moonlight is an excellent choice for side sleeping due to its softness. There was no unwelcome tension around the hip or shoulder.

It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not adequate for stomach-sleeping. Our hips fell too deeply into the mattress, leading the spine to be out of alignment.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureAs we slept in the Helix Midnight, we felt fantastic. We enjoyed a touch of pressure alleviation without sacrificing spinal alignment thanks to the mattress’s excellent combination of support and comfort. It’s the best mattress for those who sleep on their backs on this list.

Although the Helix Midnight is more firm than it’s counterparts, the Helix Sunset as well as Moonlight, we were able to rest comfortably on our sides on this mattress. It provides adequate pressure alleviation on the hip and shoulder, in our opinion.

While stomach sleeping on the Helix Midnight, we felt good , but not fantastic. Sleepers who are in this posture all night should look for an extra firm mattress that offers greater spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than other models we’ve tried, which could explain why we felt good while resting upon our backs. We’re confident that we’ll have proper spinal alignment all night because of the mattress’s supportive qualities.

It’s likely not a surprise it is that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for a side sleeper since we’ve shifted to the more firm end in the range. We felt some pressure around the hip and shoulder area that would create a lot of discomfort if you were to sleep in this position for the entire night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers who weigh around average because it will help them maintain appropriate spine alignment. However, heavier stomach sleepers may not find sufficient support in this model.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the greatest bed for back discomfort. It’s ideal for back sleepers who require additional support owing to increased weight back pain, other factors. The more firm construction of this mattress helps in keeping hips lifted and properly aligned in alignment with spine.

Since it is the case that Helix Twilight is more firm than the average mattress, we found it difficult to sleep on our sides on this mattress. We felt as if we were being suffocated by the hips and shoulders.

The majority of stomach sleepers will find the Helix Twilight to be a good fit, since the mattress’s hardness will offer enough support to the spine in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who like mattresses that are firm will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s superior level of support. However, those who like some pressure relief when resting on their backs could find this mattress too firm.

It’s the Helix Dawn is far too difficult to sleep on side, and you’ll end up with a lot of pressure points around your hips and shoulders. One of the softer types is much better for side sleepers.

It is the Helix Dawn Mattress is one of the best mattress designed for stomach sleepers, in our opinion. Throughout the night this supportive and firm mattress will keep your hips up and in alignment in alignment with your spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses have a hybrid composition with foam layered over coils. Despite these commonalities however, each Helix mattress has its own distinct personality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top with a balanced foam feel. The soft comfort layer allows sleepers to relax and creates a slow-moving feel.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, offers a lively sensation, especially when contrasted to the Sunset that is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight similar to Helix Sunset, like Helix Sunset, is an even feel and slower-moving upper layer. The Midnight is a bit more firm than the Sunset and allows sleepers to sink a little further into the top layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and lively. This is due to the use dynamic foam in the top layer as well as coils in the layer supporting it.

It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, features a slower-moving top. This is still a firm mattress, with the comfort layer being a little more enveloping.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a bouncy, firm feel to it due to the use of dynamic foam (in the cushion layer) and coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

Helix Midnight (which is a combination of pressure reduction and spinal support) or the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support with pressure reduction) and Helix Dusk (which combines pressure reduction and spinal support) or Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by average-weight back sleepers (which gives a firmer spinal support).

Sleeping on the Helix Midnight (if your preference is a slightly more spongy feeling) or the more comfortable and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight (or Sunset) is most probable for average-weight side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are of moderate weight should consider the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for back sleepers who weigh a lot because it eases pressure and maintains spinal alignment.

The softest models in the Helix range, like Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset, should provide sufficient of pressure relief for heavier side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are heavy, on the other hand are likely to move towards The Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) for the best spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a variety of options for light back sleepers. For instance, the Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all provide plenty of spinal support as well as different degrees of pressure relief that can accommodate different sleeping styles.

In the same way, side sleepers who are light can pick from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset and should offer adequate pressure relief, while allowing users to customize the level of hardness according to their needs.

Finally stomach sleepers will appreciate the Helix Twilight and Dawn for the best supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

In terms of construction, all all of the Helix mattresses are built in the same way. They have the same cover and the foam comfort layers are placed over individual wrapped supports for coils.

All Helix mattresses, including, have A SoftTouch Design cover that is elastic, soft, and air-tight. This design allows air to circulate freely throughout the top of the mattress. Meanwhile, each Helix model is equipped with an extra layer of support that is made of individually wrapped coils that are stacked over a dense base foam which provides the mattress with its overall structure and strength.

The similarities are not the only part. The cushions’ comfort layers vary in size, stiffness, layout, and types of foam. Additional materials are also available on some versions. Let’s take a take a closer look!.

Helix Sunset

The comfort layer of the Helix Sunset is comprised of pressure-reducing Memory Plus Foam, which provides the slow-moving, comfortable feel of memory foam that it is renowned for. A transition layer composed of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s a bit larger, more bouncier, and more bolstering, sits under memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Sunset’s top comfort layer is composed of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s main comfort layer and transition layer is made of Helix Dynamic Foam. This is another latex-foam option and the numerous layers of this dynamic foam gives it a buoyant feel when compared with that of the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the principal comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it helps reduce pressure and body shaping. A layer of transitional high-quality polyfoam is placed under the Memory Plus Foam. This layer is quite flexible, meaning that the mattress overall reacts faster to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The Helix Dusk’s primary comfort layer is constructed of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s bouncy and responsive. It’s a layer of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam layer. (Think of the Dusk’s structure as being identical to that of Helix Sunset’s construction. Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam can be layered over Memory Plus Foam to create a lively, responsive surface, while Memory Plus Foam helps relieve pressure when sleepers lie down on the mattress.

Helix Twilight

It’s the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above the dense, high-quality polyfoam transition layer. Its Memory Plus Foam adds some comfort, but don’t be deceived by this being a firm mattress with only a little bounce.

Helix Dawn

Not to be left out last but not least, the Helix Dawn has an Helix Dynamic Foam comfort layer that is layered over a thick, high-quality polyfoam layer transition layer. This creates an extremely firm, bouncey, and responsive sleep surface with very little bounce.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We tested the Helix mattresses to a series of tests to determine how well they performed in key areas like temperature control as well as motion transfer, edge support, and other areas. Keep reading to find out what they did!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Do you feel hot or cold when sleeping? If you’re worried about overheating, consider purchasing a LUXE version of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

Based on our testing, some models outperform others when it comes to minimising disturbances to your mattress’s top. It was found that the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight offered the most effective motion isolation. That’s because to the slower-moving memory foam near the top of each of these models, which do well at blocking motion. These are the best mattresses for couples available on the market.

Edge Support

Each Helix mattress provided good edge support across all models. As we sat and fell asleep on the edges of each model, we felt comfortable and safe.

Durability

All of the Helix mattresses are manufactured with high-density foams as well as sturdy coils which ensure that they can last for a long period of time.

Off-Gassing

There was some off-gassing from the six Helix mattresses initially. This will go away within a couple of days, or perhaps sooner.

Noise

We didn’t notice any noticeable noise while moving about on the mattresses during the time we wrote our review. Since all of these mattresses have coils, it’s likely that they’ll begin to make noise with time.

Sex

When looking for a sex mattress, most people are concerned about how easy it will be to move places on their mattress. Since all Helix mattresses have coils, they must be flexible enough that you can move around easily on any of them. The models that have memory foam in the top layer (particularly, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) might make changing your position a bit harder due to their slower movement.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night trial of sleep and a 10-year mattress guarantee come in each Helix mattress.
