Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

It’s likely that stiffness has already been discussed throughout this article. This is because one of the most crucial elements to consider when purchasing a new mattress is the firmness (and how firmness affects the comfort). These factors will tell you a lot about a mattress’s suitableness for your sleep location (s). Let’s look at the firmness and feel in the Helix mattress series.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses are available in a variety of hardness options, with the softest being moderately soft and the firmest being fairly firm. Helix Sunset Helix Sunset is on the lower end of the scale; we evaluated it with a score at 5.5 out of 10 on the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 would be the industry standard for medium firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10, which means it’s still more soft than the norm. The Helix Midnight and Helix Dusk fall somewhere between the spectrum. Both mattresses scored approximately a 7/10, which is a bit heavier than average. Helix Twilight and the Helix Twilight, as well as Helix Dawn are on the firmer side of the spectrum, both getting the 7.5/10 rating (firmer than the average).

It is important to be aware that the degree of firmness is a personal preference. If you’re looking for firmness, you may evaluate these mattresses in different ways based on your weight and preferences. Heavier persons, for example, may find these mattresses firmer since they can press further into the mattress and reach into the support layers. Meanwhile, lighter people may discover that these mattresses are less firm due to the fact that they are located higher on the comfort level of each bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on Helix beds for an long time to get an idea of what it’s like to sleep on each model in different positions. Take a peek at the results!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Mattress FoundationsDue to its softness due to its softness, the Helix Sunset was not supportive enough for back sleeping. Our hips were a bit too far down into our mattress causing the spine to shift.

The Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t the best for back sleepers but it’s great for those who prefer to sleep sideways. We were really comfortable in this position because the mattress’s softness cushioned any pressure areas around the hip and shoulder. In actual fact, it’s one of the most comfortable mattresses for hip pain that we’ve found.

The Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach-sleeping due of its softness. Our hips sank too deeply into the mattress and pulled the back out of position, just the way they did when were asleep back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhile back sleeping, back sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not extraordinary. If you’re planning on sleeping in this position for the entire through the night, you’ll want a firmer mattress that provides more support and assists in maintaining the proper alignment of your spine.

The Helix Moonlight is an excellent choice for side sleeping due to its softness. There was no unwelcome tension around the shoulder or hip.

The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, isn’t supportive enough for stomach sleeping. Our hips sank too deeply in the mattress which caused the spine to be out of alignment.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureAs we slept upon the Helix Midnight, we felt fantastic. We experienced a bit of pressure relief without sacrificing spinal alignment thanks to the mattress’s good combination of support and comfort. It is the greatest mattress for back sleepers on this list.

Even though the Helix Midnight is firmer in comparison to Helix Sunset and Moonlight, it is still a good mattress. Helix Sunset and Moonlight, we discovered it to be comfortable to sleep on our backs on the mattress. It provides adequate pressure alleviation between the hip and shoulder in our opinion.

As we lay on our stomachs in the Helix Midnight, we were good but not great. Sleepers who are in this posture all night long should look for mattresses that are firmer and provide more spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskIt’s the Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses we’ve tried, which could explain why we felt so good while resting upon our backs. We’re certain that we’ll enjoy an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night due to the mattress’s supportive nature.

It’s probably not surprising it is that Helix Dusk feels a little too soft for sleeping on your side considering that we’ve moved to the firmer end on the scale. We felt some pressure around the hip and shoulder that would cause discomfort if you were to sleep in this position for a long time.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers of average weight because it will help in maintaining a proper spine alignment. However, stomach sleepers with heavier weights may not find enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the ideal bed for back discomfort. It’s ideal for back sleepers who require additional support owing to increased weight back pain, other reasons. The more firm construction of this mattress assists in keeping the hips lifted and in alignment in alignment with spine.

Since this mattress Helix Twilight is on the firmer side We found it hard to lie on our backs on the mattress. We felt suffocated in the shoulders and hips.

For most stomach sleepers, the Helix Twilight to be a good one, as the mattress’s hardness will give enough spinal support in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who favor an extra firm mattress will love the Helix Dawn’s high level of support. But, those who want a little pressure alleviation when lying back may likely find this mattress to be too firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too hard for side sleeping and you’ll be left with lots of pressure points around your hips and shoulders. The Helix Dawn that is soft will be much more suitable for side sleepers.

It is the Helix Dawn is the best mattress for stomach sleepers, in our opinion. In the evening, this firm and supportive mattress keeps the hips raised and aligned with the spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses have a hybrid structure that has foam layers over coils. Despite these similarities every Helix mattress has its own distinct character.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a balanced foam feel. The soft comfort layer allows sleepers to feel comfortable and creates the feeling of a slow-moving.

It is worth noting that the Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy feeling, particularly when compared with the Sunset that is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight is, just like Helix Sunset, like Helix Sunset, has a balanced feel and a slower-moving upper layer. The Midnight is a bit more firm than the Sunset, allowing sleepers to sink deeper into the top layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and lively. This is due to the use active foam on the upper layer as well as coils in the supporting layer.

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, is characterized by a slower-moving top. This is still a firm mattress, despite the comfort layer being slightly more cushiony.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a soft, firm and bouncy feel it because to the use of dynamic foam (in the comfort layer) and coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

Helix Midnight (which is a combination of pressure reduction and spinal support) or the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support with pressure reduction) as well as Helix Dusk (which combines pressure reduction and spinal support) or Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by average-weight back sleepers (which offers firmer spinal support).

Sleeping on the Helix Midnight (if your preference is a more firm feeling) or the more comfortable and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight or Sunset is most probable for average-weight side sleepers.

For stomach sleepers, those of moderate weight should consider the supportive Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for back sleepers who weigh a lot since it alleviates pressure and maintains spinal alignment.

The most comfortable models within the Helix range, like Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset will provide enough pressure relief for heavier side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are heavy On the other hand, will most likely go toward The Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) to ensure proper spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a wide range of options for light back sleepers: The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all offer plenty of support for the spine and various levels of pressure relief to accommodate different styles of sleeping.

Similarly, lightweight side sleepers can pick from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset and should give adequate pressure relief and allow users to adjust the level of hardness according to their preferences.

Finally stomach sleepers will discover that the Helix Twilight and Dawn for the best supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

In terms of construction, all the Helix mattresses are built in the same way. They share the same cover and the foam comfort layers are laid over individual coil support layers.

The majority of Helix mattresses, and in particular they have the SoftTouch Design cover that is soft, elastic, and air-tight. The design lets air circulate freely throughout the mattress’s top. Meanwhile, each Helix model comes with a support layer made up of individually wrapped coils stacked over a dense base foam which provides the mattress with its overall structure and strength.

The similarities end there for the most part. The cushions’ comfort layers vary in density, stiffness, placement and kinds of foam. There are additional materials offered on certain versions. Let’s examine it more carefully!.

Helix Sunset

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made up of pressure-reducing Memory Plus Foam, which provides the slow-moving, comfortable feel of memory foam that it is known for. A layer of transition made up comprised of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s a bit firmer, bouncier, and more supportive, is placed beneath memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is comprised from Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s main comfort layer and transition layer is made of Helix’s Dynamic Foam. This is another latex-foam option and the numerous layers of this foam provide a lively feel when compared with that of the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the primary comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it offers pressure reduction as well as body shaping. A transition layer of thick, high-grade polyfoam sits under the Memory Plus Foam. This layer is quite responsive, implying that the mattress in general responds more quickly to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The main comfort layer is constructed out of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s bouncy and responsive. The layer is made composed of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think about the Dusk’s construction as similar to the one in the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam can be placed over Memory Plus Foam to create a bouncy, responsive surface, while Memory Plus Foam provides pressure relief as sleepers sink deeper into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

It’s the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above an extremely dense and high-grade polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. The Memory Plus Foam adds some ease of use, but don’t be fooled: this is a mattress that is firm with very little give.

Helix Dawn

Then, last but not least last but not least, the Helix Dawn comes with an Helix Dynamic Foam comfort layer that is layered over a high-quality, dense polyfoam layer transition layer. This creates a soft, bouncy and comfortable sleep surface with very minimal give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We put Helix mattresses through a series of tests. Helix mattresses through a set of tests to see their performance in key areas including temperature control, motion transfer, edge support and many more. Keep reading to find out the results!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Sleeping Hot or Cold If you’re worried about your mattress being too hot, you might want to consider buying a LUXE version of your mattress.

Motion Transfer

Based on our testing that some mattresses outperform others in minimizing disturbances over the surface of the mattress. For instance, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight provided the best motion isolation. That’s because they have a memory foam that is slower moving close to the top of each of these models, which do well at blocking motion. These are among the most comfortable mattresses for couples available on the market.

Edge Support

Each Helix mattress provided excellent edge support throughout the range. While sitting and sleeping near the edges of every model, we felt comfortable and safe.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are manufactured with high-density foams and robust coils to ensure they’ll last for a long period of period of.

Off-Gassing

There was some off-gassing from all six Helix mattresses in the beginning. This will go away within a couple of days, or perhaps sooner.

Noise

There was no noticeable noise when we moved around on one of these mattresses during the time of our test. Since all of them have coils, it’s probable that they’ll start to sound squeaky over time.

Sex

When searching for a sex mattress, a majority of people are concerned about how easy it will be to shift places on their mattress. Since all Helix mattresses have coils, they must be flexible enough that you can move easily across any of them. The models that have memory foam on the upper layer (particularly those that have memory foam in the top layer (such as Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) might make changing positions harder due to their slower motion.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night trial period of sleep as well as a 10-year mattress guarantee are included with each Helix mattress.
