Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You might have noticed that stiffness was already discussed throughout this article. This is because one of the most important factors to take into consideration when purchasing a new mattress is the firmness (and how it affects the comfort). These factors will tell you a lot about a mattress’s suitability for your chosen sleep location (s). Let’s have a look at the comfort and firmness of the Helix mattress collection.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses are available in a wide range of options, with the softest being moderately soft and the firmest being fairly firm. The Helix Sunset is on the softer end of the range; we gave it a hardness rating at 5.5 out of 10 in the firmness scale. (A 6.5/10 would be the standard industry norm for moderate firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a 6/10, which means it’s still more soft than the norm. Helix Dusk and the Helix Midnight and Helix Dusk fall somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Both mattresses received a rating of around 7/10, which is a bit heavier than average. Helix Twilight and the Helix Twilight as well as the Helix Dawn are on the harder end of the spectrum, with each receiving an 7.5/10 score (firmer than average).

It is important to keep in mind that the level of hardness is a matter of personal preference. In terms of the firmness, you could evaluate these mattresses in different ways based on your body weight and personal preferences. Heavier persons, for example might find them more firm because they are able to press further into the mattress to get to the support layers. Meanwhile, lighter people may discover that these mattresses are less firm due to the fact that they are located higher on the comfort level of every bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on Helix beds for an long period of time in order to gain an idea of what it’s like to rest on each model in various positions. Take a peek at what we discovered!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Mattress Fat ErpsonBecause of its softness, due to its softness, the Helix Sunset was not comfortable enough to be a good back sleeper. Our hips sank a little too deep into the mattress, which caused the spine to shift.

While the Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for those who sleep on their backs It’s perfect for those who sleep on their sides. We were very at ease in this position due to the mattress’s softness helped cushion any pressure areas around the hip and shoulder. It’s actually one of the best mattresses for hip pain that we’ve come across.

It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach-sleeping due of its softness. Our hips fell too far into the mattress which pulled our back out of position just like they did when we were back sleeping.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhen reclining while sleeping, back sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not exceptional. If you plan on sleeping in this position for the entire night, you’ll probably want a firmer mattress that provides extra support and aids in maintaining an appropriate spine alignment.

The Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping sideways due to its softness. We didn’t feel any uncomfortable pressure on the hip or shoulder.

The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping. Our hips fell too deeply to the bed, which caused the spine to shift.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhen we lay down upon the Helix Midnight We felt amazing. We experienced a bit of pressure relief, but without losing spinal alignment thanks to the mattress’s great blend of comfort and support. It’s the most comfortable mattress for back sleepers on this list.

Even though the Helix Midnight mattress is firmer than Helix Sunset and Moonlight, it is still a good mattress. Helix Sunset as well as Moonlight We were able to rest comfortably on our backs on this mattress. It provides adequate pressure alleviation between the hip and shoulder according to our experience.

While stomach sleeping on the Helix Midnight, we were good , but not fantastic. People who sleep in this position throughout the night should consider mattresses that are firmer and provide more spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskIt’s the Helix Dusk is more supportive than other models that we’ve tested. This could explain why we felt so good while resting on our backs. We’re certain that we’ll enjoy proper spinal alignment all night thanks to the mattress’s supportive nature.

It’s likely not a surprise it is that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for side sleeping given that we’ve moved into the firmer side on the scale. We felt some pressure around the hip and shoulder, which would definitely cause discomfort if you slept in this position for a long time.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers with a normal weight because it will help in maintaining a proper spine alignment. However, heavier stomach sleepers may not receive enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the greatest bed for back discomfort. It’s the ideal mattress for back sleepers who require additional support owing to increased weight or back pain, as well as other causes. The firmer construction of this mattress aids in keeping the hips lifted and properly aligned to the spinal column.

Because the Helix Twilight is slightly firmer than other mattresses, we found it difficult to lie on our backs on the mattress. We felt as if we were being suffocated by the shoulders and hips.

The majority of stomach sleepers will find the Helix Twilight to be an ideal one, as the mattress’s hardness will provide enough of spinal support in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who prefer mattresses that are firm will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s superior level of support. However, those who prefer a little pressure alleviation when lying back could find this mattress to be too firm.

The Helix Dawn is far too hard for side sleeping, and you’ll end up with lots of pressure points on your hips and shoulders. The Helix Dawn that is soft will be much more suitable for those who sleep on their sides.

The Helix Dawn is the best mattresses for stomach-sleepers in our opinions. Through the night the firm and supportive mattress keeps the hips raised and in alignment with the spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses are all hybrid composition with foam layered over coils. Despite these commonalities, each model has its own distinct personality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top with a balanced foam feel. The plush comfort layer encourages sleepers to relax and provides the mattress with an elongated feel.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, offers a lively sensation, especially when contrasted to the Sunset one, which is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight similar to Helix Sunset, like Helix Sunset, has a smooth, even texture and slower-moving upper layer. The Midnight is more firm than the Sunset, allowing sleepers to sink deeper down into the layer above.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is due to the use of high-performance foam in the top layer as well as coils in the support layer.

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, has a more sluggish top. It’s still a sturdy mattress, even though the comfort layer is slightly more comfortable.

The Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a firm, bouncy feel to it because to the use of dynamic foam (in the layer of comfort) as well as coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

The Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support and pressure relief) and the Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by average-weight back sleepers (which gives a firmer spinal support).

Sleeping on the Helix Late at Night (if want a slightly more spongy feeling) or the soft and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight (or Sunset) is more likely for side sleepers of average weight.

For stomach sleepers, those of moderate weight should prefer the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

The Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for those who are heavy-weight back sleepers since it alleviates pressure and maintains spinal alignment.

The softest models in the Helix range, like Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset will provide enough pressure relief for heavy-weight side sleepers.

For stomach sleepers with heavy weights however, will most likely go toward the Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) to ensure proper spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a wide range of models for light back sleepers: The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all offer plenty of spinal support as well as different degrees of pressure relief that can accommodate different sleeping styles.

Similarly, lightweight side sleepers can choose from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset and should offer adequate pressure relief, with the ability to alter the hardness level to their needs.

Finally, stomach sleepers will find the Helix Twilight or Dawn to be the most comfortable.

Helix Mattresses Construction

In terms of construction, all the Helix mattresses are constructed the same manner: They all have the same cover, and the same foam comfort layers are placed over individually wrapped the coils to support them.

Every Helix mattresses, in particular, have a SoftTouch Design cover that is elastic, soft, and breathable. This allows air to flow freely across the mattress’s top. In addition, every Helix model is equipped with an additional layer of support made of coils individually wrapped and stacked on top of a base foam with a high density which gives the mattress it’s overall design and support.

The similarities are not the only part. The comfort layers of these mattresses vary in size, stiffness, layout and kinds of foam. There are additional materials available in certain models. Let’s have a look at it more closely!.

Helix Sunset

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made of pressure-reducing Memory Plus Foam, which provides the slow-moving, comfortable feel which memory foam has become famous for. A transition layer composed of Helix Dynamic foam, a foam made of latex that’s more firm, bouncier and more supporting, sits beneath memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Sunset’s top comfort layer is composed out of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s main comfort layer and transition layer are made from Helix’s Dynamic Foam. This is yet another latex-foam choice, and the multiple layers of this dynamic foam gives it a buoyant feeling when compared to Helix Sunset. Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the main comfort layer in the Helix Midnight, and it provides pressure reduction and body shaping. A layer of transitional high-quality polyfoam lies beneath it. Memory Plus Foam. This layer is quite responsive, which means that the mattress as a whole responds to pressure more quickly.

Helix Dusk

The Dusk’s main comfort layer is constructed of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s soft and receptive. The layer is made composed of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think of Dusk’s structure as similar to the one from that of the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam has been placed on top of Memory Plus Foam to create a lively smooth surface. Memory Plus Foam helps relieve pressure when sleepers lie down on the mattress.

Helix Twilight

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above a dense, high-grade polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. Its Memory Plus Foam adds some ease of use, but don’t be fooled: this is a mattress that is firm with very only a little bounce.

Helix Dawn

Then, last but not least The Helix Dawn comes with a Helix dynamic foam comfort layer that is layered over a dense, high-grade polyfoam layer transition layer. The result is an extremely firm, bouncey, and supple sleep surface that has very minimal give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We put Helix mattresses through a series of tests. Helix mattress through a series of tests to determine how well they performed in key areas such as temperature control, edge support, motion transfer, and many more. Keep reading to find out how they fared!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Are you sleeping hot or cold? If you’re worried about the possibility of overheating, think about purchasing a LUXE version of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

As we have seen in our tests certain models are better than others in minimizing disturbances over the surface of the mattress. The Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight provided the best motion-seclusion. It’s due to the slower-moving memory foam near the top of each of these models, it does well at absorption of motion. These are the top mattresses for couples on the market.

Edge Support

Each Helix mattress provided excellent edge support throughout the range. While sitting and sleeping at the edge of each model, we felt safe.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are manufactured with high-density foams and robust coils, ensuring that they will last for a long time.

Off-Gassing

We noticed an off-gassing issue from the six Helix mattresses in the beginning. This will go away within a couple of days if not sooner.

Noise

There was no noticeable noise while moving about on the mattresses during the time we wrote our review. Since each mattress has coils, it’s probable that they’ll start to sound squeaky over time.

Sex

When searching for a sex mattress, most individuals are concerned about how easy it will be to shift places on their bed. Because all of the Helix mattresses feature coils, they should be flexible enough that you can move around easily on any of them. The models that feature memory foam on the top layer (particularly those that have memory foam in the top layer (such as Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) might make changing your position a bit more difficult because of their slow movement.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night trial period of sleep as well as 10 years of mattress warranty are included with every Helix mattress.
