Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You may have noticed that stiffness was already mentioned within this list. It’s because one of most crucial elements to consider when purchasing a new mattress is firmness (and how it affects comfort). These elements will reveal the mattress’s suitableness for your sleeping location (s). Let’s have a review of the firmness and feel that comes with the Helix mattress collection.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses are available in a range of different hardness options, with the most soft being moderately soft, and the most firm being quite firm. The Helix Sunset is on the softer end of the range; we have given it a rating that was 5.5 out of 10 in the firmness scale. (A 6.5/10 is the standard industry norm for medium firmness.) Helix Dusk is next. Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a 6/10 that means it’s softer than normal. Helix Dusk and the Helix Midnight, as well as Helix Dusk fall somewhere between the spectrum. Both of these mattresses have a score of 7/10, which is slightly more firm than the average. The Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn are on the more difficult side of the spectrum, both receiving an 7.5/10 rating (firmer than average).

It is important to keep in mind that the level of hardness is a matter of individual preference. If you’re looking for firmness, you may evaluate these mattresses in different ways based on your weight and preferences. Heavier persons, for example might find them more firm as they can push further into the mattress and get to the support layers. Meanwhile, lighter people may be surprised to find these mattresses less firm due to the fact that they are located higher within the comfortable layer every bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on Helix beds for an lengthy period in order to get a clear picture of what it’s like to sleep on each model in various positions. Have a look at the results!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Mattress FAQDue to its softness, the Helix Sunset wasn’t supportive enough for back sleeping. Our hips were a bit too deep in the bed, which caused the spine to be misaligned.

While the Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for back sleepers but it’s great for side sleepers. We were really comfortable in this position because the soft mattress cushioned possible stress points around the shoulder and hip. It’s actually one of the most comfortable mattresses for hip discomfort that we’ve found.

It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleeping because to its softness. Our hips fell too far into the mattress, pulling the spinal column out of its alignment, just like they did when we were sleeping back to back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhen reclining while sleeping, back sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not extraordinary. If you’re planning to sleep in this position all through the night, you’ll want a firmer mattress with additional support and helps maintain appropriate spinal alignment.

It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping sideways due to its softness. We didn’t feel any unwelcome tension around the hip or shoulder.

The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not sufficient for stomach sleep. Our hips sank too deeply in the mattress which caused the spine to misalign.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureAs we slept in the Helix Midnight, we felt fantastic. We experienced a bit of pressure relief without sacrificing spinal alignment , thanks to the mattress’s great combination of support and comfort. It is the greatest mattress for back sleepers that we have reviewed on this list.

Although the Helix Midnight mattress is firmer that Helix Sunset and Moonlight, it is still a good mattress. Helix Sunset or Moonlight, we found it pleasant to sleep on our backs on this mattress. It is a good pressure-relief mattress between the hip and shoulder according to our experience.

When we slept with our stomachs on the Helix Midnight, we felt good , but not fantastic. People who sleep in this position all night long should look for a firmer mattress that provides more spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskIt’s the Helix Dusk is more supportive than other models that we’ve tested. This could explain why we felt so good while resting on our backs. We’re confident that we’ll have an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night because of the mattress’s supportive nature.

It’s likely not a surprise it is that Helix Dusk feels a little too soft for sleeping on your side given that we’ve moved into the more firm end of the spectrum. We felt some pressure around the shoulder and hip that could cause significant discomfort if you sleep in this position all night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers of average weight, as it should assist them maintain appropriate spine alignment. However, stomach sleepers with heavier weights may not find enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the greatest bed for back discomfort. It’s the ideal mattress for back sleepers who require more support due to weight gain, back pain, or other reasons. The firmer structure of this mattress aids in keeping hips lifted and properly aligned to the spinal column.

Since it is the case that Helix Twilight is on the firmer side It was difficult to lay on our backs on this mattress. We felt like we were suffocated on the hips and shoulders.

Most stomach sleepers should find the Helix Twilight mattress to be a good fit, since the mattress’ hardness should give enough spinal support in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who like a firm mattress will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s high level of support. However, those who prefer a little pressure alleviation when resting on their backs might find the mattress to be too firm.

It’s the Helix Dawn is far too difficult to sleep on side and you’ll end up with lots of pressure points in your hips and shoulders. The Helix Dawn that is soft is much better for those who sleep on their sides.

It is the Helix Dawn Mattress is one of the best mattress for stomach sleepers in our opinions. Through the night this supportive and firm mattress helps keep the hips elevated and in alignment in alignment with your spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses are all hybrid structure that has foam layers over coils. Despite these commonalities however, each model has its own distinct personality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top with a balanced foam feel. The plush comfort layer encourages sleepers to sink in and provides the mattress with an elongated feel.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy sensation, particularly when compared with the Sunset one, which is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight is, just like the Helix Sunset, has an even feel and slower-moving upper layer. The Midnight is a bit more firm than the Sunset and allows sleepers to sink more deeply in the upper layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is because of the use of dynamic foam for the layer on top, and coils in the support layer.

It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, has a more sluggish top. It’s still a sturdy mattress, even though the comfort layer is a little more enveloping.

The Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a soft, firm and bouncy feel it because of the use of foam that is dynamic (in the layer of comfort) along with coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

Helix Midnight (which is a combination of pressure reduction and spinal support) or the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support and pressure reduction) as well as The Helix Dusk are likely to be the preferred choice for back sleepers (which gives a firmer spinal support).

The Helix Late at Night (if want a slightly harder sensation) or the softer and more pressure-reducing Helix Moonlight or Sunset is most probable for average-weight side sleepers.

For stomach sleepers, those with a moderate weight should choose the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

The Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for those who are heavy-weight back sleepers, as it relieves pressure while maintaining the alignment of the spine.

The softest models in the Helix range, such as the Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset are likely to provide adequate pressure relief for heavyweight side sleepers.

For stomach sleepers with heavy weights, on the other hand tend to go towards Helix Dawn. Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection) for proper spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a wide range of options for light back sleepers. The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all offer plenty of spinal support as well as different levels of pressure relief to accommodate various sleeping styles.

Similar to the side sleepers that are lightweight, you can pick from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset, which should all provide adequate pressure relief while allowing users to customize the hardness level to their preferences.

Finally, stomach sleepers will find Helix Twilight or Dawn to be the most supportive. Helix Twilight, or Dawn for the best comfortable.

Helix Mattresses Construction

Regarding construction and construction methods, the majority of Helix mattresses are constructed in the same way. Helix mattresses are built in the same manner: They share the same cover and the foam comfort layers are placed over individual wrapped supports for coils.

The majority of Helix mattresses, including they have A SoftTouch Design cover that is elastic, soft, and air-tight. This allows air to circulate freely through the top of the mattress. In addition, every Helix model is equipped with an extra layer of support that is made of individually wrapped coils stacked over a dense base foam that gives the mattress the overall shape and strength.

The similarities end there for the most part. The foam layers that provide comfort differ in the size, stiffness, layout and kinds of foam. Additional materials are also available in certain models. Let’s have a look at it more closely!.

Helix Sunset

The comfort layer of the Helix Sunset is comprised of pressure-reducing Memory Plus Foam, which provides the slow-moving, comfortable feel of memory foam that it is famous for. A layer of transition made up comprised of Helix Dynamic foam, a foam made of latex that’s more firm, bouncier and more bolstering, sits under memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Sunset’s comfort layer is comprised out of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s comfort layer and the transition layer is made of Helix’s Dynamic Foam. It is a different latex-foam alternative, and the multiple layers of this foam provide a lively feel when compared with the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the principal comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it helps reduce pressure and body shaping. A layer of transitional, high-grade polyfoam sits under it. Memory Plus Foam. This layer is very responsive, implying that the mattress overall reacts faster to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The Helix Dusk’s primary comfort layer is made up from Helix Dynamic Foam, a foam substitute made of latex that is bouncy and responsive. A layer comprised of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think of the Dusk’s construction as being identical to that of that of the Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam has been laid on top of Memory Plus Foam to create a lively and responsive surface. Memory Plus Foam helps relieve pressure when sleepers lie down on the mattress.

Helix Twilight

Helix Twilight, like the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above a dense, high-grade polyfoam transition layer. This Memory Plus Foam adds some comfort, but don’t be deceived by this being a firm mattress with less give.

Helix Dawn

Then, last but not least, the Helix Dawn has a Helix Comfort Layer made of Dynamic Foam, which is sandwiched over a high-quality, dense polyfoam transition layer. This combination produces a soft, bouncy and supple sleep surface that has very minimal give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We put Helix mattresses through a series of tests. Helix mattresses through a set of tests to determine the performance of these mattresses in key areas like temperature regulation, motion transfer, edge support and more. Keep reading to find out the results!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Sleeping Hot or Cold If you’re worried about your mattress being too hot, you might want to consider buying a LUXE model of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

As we have seen in our tests that some mattresses outperform others in minimizing disturbances over the mattress’s surface. The Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight have the highest level of motion-isolating. This is due there is a slower-moving memory foam at the top of each of the models, which does an excellent job of blocking motion. These are some of the most comfortable mattresses for couples that are available on the market.

Edge Support

Every Helix mattress provided excellent edge support throughout the range. When we sat and slept on the edges of each model, we felt safe.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are made from high-density foams as well as sturdy coils which ensure that they can last for a long time.

Off-Gassing

There was the off-gassing of all six Helix mattresses in the beginning. This will go away within a couple of days if not sooner.

Noise

We didn’t hear any distinct sound when moving around on any of these mattresses at the time we wrote our review. But, since all of them have coils, it’s likely that they’ll begin to make noise as time passes.

Sex

When looking for a sex mattress, most people are concerned about how simple it will be to shift positions on the mattress. Since all Helix mattresses are made of coils, they should be sufficient that you can move easily across any of them. The models that feature memory foam in the top layer (particularly Helix Sunset, Midnight and Twilight) Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) might make changing your position a bit more difficult due to their slow movement.
