Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You might have noticed that stiffness was already mentioned throughout this article. That’s because one of the most important aspects to think about when buying for a new mattress is firmness (and the way that firmness impacts comfort). These factors will tell you the mattress’s ability to accommodate your preferred sleeping place (s). Let’s take a closer review of the firmness and feel of the Helix mattress series.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses come in a wide range of options, with the most soft being moderately soft and the most firm ones being moderately firm. Its Helix Sunset is on the lower end of the scale and we evaluated it with a score that was 5.5 out of 10 on the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 is considered to be an standard industry norm for moderate firmness.) Its Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a score of 6/10, which means it’s still softer than normal. Helix Dusk and the Helix Midnight as well as the Helix Dusk are in the middle of the spectrum. Both mattresses received a rating of around 7/10, which is a bit firmer than normal. The Helix Twilight as well as the Helix Dawn are on the harder end of the spectrum with both getting the 7.5/10 rating (firmer than the average).

It is important to remember that the level of hardness is a matter of individual preference. In terms of firmness, you may assess these mattresses differently based on your weight and preferences. People who are heavier, for instance might find them more firm as they can push further into the mattress to reach the support layers. On the other hand, people who weigh less discover that these mattresses are softer since they are higher within the comfortable layer each bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on Helix beds for an long time to get an accurate picture of the experience it’s like to rest on each model in different positions. Check out what we found!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Mattress CompetitorsBecause of its softness, because of its softness, Helix Sunset didn’t feel nearly sufficient for back sleepers. The hips of ours sink a little too far down into our mattress which caused the spine to become misaligned.

Although the Helix Sunset’s gentleness isn’t ideal for back sleepers but it’s great for those who prefer to sleep sideways. We felt very at ease in this position due to the mattress’s softness cushioned any stress points around the shoulder and hip. It’s actually one of the most comfortable mattresses for hip pain that we’ve found.

The Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach-sleeping due of its softness. Our hips sank too deeply into the mattress which pulled our spinal column out of its alignment, just the way they did when were asleep back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhile back sleeping, back sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not exceptional. If you’re planning to sleep in this position for the duration of the night, you’ll probably need a more firm mattress that provides additional support and helps maintain appropriate spinal alignment.

The Helix Moonlight is an excellent choice for side sleeping because of its comfort. There was no unwelcome pressure on the hips or shoulders.

It is the Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, is not sufficient for stomach sleep. Our hips fell too deeply into the mattress, causing the spine to be out of alignment.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureAs we slept upon the Helix Midnight and feeling fantastic, we were able to feel great. We experienced a bit of pressure alleviation without sacrificing spinal alignment thanks to the mattress’s excellent balance of support and comfort. It is the greatest mattress for those who sleep on their backs on this list.

Despite the fact that the Helix Midnight is firmer than Helix Sunset and Moonlight, it is still a good mattress. Helix Sunset and Moonlight, we discovered it to be comfortable to sleep on our sides on the mattress. It is a good pressure-relief mattress between the hip and shoulder, in our opinion.

As we lay on our stomachs in the Helix Midnight, we felt well, but not super. If you sleep in this posture all night should look for a firmer mattress that provides more spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskIt’s the Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses we’ve tested, which may be the reason we felt so comfortable while lying on our backs. We’re confident that we’ll have an ideal spinal alignment throughout the night thanks to the mattress’s suppleness.

It’s likely not a surprise that the Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for a side sleeper given that we’ve moved into the firmer end of the spectrum. There was some discomfort around the shoulder and hip that would cause significant discomfort if you slept in this position for the entire night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers who weigh around average because it will help in maintaining a proper spinal alignment. However, stomach sleepers who are heavier might not get enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the best mattress for back pain. It’s ideal for back sleepers who require more support due to weight gain back pain, other reasons. The more firm construction of this mattress aids in keeping hips lifted and aligned to the spinal column.

Since this mattress Helix Twilight is more firm than the average mattress, we found it difficult to lay on our backs on this mattress. We felt like we were suffocated on the shoulders and hips.

For most stomach sleepers, the Helix Twilight to be a good fit, since the mattress’ hardness should provide enough of spinal support in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who favor an extra firm mattress will love the Helix Dawn’s high level of support. However, those who prefer an occasional relief from pressure when lying back might find the mattress to be excessively firm.

It’s the Helix Dawn is far too difficult to sleep on side, and you’ll end up with lots of pressure points in your hips and shoulders. A softer model is much better for those who sleep on their sides.

The Helix Dawn Mattress is one of the best mattresses for stomach-sleepers in our opinions. Throughout the night this supportive and firm mattress keeps the hips raised and aligned with the spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses are all hybrid design that incorporates foam over coils. Despite these similarities, each model has its own distinctive individuality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a well-balanced foam feel. The plush comfort layer encourages sleepers to relax and creates an elongated feel.

It is worth noting that the Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy sensation, particularly when compared with the Sunset that is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight is, just like the Helix Sunset, has an even feel and slower-moving upper layer. The Midnight is firmer than the Sunset and allows sleepers to sink further in the upper layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncey. This is due to the use of high-performance foam for the layer on top, and coils in the supporting layer.

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, is characterized by a slower-moving top. It’s still a sturdy mattress despite the comfort layer being slightly more comfortable.

The Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a firm, bouncy feel to it because to the use of foam that is dynamic (in the cushion layer) and coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

Helix Midnight (which is a combination of pressure reduction and spinal support) or the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support and pressure reduction) or Helix Dusk (which combines pressure reduction and spinal support) or Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by back sleepers (which provides a more firmer spine support).

The Helix Midnight (if your preference is a slightly more spongy feeling) or the soft and more pressure-relieving Helix Moonlight (or Sunset) is more likely for people who are average-weight side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are with a moderate weight should choose the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

The Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for heavyweight back sleepers because it eases pressure while maintaining the alignment of the spine.

The most comfortable models within the Helix range, such as the Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset, should provide sufficient of pressure relief for heavyweight side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are heavy, on the other hand, will most likely go towards The Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection) for the best spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a wide range of models for light back sleepers. For instance, the Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all provide plenty of spinal support as well as different levels of pressure relief to accommodate different styles of sleeping.

Similarly, lightweight side sleepers can choose from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset, which should all provide adequate pressure relief and allow users to adjust the level of hardness according to their requirements.

Finally stomach sleepers will discover Helix Twilight or Dawn to be the most supportive. Helix Twilight and Dawn for the best supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

Regarding construction and construction methods, the majority all of the Helix mattresses are constructed in the same way: They have the same cover and the foam comfort layers are placed over individual wrapped coil support layers.

Every Helix mattresses, and in particular, have A SoftTouch Design cover that is soft, elastic, and air-tight. This design allows air to circulate freely throughout the mattress’s top. Additionally, every Helix model has an extra layer of support that is made of individually wrapped coils stacked on top of a base foam with a high density which gives the mattress it’s overall design and strength.

The similarities are not the only part. The foam layers that provide comfort differ in their thickness, stiffness, arrangement and kinds of foam. There are additional materials available in certain models. Let’s take a closer look!.

Helix Sunset

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made of pressure-relieving Memory Plus Foam, which gives you the slow-moving feeling which memory foam has become known for. A layer of transition made up from Helix Dynamic foam, a foam made of latex that’s larger, more bouncier, and more supporting, sits underneath memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Sunset’s top layer of comfort is composed of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s comfort layer and the transition layer are made from the Helix Dynamic Foam. It is a different latex-foam alternative and the numerous layers of this dynamic foam gives it a buoyant feel when compared to the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the primary comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it helps reduce pressure and body shaping. A transition layer of dense high-quality polyfoam is placed under it. Memory Plus Foam. The layer is extremely responsive, implying that the mattress overall reacts faster to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The main comfort layer is made up of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s bouncy and responsive. A layer comprised of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think of Dusk’s construction as similar to the one of Helix Sunset’s construction. Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam is placed over Memory Plus Foam to create a lively and responsive surface. Memory Plus Foam provides pressure relief as sleepers sink deeper into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

Helix Twilight, like the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above an extremely dense and high-grade polyfoam transition layer. This Memory Plus Foam adds some convenience, but don’t get deceived by this being an extremely firm mattress that has very little give.

Helix Dawn

Then, last but not least, the Helix Dawn features a Helix dynamic foam comfort layer that is layered over a high-quality, dense polyfoam transition layer. The result is a firm, bouncy, and comfortable sleep surface with very little bounce.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We put the Helix mattresses to a series of tests to find out the performance of these mattresses in key areas including temperature control and motion transfer, edge support and more. Continue reading to find out how they fared!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Do you feel hot or cold when sleeping? If you’re concerned about the possibility of overheating, think about purchasing a LUXE model of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

Based on our testing, some models outperform other models when it comes to keeping out any disturbances that might occur on the mattress’s surface. For instance, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight have the highest level of motion-seclusion. It’s due there is a slower-moving memory foam at the top of each of these models, which does an excellent job of absorbing motion. These are among the most comfortable mattresses for couples that are available on the market.

Edge Support

Every Helix mattress offered an excellent edge support across all models. When we sat and slept near the edges of every model, we felt safe.

Durability

All of the Helix mattresses are made from high-density foams as well as sturdy coils, ensuring that they will endure a long period of.

Off-Gassing

We noticed the off-gassing of all six Helix mattresses initially. It will disappear in a few days, in the event that it is not earlier.

Noise

We didn’t hear any distinct noise while moving about on one of these mattresses at the time of our review. However, because all of them have coils, it’s probable that they’ll start to sound squeaky with time.

Sex

If you are looking for a sexual mattress, a majority of people are concerned about how easy it will be to shift positions on the mattress. Since all Helix mattresses feature coils, they are flexible enough to allow you to move around easily on each. The models that have memory foam in their top layers (particularly, Helix Sunset, Midnight and Twilight) Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) may make changing positions harder due to their slower movement.
