This included mattresses with two different constructions on each side to accommodate couples with different sleeping preferences. While the company recently reduced its custom products, it’s still determined to offer a broad variety of sleeping options.

Helix currently offers six mattresses that are hybrid in its collection that have a distinct softness level and hardness. This is a list of the people who are most likely to sleep on one of these beds (and who might not).

  • Those who sleep hot and require cooling mattresses
  • People who need a wide number of options to choose from

Who Might Not Like the Helix Mattresses?

Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

You may have noticed that stiffness is already discussed within this list. This is because one of the most important aspects to think about when buying for a new mattress is firmness (and how it affects comfort). These elements will reveal the bed’s ability to accommodate your preferred sleep location (s). Let’s take a closer review of the quality and firmness of the Helix mattress collection.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses come in a variety of hardness options, with the softest being moderately soft and the most firm ones being moderately firm. Its Helix Sunset is on the soft side of the spectrum and we evaluated it with a score that was 5.5 out of 10 in the firmness scale. (A 6.5/10 is considered to be an industry standard for moderate firmness.) The Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a 6/10, which means it’s still more soft than the norm. It’s softer than the Helix Midnight and Helix Dusk fall somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Both mattresses have a score of 7/10, which is slightly firmer than normal. They are Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn are on the harder end of the spectrum, with both getting the 7.5/10 assessment (firmer than the average).

It is important to remember that hardness is a individual preference. In terms of firmness, you may evaluate these mattresses in different ways based on your body weight and personal preferences. For instance, heavier people might find them more firm because they are able to press further into the mattress and reach into the support layers. Meanwhile, lighter people may discover that these mattresses are less firm due to the fact that they are located higher in the comfort layer of each bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on the Helix mattress for a lengthy time to get a clear picture of what it’s like rest on each model in different positions. Check out the results!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Luxe Mattress PriceDue to its softness, the Helix Sunset wasn’t sufficient for back sleepers. Our hips were a bit too far in the bed, causing the spine to become misaligned.

Although the Helix Sunset’s gentleness isn’t the best for back sleepers, it’s ideal for those who prefer to sleep sideways. We were very at ease in this position due to the mattress’s softness helped cushion any stress points around the shoulder and hip. It’s actually one of the best mattresses to relieve hip discomfort that we’ve come across.

The Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleep due of its softness. Our hips fell too far into the mattress which pulled our spinal column out of its alignment just like they did when we were back sleeping.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightAs a back sleeper in a back position, it was apparent that the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not extraordinary. If you’re planning on sleeping in this position for the duration of the night, you’ll probably need a more firm mattress that provides additional support and helps maintain appropriate spinal alignment.

It is the Helix Moonlight is an excellent option for sleeping sideways due to its softness. We didn’t feel any uncomfortable pressure on the hip or shoulder.

The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, isn’t adequate for stomach-sleeping. Our hips sank too deeply into the mattress, which caused the spine to be out of alignment.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhile resting in the Helix Midnight We felt amazing. We enjoyed a touch of pressure relief without sacrificing spinal alignment , thanks to the mattress’s excellent blend of comfort and support. It’s the best mattress for those who sleep on their backs on this list.

Despite the fact that the Helix Midnight is firmer in comparison to the Helix Sunset or Moonlight, we discovered it to be comfortable to sleep on our sides on this mattress. It provides adequate pressure alleviation between the hip and shoulder in our opinion.

As we lay on our stomachs in the Helix Midnight, we felt good but not great. People who sleep in this posture all night should look for a firmer mattress that provides more spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskIt’s the Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses we’ve tested, which may explain why we felt at ease while sleeping upon our backs. We’re sure that we’ll be able to maintain good spinal alignment throughout the night because of the mattress’s suppleness.

It’s not surprising it is that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for a side sleeper considering that we’ve moved to the firmer end on the scale. We felt some pressure around the hip and shoulder area that would cause discomfort if you slept in this position for a long time.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers who weigh around average, as it should assist them maintain appropriate spinal alignment. However, stomach sleepers who are heavier may not find sufficient support in this model.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the ideal bed for back pain. It’s the ideal mattress for back sleepers who require extra support due to increased weight, back pain, or other factors. The firmer structure of this mattress helps in keeping the hips elevated and in alignment in alignment with spine.

Since the Helix Twilight is on the firmer side, we found it difficult to lie on our backs on the mattress. We felt suffocated in the hips and shoulders.

For most stomach sleepers, the Helix Twilight to be an ideal choice, as the mattress’s hardness will offer enough support to the spine in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who favor a firm mattress will appreciate the Helix Dawn’s superior level of support. However, those who prefer some pressure relief when lying back could find this mattress to be too firm.

It’s the Helix Dawn is far too hard for side sleeping and you’ll end up with lots of pressure points in your shoulder and hip. The Helix Dawn that is soft will be much more suitable for sleepers who prefer side sleeping.

It is the Helix Dawn Mattress is one of the most comfortable mattress designed for stomach sleepers, in our opinions. Through the night the firm and supportive mattress keeps the hips raised and aligned to the spinal column.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses have a hybrid composition with foam layered over coils. However, despite these similarities however, each Helix mattress has its own distinct individuality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a well-balanced foam feel. The soft comfort layer allows sleepers to feel comfortable and provides the mattress with an elongated feel.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, has a bouncy feeling, particularly when compared with the Sunset that is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight similar to Helix Sunset, like Helix Sunset, is a balanced feel and a smooth top layer that moves slowly. The Midnight is firmer than the Sunset, allowing sleepers to sink a little more deeply in the upper layer.

The Helix Dusk is solid and bouncy. This is due to the use dynamic foam on the upper layer as well as coils in the supporting layer.

It is similar to the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, has a more sluggish top. It’s still a sturdy mattress, with the comfort layer being slightly more cushiony.

Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a firm, bouncy feel to it due to the use of dynamic foam (in the cushion layer) as well as coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

Helix Midnight (which is a combination of pressure reduction and spinal support) or the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support with pressure reduction) as well as The Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by average-weight back sleepers (which provides a more firmer spine support).

The Helix Late at Night (if want a slightly harder sensation) or the more comfortable and more pressure-reducing Helix Moonlight (or Sunset) is most probable for side sleepers of average weight.

For stomach sleepers, those of moderate weight should consider the supporting Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for back sleepers who weigh a lot because it eases tension while ensuring spinal alignment.

The most soft models of the Helix range, such as the Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset are likely to provide adequate pressure relief for heavier side sleepers.

The stomach sleepers who are heavy On the other hand are likely to move to the Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress of the range) for proper spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There should be a variety of options for light back sleepers: The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all provide plenty of spinal support as well as different degrees of pressure relief that can accommodate various sleeping styles.

Similar to the side sleepers that are lightweight, you can choose from the Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset that should all provide adequate pressure relief and allow users to adjust the level of hardness according to their preferences.

Finally, stomach sleepers will find Helix Twilight or Dawn to be the most supportive. Helix Twilight or Dawn as the most supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

Regarding construction and construction methods, the majority of all of the Helix mattresses are built in the same manner: They all have the same cover and foam comfort layers are placed over individual wrapped supports for coils.

Every Helix mattresses, including the newest models, come with a SoftTouch Design cover that is soft, elastic, and air-tight. This design allows air to flow freely across the top of the mattress. In addition, every Helix model has an extra layer of support that is made of individually wrapped coils that are stacked over a high-density base foam which gives the mattress it’s overall design and support.

The similarities end there for the most part. The comfort layers of these mattresses vary in density, stiffness, placement and kinds of foam. There are additional materials available on some versions. Let’s have a examine it more carefully!.

Helix Sunset

The comfort layer of the Helix Sunset is made of pressure-relieving Memory Plus Foam, which gives you the slow-moving feeling of memory foam that it is known for. The transition layer is made comprised of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam substitute that’s a bit more firm, bouncier and more supporting, sits under that Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Sunset’s comfort layer is composed of Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s main comfort layer and transition layer are made from the Helix Dynamic Foam. This is yet another latex-foam choice and the numerous layers of this dynamic foam provide a lively feel when compared with that of the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the principal comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it provides pressure reduction and body shaping. A transition layer of dense high-quality polyfoam is placed beneath the Memory Plus Foam. This layer is very flexible, meaning that the mattress as a whole responds to pressure more quickly.

Helix Dusk

The main comfort layer is made from Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s soft and receptive. It’s a layer comprised of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath the Memory Plus Foam layer. (Think of the Dusk’s construction as similar to that from Helix Sunset’s construction. Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam has been layered over Memory Plus Foam to create a lively smooth surface. Memory Plus Foam provides pressure relief as sleepers sink deeper into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above the dense, high-quality polyfoam layer that acts as a transition. The Memory Plus Foam adds some ease of use, but don’t be taken in by the appearance: this is an extremely firm mattress that has very only a little bounce.

Helix Dawn

Then, last but not least, the Helix Dawn features the Helix dynamic foam comfort layer that is layered over a thick, high-quality polyfoam transition layer. The result is a firm, bouncy, and comfortable sleep surface with very little give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We put our Helix mattresses through a series of tests to find out how well they performed in key areas including temperature regulation, edge support, motion transfer and much other areas. Continue reading to find out how they fared!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Do you feel hot or cold when sleeping? If you’re worried about overheating, consider purchasing a LUXE model of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

According to our tests certain models are better than others when it comes to minimising disturbances to the mattress’s surface. It was found that the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight offered the most effective motion isolation. It’s due they have a memory foam that is slower moving near the top of each of these models, it does great job at absorption of motion. These are some of the best mattresses for couples available on the market.

Edge Support

Every Helix mattress offered an excellent edge support across the board. When we sat and slept on the edges of each mattress, we felt secure.

Durability

All of the Helix mattresses are manufactured with strong coils and high-density foams, ensuring that they will last for a long period of.

Off-Gassing

We noticed an off-gassing issue from all six Helix mattresses initially. The issue will be gone within a couple of days, or perhaps sooner.

Noise

There was no noticeable sound when moving around on one of these mattresses during the time of our review. But, since each mattress has coils, it’s possible that they’ll begin to squeak as time passes.

Sex

When searching for a sex mattress, most people are worried about how easy it will be to move positions on the mattress. Since all Helix mattresses are made of coils, they are sufficient to allow you to move around with ease on all of them. The models with memory foam on the top layer (particularly, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) could make changing your position a bit more difficult due to their slower motion.
