Helix Mattress Firmness and Feel

It’s likely that stiffness was already mentioned throughout this article. It’s because one of most important factors to take into consideration when shopping for a new mattress is the firmness (and how it affects comfort). These aspects will reveal the bed’s ability to accommodate your preferred bed position (s). Let’s take a closer review of the comfort and firmness in the Helix mattress series.

What Is the Firmness of Helix Mattresses?

The Helix mattresses come in a variety of hardness choices, with the softer being moderately soft and the most firm being quite firm. The Helix Sunset is on the soft side of the spectrum We gave it a hardness rating that was 5.5 /10 on the scale of firmness. (A 6.5/10 would be the industry standard for moderate firmness.) Its Helix Midnight is next, and we gave it a 6/10 which means that it’s less firm than average. Helix Dusk and the Helix Midnight as well as the Helix Dusk sit somewhere between the spectrum. Both of these mattresses received a rating of around 7/10 which is slightly firmer than normal. They are Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn are at the more difficult side of the spectrum with each receiving an 7.5/10 rating (firmer than the average).

It’s important to keep in mind that the degree of firmness is a personal preference. When it comes to firmness, you may assess these mattresses differently based on your weight and preferences. Heavier persons, for example, may find these mattresses firmer since they can press deeper into the mattress and reach the support layers. However, those who are lighter may discover that these mattresses are more supple due to their position within the comfortable layer every bed(s).

Sleeping on the Helix Mattresses

We slept on Helix mattress for a lengthy period of time in order to gain a clear picture of the experience it’s like to rest on each model in different positions. Take a peek at what we found!

Helix Sunset Mattress

Helix Lux MattressDue to its softness, because of its softness, Helix Sunset was not sufficient for back sleepers. Our hips were a bit too deep into the mattress, which caused the spine to be misaligned.

While the Helix Sunset’s softness isn’t ideal for back sleepers, it’s ideal for those who prefer to sleep sideways. We were really comfortable in this position because the mattress’s softness helped cushion any tension points in the hip and shoulder. In actual fact, it’s one of the best mattresses for hip pain that we’ve found.

It is apparent that the Helix Sunset is not supportive enough for stomach sleep due to its softness. Our hips were too deep into the mattress and pulled the spinal column out of its alignment, just like they did when we were sleeping back to back.

Helix Moonlight Mattress

helix-moonlightWhen reclining while sleeping, the Helix Moonlight was adequate but not extraordinary. If you’re planning on sleeping in this position for the duration of the night, you’ll probably need a more firm mattress with more support and assists in maintaining an appropriate spine alignment.

The Helix Moonlight is an excellent choice for side sleeping because of its comfort. We didn’t feel any uncomfortable tension around the shoulder or hip.

The Helix Moonlight, like the Helix Sunset, isn’t adequate for stomach-sleeping. Our hips were pushed too far into the mattress, which caused the spine to be out of alignment.

Helix Midnight Mattress

Helix Midnight Luxe FeatureWhile resting upon the Helix Midnight, we felt fantastic. We enjoyed a touch of pressure alleviation without sacrificing spine alignment due to the mattress’s good balance of support and comfort. It is the greatest mattress for back sleepers on this list.

Although the Helix Midnight mattress is firmer than the Helix Sunset and Moonlight and Moonlight, we found it pleasant to sleep on our sides on the mattress. It provides adequate pressure alleviation on the hip and shoulder according to our experience.

While stomach sleeping on the Helix Midnight, we felt well, but not super. Sleepers who are in this posture all night should look for mattresses that are firmer and provide more spinal support.

Helix Dusk Mattress

helix-duskThe Helix Dusk is more supportive than other mattresses we’ve tested, which may explain why we felt good while resting on our backs. We’re certain that we’ll enjoy good spinal alignment throughout the night because of the mattress’s suppleness.

It’s likely not a surprise it is that Helix Dusk feels a little too firm for a side sleeper considering that we’ve moved to the more firm end of the spectrum. We felt some pressure around the hip and shoulder that could cause significant discomfort if you slept in this position all night.

The Helix Dusk should suit stomach sleepers with a normal weight, as it should assist to maintain a healthy spine alignment. However, stomach sleepers with heavier weights may not find enough support here.

Helix Twilight Mattress

helix-twilightThe Helix Twilight was proved to be the ideal bed for back discomfort. It’s ideal for back sleepers who require additional support owing to weight gain back pain, other causes. The more firm construction of this mattress aids in keeping the hips lifted and properly aligned with the spine.

Because the Helix Twilight is on the firmer side, we found it difficult to lie on our backs on the mattress. We felt like we were suffocated on the shoulders and hips.

The majority of stomach sleepers will find the Helix Twilight to be a great one, as the mattress’s hardness will provide enough of spinal support in this position.

Helix Dawn Mattress

helix-dawnBack sleepers who prefer an extra firm mattress will love the Helix Dawn’s superior level of support. But, those who want some pressure relief when resting on their backs may likely find this mattress to be excessively firm.

It’s the Helix Dawn is far too difficult to sleep on side and you’ll be left with lots of pressure points in your hips and shoulders. One of the softer types is much better for sleepers who prefer side sleeping.

The Helix Dawn is the best mattress designed for stomach sleepers, in our opinions. In the evening, this firm and supportive mattress keeps the hips raised and in alignment in alignment with your spine.

What Do the Helix Mattresses Feel Like?

Helix mattresses all have a hybrid composition with foam layered over coils. Despite these similarities however, each model has its own distinct individuality.

The Helix Sunset offers a soft top and a well-balanced foam feel. The soft comfort layer allows sleepers to feel comfortable and gives the mattress the feeling of a slow-moving.

The Helix Moonlight, despite its softness, offers a lively feeling, particularly when compared with the Sunset that is more sensitive.

The Helix Midnight is, just like it’s predecessor, the Helix Sunset, is an even feel and slower-moving upper layer. The Midnight is a bit more firm than the Sunset which allows sleepers to sink a little more deeply down into the layer above.

The Helix Dusk is solid and lively. This is due to the use of active foam on the upper layer and coils in the support layer.

The Helix Twilight, like the Helix Sunset and Midnight, features a slower-moving top. It’s still a sturdy mattress, with the comfort layer being slightly more cushiony.

The Helix Dawn, like the Helix Dusk, has a firm, bouncy feel to it due to the use of dynamic foam (in the comfort layer) along with coils (in the support layer).

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

It is the Helix Midnight (which combines spinal support and pressure reduction) and Helix Dusk (which combines pressure reduction and spinal support) or Helix Dusk are likely to be preferred by back sleepers (which provides a more firmer spine support).

The Helix Midnight (if you prefer a slightly harder sensation) or the softer and more pressure-reducing Helix Moonlight and Sunset are most probable for side sleepers of average weight.

The stomach sleepers who are with a moderate weight should choose the supportive Helix Twilight or Dawn.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

It is recommended that the Helix Dusk should provide appropriate support for heavyweight back sleepers because it eases tension while ensuring spinal alignment.

The softest models in the Helix range, such as Helix Moonlight or Helix Moonlight or Helix Sunset will provide enough pressure relief for heavyweight side sleepers.

Heavyweight stomach sleepers, on the other hand, will most likely go toward The Helix Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection) for the best spinal support.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

There ought to be a range of types available for lightweight back sleepers. The Helix Moonlight, Midnight, and Dusk all offer plenty of support for the spine and various levels of pressure relief that can accommodate various sleeping styles.

Similar to the side sleepers that are lightweight, you can select from Helix Midnight, Moonlight, or Sunset and should give adequate pressure relief while allowing users to customize the level of hardness according to their preferences.

Finally stomach sleepers will appreciate that the Helix Twilight, or Dawn as the most supportive.

Helix Mattresses Construction

Regarding construction and construction methods, the majority all of the Helix mattresses are constructed the same way: They have the same cover and the foam comfort layers are placed over individually wrapped the coils to support them.

All Helix mattresses, in particular they have a SoftTouch Design cover that is flexible, soft and breathable. The design lets air circulate freely throughout the mattress’s top. In addition, every Helix model comes with a support layer made up of coils individually wrapped and stacked on top of a base foam with a high density which gives the mattress it’s overall design and stability.

The similarities stop there for the most part. The foam layers that provide comfort vary in density, stiffness, placement, and types of foam. Additional materials are also available in certain models. Let’s take a closer look!.

Helix Sunset

The Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made up of pressure-relieving Memory Plus Foam, which provides the slow-moving, comfortable feel which memory foam has become known for. A transition layer composed of Helix Dynamic foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s firmer, bouncier, and more bolstering, sits beneath that Memory Plus Foam.

Helix Moonlight

While the Helix Sunset’s comfort layer is made from Memory Plus Foam, the Helix Midnight’s comfort layer and the transition layer is made of the Helix Dynamic Foam. This is yet another latex-foam choice, and the multiple layers of this dynamic foam provide a lively feeling when compared to that of the Helix Sunset.

Helix Midnight

Memory Plus Foam is the principal comfort layer of the Helix Midnight, and it provides pressure reduction and body shaping. A transition layer of thick high-quality polyfoam lies underneath the Memory Plus Foam. This layer is quite flexible, meaning that the mattress as a whole reacts faster to pressure.

Helix Dusk

The Helix Dusk’s primary comfort layer is constructed out of Helix Dynamic Foam, a latex-foam replacement that’s soft and responsive. The layer is made of Memory Plus Foam sits beneath this layer. (Think of the Dusk’s design as being identical to that from Helix Sunset’s construction. Helix Sunset, but reversed.) Helix Dynamic Foam has been layered on top of Memory Plus Foam to produce a bouncy, responsive surface, while Memory Plus Foam offers pressure relief as sleepers sink into the mattress.

Helix Twilight

Helix Twilight, like the Helix Twilight, like the Helix Midnight, has a slow-moving Memory Plus Foam layer above a dense, high-grade polyfoam transition layer. The Memory Plus Foam adds some ease of use, but don’t be deceived by this being an extremely firm mattress that has very less give.

Helix Dawn

Last but not least last but not least, the Helix Dawn features a Helix dynamic foam comfort layer that is layered over a high-quality, dense polyfoam layer transition layer. The result is an extremely firm, bouncey, and supple sleep surface that has very little give.

Helix Mattresses Performance

We tested the Helix mattress through a set of tests to determine the performance of these mattresses in key areas including the regulation of temperature, motion transfer, edge support and more. Keep reading to find out the results!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Sleeping Hot or Cold If you’re still concerned about your mattress being too hot, you might want to consider buying a LUXE version of any mattress.

Motion Transfer

As we have seen in our tests, some models outperform others when it comes to minimizing disturbances over the mattress’s surface. For instance, the Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight have the highest level of motion isolation. This is due to the slower-moving memory foam near the top of all of these models, which does well at absorbing motion. These are among the most comfortable mattresses for couples on the market.

Edge Support

Every Helix mattress had excellent edge support throughout the range. When we sat and slept near the edges of every model, we felt comfortable and safe.

Durability

The Helix mattresses are made from high-density foams and robust coils to ensure they’ll last for a long period of period of.

Off-Gassing

There was an off-gassing issue from the six Helix mattresses in the beginning. It will disappear in a few days, in the event that it is not earlier.

Noise

There was no noticeable noise when we moved around on one of these mattresses at the time of our review. However, because all of them have coils, it’s likely that they’ll start to sound squeaky as time passes.

Sex

If you are looking for a sexual mattress, most individuals are worried about how easy it will be to shift places on their bed. Since all Helix mattresses feature coils, they must be sufficient to allow you to move around easily on all of them. The models that have memory foam on their top layers (particularly, Helix Sunset, Midnight and Twilight) Helix Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) might make changing positions more difficult because of their slower motion.

Information on the Warranty

A 100-night trial of sleep and a 10-year mattress guarantee come in every Helix mattress.
